Background： We examined the impact of adjuvant modalities on resected pancreatic and periampullary adenocarcinoma（PAC）.Methods： A total of 563 patients who were curatively resected for PAC were retrospectively analyzed between 2003 and ***： Of 563 patients, 472 received adjuvant chemotherapy（CT） alone, chemoradiotherapy（CRT） alone, and chemoradiotherapy plus chemotherapy（CRT-CT） were analyzed. Of the 472 patients, 231 were given CRT-CT, 26 were given CRT, and 215 were given CT. The median recurrence-free survival（RFS） and overall survival（OS） were 12 and 19 months, respectively. When CT and CRT-CT groups were compared, there was no significant difference with respect to both RFS and OS, and also there was no difference in RFS and OS among CRT-CT, CT and CRT groups. To further investigate the impact of radiation on subgroups, patients were stratified according to lymph node status and resection margins. In node-positive patients, both RFS and OS were significantly longer in CRT-CT than CT. In contrast, there was no significant differencebetween groups when patients with node-negative disease or patients with or without positive surgical margins were ***： Addition of radiation to CT has a survival benefit in patients with node-positive disease following pancreatic resection.

Flow structure at the downstream of a one-line riparian emergent tree along the floodplain edge in a compound open-channel flow

This study focuses on the effects of one-line emergent natural tree（Cupressus Macrocarpa） planted at the edge of the floodplain in a compound open-channel flow. The flow velocity and water level are measured and used to analyze the flow structure. The time averaged and depth-averaged streamwise velocity distributions with root mean square（rms） and time series of streamwise velocity distrbution are analyzed. The velocity distribution considerably changes along the compound channel. The streamwise velocity distribution fits with logarithmic distribution in the non-vegetated case, but for vegetated cases, the streamwise velocity distribution shows S shaped profile at the 1/3 part of floodplain（/3）B_f and main channel（/3）B_m close to the boundary between floodplain and main channel. Additionally, it is obtained that the presence of tree line increases turbulence intensity over the compound open-channel. Moreover, an oscillation period is obtained in the flow caused by tree line by analyzing time series of the streamwise velocity distribution. The oscillation is present everywhere in the floodplain and present at almost/3 B_m part of the main channel which is close to the junction between floodplain and main channel.

Investigation of production of medical ^(82)Sr and ^(68)Ge for ^(82)Sr/^(82)Rb and ^(68)Ge/^(68)Ga generators via proton accelerator

How to operate^(82)Sr/^(82)Rb and ^(68)Ge/^(68)Ga generators used in the positron emission tomography scan process is explained, and the importance of ^(82)Sr and ^(68)Ge radionuclides for these generators is revealed. To produce medical ^(82)Sr and ^(68)Ge by means of a proton accelerator in an irradiation time of 24 h, a proton beam current of250 l A, and an energy range E_(proton)= 100 →5 MeV, the cross sections and the neutron emission spectrum curves of(p,xn) reaction processes on Rb-85, Ga-69 and Ga-71 targets were calculated, and the activities and yields of the product were simulated for the reaction processes. Additionally, the integral yields of the reaction processes were determined via the calculated cross-sectional curves and the mass stopping power obtained from the X-PMSP program. Furthermore, based on the obtained results, the appropriate reaction processes for the production of ^(82)Sr and ^(68)Ge isotopes on Rb-85, Ga-69, and Ga-71 targets are discussed.

Predicting uniaxial compressive strength of tuff after accelerated freeze-thaw testing: Comparative analysis of regression models and artificial neural networks

Ignimbrites have been widely used as building materials in many historical and touristic structures in the Kayseri region of Türkiye. Their diverse colours and textures make them a popular choice for modern construction as well. However, ignimbrites are particularly vulnerable to atmospheric conditions, such as freeze-thaw cycles, due to their high porosity, which is a result of their formation process. When water enters the pores of the ignimbrites, it can freeze during cold weather. As the water freezes and expands, it generates internal stress within the stone, causing micro-cracks to develop. Over time, repeated freeze-thaw (F-T) cycles lead to the growth of these micro-cracks into larger cracks, compromising the structural integrity of the ignimbrites and eventually making them unsuitable for use as building materials. The determination of the long-term F-T performance of ignimbrites can be established after long F-T experimental processes. Determining the long-term F-T performance of ignimbrites typically requires extensive experimental testing over prolonged freeze-thaw cycles. To streamline this process, developing accurate predictive equations becomes crucial. In this study, such equations were formulated using classical regression analyses and artificial neural networks (ANN) based on data obtained from these experiments, allowing for the prediction of the F-T performance of ignimbrites and other similar building stones without the need for lengthy testing. In this study, uniaxial compressive strength, ultrasonic propagation velocity, apparent porosity and mass loss of ignimbrites after long-term F-T were determined. Following the F-T cycles, the disintegration rate was evaluated using decay function approaches, while uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) values were predicted with minimal input parameters through both regression and ANN analyses. Simulations of mass attenuation coefficients for shielding materials using the MCNP-X code

