This study focuses on the field reconnaissance efforts for investigating ground deformation behavior and building foundation performance in *** structures experienced significant damage or collapsed due to strong ground shaking in the coastal Iskenderun district of Hatay during the 2023 Kahramanmaras earthquake *** buildings were also impacted by ground failure due to liquefaction of deposits in the *** information regarding the general subsurface profile and post-earthquake data collected during the reconnaissance was used to perform simplified liquefaction and lateral spreading *** empirical methods provide first order estimations of settlements and lateral spreading but are not sufficient when the nature of the structure-soil-structure interaction and earthquake sequence is *** of vertical displacements and building tilt,liquefaction manifestations,and structural and foundation parameters potentially affecting foundation settlements including foundation geometry,building contact pressure,and building elastic period were used to evaluate seismic response of the ground and the structures through empirical *** of the buildings exhibited poor to mediocre foundation performance due to liquefaction-prone subsurface profiles,especially on the *** field and numerical research will reveal the cause of significant ground failure in the area as well as refined estimates for the seismic deformations.

Cost of illness among patients with diabetic foot ulcer in Turkey

AIM To evaluate the annual cost of patients with Wagner grade 3-4-5 diabetic foot ulcer(DFU) from the public payer's perspective in *** This study was conducted focused on a time frame of one year from the public payer's perspective. Cost-ofillness(COI) methodology, which was developed by the World Health Organization, was used in the generation of cost data. By following a clinical path with the COI method, the main total expenses were reached by multiplying the number of uses of each expense item, the percentage of cases that used them and unit costs. Clinical guidelines and real data specific to Turkey were used in the calculation of the direct costs. Monte Carlo Simulation was used in the study as a sensitivity *** The following were calculated in DFU treatment from the public payer's perspective: The annual average per patient outpatient costs $579.5(4.1%), imaging test costs $283.2(2.0%), laboratory test costs $284.8(2.0%), annual average per patient cost of intervention, rehabilitation and trainings $2291.7(16.0%), annual average per patient cost of drugs used $2545.8(17.8%)and annual average per patient cost of medical materials used in DFU treatment $735.0(5.1%). The average annual per patient cost for hospital admission is $7357.4(51.5%). The average per patient complication cost for DFU is $210.3(1.5%). The average annual per patient cost of DFU treatment in Turkey is $14287.70. As a result of the sensitivity analysis, the standard deviation of the analysis was $5706.60(n = 5000, mean = $14146.8, 95%CI: $13988.6-$14304.9). CONCLUSION The health expenses per person are $-PPP 1045 in 2014 in Turkey and the average annual per patient cost for DFU is 14-fold of said amount. The total health expense in 2014 in Turkey is $-PPP 80.3 billion and the total DFU cost has a 3% share in the total annual health expenses for Turkey. A rare cause for gestational trophoblastic neoplasia: Placental site trophoblastic tumor

Placental site trophoblastic tumor is a rare sub-group of gestational trophoblastic neoplasia. There is a wide clinical spectrum of presentation and behaviour ranging from a benign condition to an aggressive disease with a fatal outcome. We report a case of placental site trophoblastic tumor in 23-year-old women with irregular vaginal bleeding during postpartum lactation period. In addition to persistent low level β-hCG titers, ultrasound examination revealed a suspicious low-echoic area in the myometrium consistent with gestational trophoblastic disease. After histopathological examination of the specimen achieved by ultrasound-guided dilatation and curettage of the uterus, the placental site trophoblastic tumor diagnosis was made and subsequently total abdominal hysterectomy was performed. The patient had an uneventful recovery, and no recurrence was detected for 40 months in the follow-up period.

Cervical adenocarcinoma and adenomatoid tumor of the uterus;A rare coexisting finding and review of the literature

Genital origin adenocarcinomas with coexisting uterine adenomatoid tumors are very rare with only four published cases in the literature. We report a case of adenomatoid tumor of the uterus that was found incidentally during treatment of cervical adenocarcinoma. Although adenomatoid tumors may cause a differential diagnostic problem, in our case the hematoxylin-eosin histological and immunhistochemical studies confirmed mesothelial phenotype of tumor and these also helped in differentiating an adenomatoid tumor from the carcinomatous myometrial invasion. Adenomatoid tumors are easily recognizable benign pathologies. An incidental finding of adenomatoid tumors accompanied by adenocarcinoma of the endometrium or cervix should always be considered.

Is the Use of Frozen Section Indispensable in the Surgical Treatment of Endometrial Hyperplasia?

Objective: To evaluate the reliability and accuracy of frozen section (FS) compared with final pathology and to determine whether they should be obligatory in every patient with atypical endometrial hyperplasia (AEH). Methods: We retrospectively assessed the medical records of 192 patients whose endometrial biopsy results were endometrial hyperplasia and underwent hysterectomy at our center. Results: Twenty-two (11.4%) of the 192 patients in our study had concurrent endometrial carcinoma (EC). Of these, 21 (95.5%) were EC and 1 (4.5%) was non-endome- trioid. Of the 140 patients with AEH, 20 (14.3%) had concurrent EC. Overall, 157 patients had FS. Two (1%) patients’ EC was higher than grade 1B and needed lymphadenectomy. The positive and negative predictive value, specifity and sensitivity of FS were found to be 77.8%, 95.7%, 97% and 70%, respectively. Conclusion: Patients who have AEH without high-risk comorbidities do not have to be referred to oncology centers and can undergo hysterectomy in community hospitals without FS.
