To revise the peer-reviewed literature on geometric properties of the scleral-conjunctival structure in order to define their clinical relevance and the potential relationship between their changes and myopia development or progression.A bibliographic search focused on the study of the geometry of conjunctiva and/or sclera as well as those studies evaluating the relationship between geometric changes in the scleral-conjunctival structure and myopia was carried *** studies have been performed with different diagnostic technologies,including optical coherence tomography,profilometry and Scheimpflug imaging,to detect geometric changes of the scleralconjunctival tissue in different physiological conditions of the eye,after use of contact lenses and in different ocular ***,these technologies have been shown to be a valuable clinical tool to optimize scleral contact lens *** studies should investigate new potential clinical applications of such technologies,including the evaluation of anterior scleral changes related to myopia,as well as to define standardized clinical standard operating procedures for obtaining accurate and reproducible clinical measurement of the scleral-conjunctival morphology.

purpose-Cognitive radio(CR)plays a very important role in enabling spectral efficiency in wireless communication networks,where the secondary user(SU)allows the licensed primary users(pUs).The purpose of this paper is to develop a prediction model for spectrum sensing in ***/methodology/approach-This paper proposes a hybrid prediction model,called krill-herd whale optimization-based actor critic neural network and hidden Markov model(KHWO-ACnn-HMM).The spectral bands are determined optimally using the proposed hybrid prediction model for allocating the spectrum bands to the *** better sensing,the eigenvalue based on cooperative sensing used in ***,a hybrid model is designed by hybridizing KHWO-ACnn and HMM to enhance the accuracy of *** predicted results of KHWO-ACnn and HMM are combined by a fusion model,for which a weighted entropy fusion is employed to determine the free spectrum available in ***-The performance of the prediction model is evaluated based on metrics,such as probability of detection,probability of false alarm,throughput and sensing *** proposed spectrum sensing method achieves maximum probability of detection of 0.9696,minimum probability of false alarm rate as 0.78,minimum throughput of 0.0303 and the maximum sensing time of 650.08 *** implications-The proposed method is useful in various applications,including authentication applications,wireless medical networks and so ***/value-A hybrid prediction model is introduced for energy efficient spectrum sensing in CR and the performance of the proposed model is evaluated with the existing *** proposed hybrid model outperformed the other techniques.

Sudden enhancement of sedimentation flux of^(210)pb_(ex) as anindicator of lake productivity as exemplified by Lake Chenghai

The fundamental assumption of 210pbsediment dating is the stable flux of 210pbse, which was derived from atmosphere and then transferred into sediments via lake water. When the sedimentation rate is relatively constant, the 210pbse activity in sediments will be exponentially reduced with sedimentation age. 210pbse in lake water is incorporated into sediments mainly via organic particulates. If the sedimentation flux of organic matter in lake water is suddenly in- creased, 210pbse will be significantly deposited and then transferred into sediments. On the one hand such sudden purification effect is obviously unfit for the fundamental assumption of 210pbse dating; on the other hand, the sudden enhancement of 210pbse flux would be indicative of the conspicuous variation of primary productivity of lake water. This problem will be discussed in accordance with the variation trend of 210pbex in the vertical profile of recent sediments of Lake Chenghai, Yunnan province. The sediment core was collected from the deep-water area of Lake Chenghai in June 1997. The vertical profile of 137 Cs activity is characterized by a tree-peak pat- tern. This profile gave reliable ages, and also showed the stability of sediment accumulation in the recent ten years. The vertical profile of210pbse activity displays a specific distribution of peaks, and is similar to the vertical profile of Corg. This phenomenon seems to be related to the mecha- nism of constraining the transfer of 210pbse into lake sediments. The average atomic ratios of Horg/Corg and Corg/norg in Lake Chenghai sediments are 5.51 and 7.04, respectively, indicating that the organic matter was predominantly derived from the remains of endogenic algae. In terms of the three-stage evolutionary characteristics of organic matter in sediments, i.e., “deposition-de- composition-accumulation”, the sedimentation fluxes （F（Corg）） of organic carbon （Corg） since 1970 were calculated by modeling. Toll-like receptor （TLR）-mediated inflammatory response could negatively affect bone metabolism. In this study, we determined how osteogenesis is regulated during inflammatory responses that are downstream of TLR signaling. Human primary osteoblasts were cultured in collagen gels. pam3CSK4 （p3C） and Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide （EcLpS） were used as TLR2 and TLR4 ligand respectively. porphyromonas gingivalis LpS having TLR2 activity with either TLR4 agonism （pg1690） or TLR4 antagonism （pg1449） and mutant E. coli LpS （LpxE/LpxF/WSK） were used. IL-lp, SH2-containing inositol phosphatase-1 （SHIp1） that has regulatory roles in osteogenesis, alkaline phosphatase and mineralization were analyzed. 3α-Aminocholestane （3AC） was used to inhibit SHIp1. Our results suggest that osteoblasts stimulated by p3C, poorly induced IL-1β but strongly upregulated SHIp1 and enhanced osteogenic mediators. On the contrary, EcLpS significantly induced IL-1β and osteogenic mediators were not induced. While pg1690 downmodulated osteogenic mediators, pg1449 enhanced osteogenic responses, suggesting that TLR4 signaling annuls osteogenesis even with TLR2 activity. Interestingly, mutant E. coli LpS that induces weak inflammation upregulated osteogenesis, but SHIp1 was not induced. Moreover, inhibiting SHIp1 significantly upregulated TLR2-mediated inflammatory response and downmodulated osteogenesis. In conclusion, these results suggest that induction of weak inflammatory response through TLR2 （with SHIp1 activity） and mutant TLR4 ligands could enhance osteogenesis.

