MCBC-SMOTE:A Majority Clustering Model for Classification of Imbalanced Data

Datasets with the imbalanced class distribution are difficult to handle with the standard classification *** supervised learning,dealing with the problem of class imbalance is still considered to be a challenging research *** machine learning techniques are designed to operate on balanced datasets;therefore,the state of the art,different undersampling,over-sampling and hybrid strategies have been proposed to deal with the problem of imbalanced datasets,but highly skewed datasets still pose the problem of generalization and noise generation during *** overcome these problems,this paper proposes amajority clusteringmodel for classification of imbalanced datasets known as MCBC-SMOTE(Majority Clustering for balanced Classification-SMOTE).The model provides a method to convert the problem of binary classification into a multi-class *** the proposed algorithm,the number of clusters for themajority class is calculated using the elbow method and the minority class is over-sampled as an average of clustered majority classes to generate a symmetrical class *** proposed technique is cost-effective,reduces the problem of noise generation and successfully disables the imbalances present in between and within *** results of the evaluations on diverse real datasets proved to provide better classification results as compared to state of the art existing methodologies based on several performance metrics.

Due to the exponential growth of video data,aided by rapid advancements in multimedia *** became difficult for the user to obtain information from a large video *** process of providing an abstract of the entire video that includes the most representative frames is known as static video *** method resulted in rapid exploration,indexing,and retrieval of massive video *** propose a framework for static video summary based on a Binary robust Invariant Scalable Keypoint(BrISK)and bisecting K-means clustering *** current method effectively recognizes relevant frames using BrISK by extracting keypoints and the descriptors from video *** video frames’BrISK features are clustered using a bisecting K-means,and the keyframe is determined by selecting the frame that is most near the cluster *** applying any clustering parameters,the appropriate clusters number is determined using the silhouette *** were carried out on a publicly available open video project(OVP)dataset that contained videos of different *** proposed method’s effectiveness is compared to existing methods using a variety of evaluation metrics,and the proposed method achieves a trade-off between computational cost and quality.

Natural radioactivity and Dose Assessment for Brands of Chemical and Organic Fertilizers Used in Saudi Arabia

The activity concentration of naturally occurring radionuclides 40K, 226ra and 232Th have been measured in different brands of fertilizer samples in Saudi Arabia using sodium iodide gamma spectrometry. The results of measurements showed that the mean (ranges) of specific activities for 226ra, 232Th and 40K activities in the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are 64 (35.8 - 120.7), 17 (3.2 - 56.8) and 2453 (744.9 - 4227.1) Bq/kg, respectively. With respect to organic fertilizers under investigation, the average radioactivity of 226ra, 232Th and 40K are 42, 10 and 333 BqKg?1, respectively. radium equivalent activity is not exceed 370 Bq/kg, the maximum permissible limit for radiation dose for all present samples. Average values of the three natural radionuclides measured in the brands of fertilizers used in Saudi Arabia are within the range of values reported in several other countries. This study could be useful as baseline data for radiation exposure to fertilizers and their impact on human health.

Treatment of spent wash water derived from shredded lettuce processing using a combination of electrocoagulation and germicidal ultraviolet light

Objective:Water recycling is a significant part of an overall water management *** current study evaluated electrocoagulation,used in combination with ultraviolet light(at 254 nm),to reduce the organic content and enhance the microbiological quality,of wash water derived from shredded lettuce ***:The composition of spent wash water derived from a commercial lettuce processing operation was used to prepare a simulated solution to be applied to validate the water recycling *** simulated spent wash water was subjected to an electrocoagulation process followed by filtration and a tertiary ultraviolet(254 nm)*** efficacy of the recycling treatment to decrease turbidity(nephelometric turbidity units,biological oxygen demand(BOD),chemical oxygen demand(COD)and decrease in introduced bacterial ***:Spent wash water sampled from a commercial processing line was found to be colloidal in nature(78±26 NTU)with low total solids content(544±87 mg/L),BOD(230±53 mg/L)and COD(309±53 mg/L).An electrocogaultion process performed for 10 min using 3.48 A/m2 current density at pH 6.5 and conductivity of>100μS/cm supported an 87%removal of turbidity,38%reduction in BOD along with 49%decrease in *** electrocoagulation process was also found to reduce the levels of Escherichia coli,Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes by 1-2 log *** tertiary UV treatment of water derived from the electro coagulation process,supported further reduction in model pathogens,although it was noted that the D values for inactivation were in the order of 1.01-1.60 mJ/cm^(2),which compares to 0.22-0.31 mJ/cm^(2) in *** apparent increase in bacterial resistance to ultraviolet was likely due to the UV absorbing low molecular weight constituents within wash water that provided protection against ***:In conclusion,the study demonstrated the feasibility of applying electrocoagulation and UV to rapidly treat spent lettuce wash water to fa

