Automated evaluation of parapapillary choroidal microvasculature in crowded optic discs:a controlled,optical coherence tomography angiography study

AIM:To compare superficial and deep vascular properties of optic discs between crowded discs and controls using optical coherence tomography angiography(OCT-A).METHODS:Thirty patients with crowded discs,and 47 control subjects were enrolled in the *** eye of each individual was included and OCT-A scans of optic discs were obtained in a 4.5×4.5 mm^(2) rectangular *** peripapillary capillary(RPC)density,peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer(pRNFL)thickness,cup volume,rim area,disc area,cup-to-disc(c/d)area ratio,and vertical c/d ratio were obtained automatically using device *** parapapillary choroidal microvasculature(PPCMv)density was calculated using MATLAB *** the vertical c/d ratio of the optic disc was absent or small cup,it was considered as a crowded ***:The mean signal strength index of OCT-A images was similar between the crowded discs and control eyes(P=0.740).There was no difference in pRNFL between the two groups(P=0.102).There were no differences in RPC density in whole image(P=0.826)and peripapillary region(P=0.923),but inside disc RPC density was higher in crowded optic discs(P=0.003).The PPCMv density in the inner-hemisuperior region was also lower in crowded discs(P=0.026).The pRNFL thickness was positively correlated with peripapillary RPC density(r=0.498,P<0.001).The inside disc RPC density was negatively correlated with c/d area ratio(r=-0.341,P=0.002).CONCLUSION:The higher inside disc RPC density and lower inner-hemisuperior PPCMv density are found in eyes with crowded optic discs.

The Kestelek borate deposit has been the subject of geological and mineralogical research over the last decades, but major and trace element geochemistry of this deposit was first investigated in the present study. A total of 22 samples collected from surface exposures and different depths of deposit in boreholes（e.g., lower, middle and upper） comprise the material of this study. Major, trace and REE element analyses of samples were conducted with ICP-MS and ICP-ES methods. The Kestelek borate deposit of Miocene age was formed in playa lakes in an intermountain closed basin which was developed in volcanically and seismically active areas associated with growth faults and grabens affected the whole Anatolia at the beginning of Paleogene. Only colemanite was found as the borate mineral accompanied in lesser amount by calcite, aragonite, smectite, illite, chlorite, corrensite, heulandite and quartz. In colemanite samples, all major elements, except for Ca, show depletion trends with respect to average of earth crust and andesite. For the trace elements, Li, Cs, Sb, As, Sr and Se are characterized by significantly high concentrations. Evaluation of element concentrations and geochemical characteristics reveal that As, Cs, Sb and Li are of detrital origin, Se together with B and Ca are of non-detrital and Sr is indicative of both detrital and non-detrital origin. REE distributions indicate that at least two different depositional regimes prevail in the environment. Corrensite, a clay mineral forming in lake waters, is derived from volcanism. Negative Ce and positive Eu anomalies are indicative of contribution from hydrothermal solutions and fluids.

Carbon dioxide capture,utilization and storage(CCUS)eincluding conversion to valuable chemicals-is a challenging contemporary issue having *** prospect to utilize carbon dioxide(CO_(2))as a feedstock for synthetic applications in chemical and fuel industries-through carboxylation and reduction reactions-is the subject of this *** statute of the heterogeneously catalyzed hydrogenation,as well as the photocatalytic and electrocatalytic activations of conversion of CO_(2) to value-added chemicals is *** CO_(2) as a viable alternative to natural gas and oil as carbon resource for the chemical supply chain,three stages of development;namely,(i)existing mature technologies(such as urea production),(ii)emerging technologies(such as formic acid or other single carbon(C1)chemicals manufacture)and(iii)innovative explorations(such as electrocatalytic ethylene production)have been identified and highlighted.A unique aspect of this review is the exploitations of reactions of CO2 ewhich stems from existing petrochemical plants-with the commodity petrochemicals(such as,methanol,ethylene and ethylene oxide)produced at the same or nearby complex in order to obtain value-added products while contributing also to CO_(2) fixation *** worldwide ethylene oxide facilities,it is recognized that they produce about 3 million tons of CO2 *** a CO_(2) resource,which is already separated in pure form as a requirement of the process,should best be converted to a value-added chemical there avoiding current practice of discharging to the *** potential utilization of CO_(2),captured at power plants,should also been taken into consideration for *** CO_(2) source,which is potentially a raw material for the chemical industry,will be available at sufficient quality and at gigantic quantity upon realization of on-going tangible capture *** resulting from carboxylation reactions are obviou