On the Fractal Mechanism of Interrelation Between the Genesis, Size and Composition of Atmospheric particulate Matters in Different Regions of the Earth

Experimental data from the national Air Surveillance network of Japan from 1974 to 1996 and from inde-pendent measurements performed simultaneously in the regions of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Odessa (Ukraine) and the Ukrainian “Academician Vernadsky” Antarctic station (64o15W;65o15S), where the air elemental composition was determined by the standard method of atmospheric particulate matter (pM) collection on nucleopore filters and subsequent neutron activation analysis, were analyzed. Comparative analysis of dif-ferent pairs of atmospheric pM element concentration data sets, measured in different regions of the Earth, revealed a stable linear (on a logarithmic scale) correlation, showing a power law increase of every atmos-pheric pM element mass and simultaneously the cause of this increase – fractal nature of atmospheric pM genesis. Within the framework of multifractal geometry we show that the mass (volume) of atmospheric pM elemental components has a log normal distribution, which on a logarithmic scale with respect to the random variable (elemental component mass) is identical to normal distribution. This means that the parameters of two-dimensional normal distribution with respect to corresponding atmospheric pM-multifractal elemental components measured in different regions, are a priory connected by equations of direct and inverse linear regression, and the experimental manifestation of this fact is the linear correlation between the concentra-tions of the same elemental components in different sets of experimental atmospheric pM data.

This paper presents the results of equal channel angular pressing (ECAp) and subsequent heat treatment (HT) as a method to improve the wear resistance of metallic materials in friction sliding. The effect of ECAp and HT on the microstructure and mechanical properties of low carbon steel is investigated in this work. The mechanisms of wear resistance of steel with ultrafine and nanostructures produced by equal-channel angular pressing is analyzed. The results show that ECAp at room temperature and annealing at 350°C and 450°C can be used as a technology of reducing wear in friction sliding.

Synthesis, Biological Evaluation and Molecular Docking of novel phenylpyrimidine Derivatives as potential Anticancer Agents

Based on our previous researches, a novel phenylpyrimidine pharmacophore model was proposed and fifteen derivatives were synthesized and characterized by means of spectroscopy methods. The inhibitory effects of them were screened against HeLa cell line by virtue of MTT assay in vitro. The results indicate some of the phenyl- pyrimidine derivatives exhibit potent biological activities. Among them, compounds 6g and 6h exhibit the best activity at half maximal inhibitory concentrations of 1.5 and 2.8 μmol/L, respectively. These compotmds also exhibit good activities against HepG2 cell line and MCF-7 cell line. FLT-3 kinase was screened as the most potent molecular target. Computational docking between compound 6g and FLT-3 was carried ont to interpret the binding mode. The results show phenylpyrimidine derivatives have effective antitumor activities, which provides a base for further research of them as antitumor agents.

Objective: To prove specific effects of acupuncture on chronic pain. It was speculated that the potential specific effectiveness of acupuncture could be better shown in more properly designed studies. Therefore, diagnoses of both Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) were used as inclusion criteria to allocate acupoints more precisely to the complaints of the patients. Secondly, objectively measurable parameters of pain relief in addition to usual Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) were chosen to quantify the effects of acupuncture. Methods: The study was prospective, randomized, controlled and single-blinded. Eighteen patients with chronic back pain and TCM diagnosis of a Taiyang/Yangming syndrome received one single session of acupuncture chosen according to TCM diagnosis or acupuncture on points outside the meridian system (controls). We evaluated pain via VAS and increased mobility via inclinometry of the back. Results: Although the sample size was small, there was a statistically significant improvement in pain and mobility in the intervention group (n=13), but not in the control group (n=5). The calculated sample size adequate power was lower for inclinometry than for VAS, indicating that VAS is less probable to discriminate acupuncture effects. Conclusion: Objectively measurable physical parameters such as the angle of flexion before and after acupuncture (inclinometry) may be more suitable to measure pain relief than subjective assessment by VAS in acupuncture studies. TCM diagnosis may be a helpful inclusion criterion in studies on acupuncture, so as to potentially allocate interventions better to the complaints of patients.