AIM:To evaluate the causes of phakic implantable collamer lens(ICL)exchange/explantation in patients with and without keratoconus(KC)at two tertiary hospitals in riyadh,Saudi ***:A retrospective chart review of all patients who underwent ICL(model V4 c with central port)exchange/explantation was performed using the electronic medical record *** available preoperative and postoperative data were documented for each ***:Over 7 y,2283 ICL implantation procedures were performed;46 implants(2%)required exchange(21 implants)/explantation(25 implants),of which 14 cases(30.4%)were patients with *** for ICL exchange/explantation in non-KC group were vault measurement,cataract formation,increased intraocular pressure,inaccurate refraction,and patient dissatisfaction in 22(68.75%),4(12.5%),3(9.37%),2(6.25%),and 1(3.12%)case,*** most common indication for ICL exchange/explantation in the KC group was inaccurate vault sizing in 11 patients(78.57%),inaccurate refraction in 2 patients(14.28%),and patient dissatisfaction postoperatively in 1(7.14%)***:ICL implantation results in predictable refractive outcomes over the long term with exchange/explantation rates comparable to previous *** vault size is the most common cause of ICL exchange/explantation among patients with or without KC.

An Optimal Scheme for WSN Based on Compressed Sensing

Wireless sensor networks(WSNs)is one of the renowned ad hoc network technology that has vast varieties of applications such as in computer networks,bio-medical engineering,agriculture,industry and many *** has been used in the internet-of-things(IoTs)applications.A method for data collecting utilizing hybrid compressive sensing(CS)is developed in order to reduce the quantity of data transmission in the clustered sensor network and balance the network *** cluster head nodes are chosen first from each temporary cluster that is closest to the cluster centroid of the nodes,and then the cluster heads are selected in order based on the distance between the determined cluster head node and the undetermined candidate cluster head ***,each ordinary node joins the cluster that is nearest to *** greedy CS is used to compress data transmission for nodes whose data transmission volume is greater than the threshold in a data transmission tree with the Sink node as the root node and linking all cluster head *** simulation results demonstrate that when the compression ratio is set to ten,the data transfer volume is reduced by a factor of *** compared to clustering and SPT without CS,it is reduced by 75%and 65%,*** compared to SPT with Hybrid CS and Clustering with hybrid CS,it is reduced by 35%and 20%,*** and SPT without CS are compared in terms of node data transfer volume standard *** with Hybrid CS and clustering with Hybrid CS were both reduced by 62%and 80%,*** compared to SPT with hybrid CS and clustering with hybrid CS,the latter two were reduced by 41%and 19%,respectively.

Have one ever seen a semiconductor that can issue two-color lasing lines? The diluted magnetic semiconductor (DMS) can do ***, we have observed dual lasing lines of 530 nm and 789 nm from a DMS structure of CdS:NiI, in which the excitonic magneticpolaron (EMP) and localized excitonic magnetic polaron (LEMP) are excitations out of ferromagnetic (NiS)x nanocluster and NiI2nanoclusters within CdS lattice;both of them could lead to the collective EMP state at high excitation and therein produce coherentemission lines simultaneously. This occurrence is due to the superposition of EMP near CdS bandedge and the combination of thecharge-transfer band of (NiI)n cluster with the LEMP within CdS lattice by overcoming the strong electron correlation of NiI clusterin a DMS structure, evidenced also by ab initio calculation. This finding opens a way to understand the collective behaviour of spincoupled excitons in DMS and to find novel applications in the spin-related quantum technology.

Single nucleotide polymorphism within chromosome 8q24 is associated with prostate cancer development in Saudi Arabia

Objective: Genome-wide association studies have demonstrated that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are important risk factors for the development of prostate cancer (PCa). Preliminary studies have suggested that the incidence of PCa in Saudi males is low but is probably familial or genetically ***: To identify any possible association of SNP with PCa development in Saudi patients, we investigated a group of SNPs in Saudi PCa patients (n=85) and compared the outcomes to healthy normal controls (n=115) and nodular hyperplasia patients (n=120). DNA was extracted from paraffin-embedded formalin fixed tissue or whole blood from both patients’ groups and healthy control group. A total of thirteen SNPs were genotyped using TaqMan® minor groove binder polymerase chain reaction ***: The rs16901979A, s629242T and rs1447295A alleles were found at significantly higher frequency in PCa patients than controls (prs16901979 CA genotype was found at significantly greater frequency in PCa patients than in healthy controls (43% vs. 14%, odds ratio=4.6, p=0.0001) and benign hyperplasia group (43% vs. 25%, odds ratio=2.2, p=0.009).Conclusion: Our study has highlighted the association of rs16901979 SNP with PCa in Saudi males. Such findings have important implications in the PCa diagnosis and in screening unaffected family members of Saudi patients.