In this paper,mass attenuation coefficients of concrete,bricks and cement plaster,as shielding materials,are calculated at 59.5,356,662,1173,1274 and 1333 keV by using the MCNP-X(version 2.4.0) *** numerical simulation results are compared with previous Monte Carlo studies,experimental results and XCOM *** effects of barite on mass attenuation coefficients are *** mass attenuation coefficients increase with the barite ***,our results agree well with experimental studies on gamma ray shielding of *** is flexible for the MN method to change the barite rates in material by small increments,which is experimentally ***,modeled geometry can be used for future approaches such as new designs and new structures especially in investigating new barite-containing materials to build nuclear reactors or high-energy radiation therapy facilities.

Recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment （WEEE） is crucially important since it handles hazardous waste according to ever tightening laws and regulations and it adds benefits to economy and sustainable environment. Disassembly is one of the most important processes performed during the recovery of WEEE. The overall goal of disassembly is to maximize the retrieval of various metals and plastics contained in WEEE in order to reduce their negative effects on human health and environmental sustainability and to increase economic gains. This study aims to evaluate alternative layout configurations for WEEE disassembly systems （WDS）. In this context, various configurations were compared in terms of pre-defined performance criteria, such as the total number of disassembled WEEE and the total revenue from sales, using simulation models. The results of this study show that the perfomaance of a WDS was significantly affected by output transfer systems along with the specialization of operators on certain types of WEEE.

Accelerated mineralization on nanofibers via non-thermal atmospheric plasma assisted glutamic acid templated peptide conjugation

Surface modification by non-thermal atmospheric plasma(NTAP)treatment can produce significantly higher carboxylic groups on the nanofibers(NF)surface,which potentially can increase biomineralization of NF via promoting glutamic acid(GLU)templated peptide ***,electrospun poly(lactide-co-glycolide)(PLGA)scaffolds were treated with NTAP and conjugated with GLU peptide followed by incubation in simulated body fluids for *** effect of NTAP treatment and GLU peptide conjugation on mineralization,surface wettability and roughness were *** results showed that NTAP treatment significantly increased GLU peptide conjugation which consequently enhanced mineralization and mechanical properties of NTAP treated and peptide conjugated NF(GLU-pNF)compared to neat PLGA NF,NTAP treated NF(pNF)and GLU peptide conjugated NF(GLU-NF).The effect of surface modification on human bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells adhesion,proliferation and morphology was evaluated by cell proliferation assay and fluorescent *** demonstrated that cellular adhesion and proliferation were significantly higher on GLU-pNF compared to NF,pNF and *** summary,NTAP treatment could be a promising modification technique to induce biomimetic peptide conjugation and biomineralization for bone tissue engineering applications.

Laser Surface Texturing of Co–Cr–Mo Alloy for Biomedical Applications:A Case Study for the Effects of Process Parameters on Surface Properties

This study presents a comprehensive approach to applying texturing processes created by engraving on the surface of CoCr28Mo alloy workpieces using a 20 W pulsed nanosecond fiber *** hatch strategy and distance,frequency,and scan speed were control parameters for texturing *** effectiveness of the parameters in terms of roughness and contact angle of the texturized surface was *** roughness and contact angle were analyzed using variance analysis to identify each variable's *** has been determined that the roughness of the texture defined by the hatch strategy plays a decisive role in the wettability behavior of the surface;however,the scan speed,frequency,and hatch distance which are among the laser surface texturing conditions are influential in the roughness and contact *** scan speed and hatch distance while decreasing frequency resulted in smoother surfaces,increasing the contact *** having rough surfaces produced with different processing conditions exhibit a super hydrophilic *** contact angle is most sensitive to the hatch distance;however,the frequency has the least influence on the contact *** most and least efficient surface roughness parameters are revealed to be scan speed and hatch distance,respectively.

Comparison via Digital Radiography of Radiopacity Levels of Composite Materials with Various Shades and Viscosities
