OBJECTIVE:To study th. management and evaluate anatomical and functional outcomes of patients with.ipsilateral proximal and sh.ft femoral fractures.;METh.DS:A retrospective, descriptive and analytic study lasted for ten years and a h.lf ranging from January 1, 2005 to June 30, 2015. Th. following parameters were studied: epidemiology, fracture ch.racteristics, th.rapeutic, anatomical and functional outcomes. Th. correlation between different parameters was analyzed with.Fisch.r test. Th. significant th.esh.ld was defined for p value h.re were 7 men and 3 women, with.a sex ratio of 2.33. Th. average age was 46 years (range: 29-62 years). It was about traffic road accidents in all cases. Motorcycle-motorcycle and motorcycle-car collision were most frequent. Average admission delay was 7 h.(range: 1.5-24 h.. Left side was most reach.d in 8 cases. According to Garden classification, th.re was type III cervical fracture in 2 cases, type II in 1 case and type IV in 1 case. According to Ender classification, th.re was type I troch.nteric fracture in 3 cases, type VI in 2 cases and type VII in 1 case. According to AO classification, th.re was type A sh.ft fracture in 6 cases (A2 in 4 cases and A3 in 2 cases), type B in 2 cases (B1 in 1 case and B2 in 1 case) and type C in 2 cases (C1 in 1 case and C2 in 1 case). Average surgical delay was 28.7 days (range: 11-61 days). For proximal femoral fracture, Moore prosth.sis was used in 1 case, blade plate 130° in 2 cases, long Gamma nail in 4 cases, double screwing in 2 cases and dynamic h.p screw in 1 case. For sh.ft femoral fracture, blade plate 95° was used in 3 cases, low compressive plate in 2 cases. Osseous contention was ach.eved in 4 cases with.long Gamma nail and in 1 case with.long blade plate 130°. Nonunion of cervical fracture was ach.eved in 2 cases. Composition and Distribution of Mosquito Vectors in a Peri-Urban Community Surrounding an Institution of Learning in Lafia Metropolis,Nasarawa State,Central Nigeria

＜正＞ Disposition of th. sterol-lowering ezetimibe （EZ） is influenced by th. intestinal efflux transporters Pglycoprotein and MRP2 and th. glucuronosyltransferase UGT1A1. To evaluate th.ir role in h.patic elimination of EZ and its glucuronide （GLUC）, disposition of EZ was studied in presence of rifampicin, wh.ch.inh.bits MRP2 and h.patic drug uptake by OATP1B1. Disposition of EZ （20 mg, po） alone and in presence of rifampicin （600 mg, po） was measured cross-over in 8 h.alth. subjects （22-36 years, BMI 20.4-23.9, all SLCO1B1* 1a/ *1a）. EZ and GLUC in serum, urine and feces and th. plant sterols campesterol and sitosterol in serum were quantified using LC-MS/MS. After rifampicin. AUC and fecal excretion of EZ were decreased （140±86.3 vs. 102±37.6 ng * h. ml, ns;10.4±1.8vs. 7.6±2.2mg, p＜0.05） wh.reas AUC and renal excretion of GLUC were markedly increased （1030±370 vs. 2150±690 ng * h. ml;2.0±1.2 vs. 4.9±1.9mg, both.p＜0.05）. Rifampicin did not influence th. effects of EZ on plant sterol absorption. Co-medication of rifampicin increases systemic exposure with.GLUC most likely by inh.bition of its intestinal secretion and h.patic uptake but does not influence th. sterol lowering effect of EZ.

Vector surveillance is very key in solving mosquito-borne h.alth.problems in Nigeria.To th.s end,th. composition and distribution of mosquito vectors in a peri-urban community surrounding an institution of learning in Lafia metropolis,Nasarawa State,Central Nigeria was carried out between December 2016 and June 2017.Th. Prokopack Aspirator was used to collect indoor resting mosquitoes between 6:00 a.***.and 9:00 a.***.from 30 randomly selected h.uses.Mosquitoes collected were knocked down and transferred into a well labelled petri-dish.and taken to th. laboratory for processing.A total of 664 mosquitoes were collected wh.ch.spread across Culex quinquefasciatus 572(86.14%),Anoph.les gambiae 88(13.25%)and Aedes aegypti 4(0.60%).Th. abundance of mosquitoes in relation to seasons,species,sex,abdominal conditions as well as transmission indices across seasons significantly varied(Ph. distribution of mosquito in relation to h.use types sh.wed no significant difference(P>0.05).Th. inh.bitants of th. area sh.uld ensure th.t all drainages flow th.ough.so as to reduce mosquito breeding grounds.Also,members of th. community sh.uld always protect th.mselves by sleeping under insecticide treated bed nets.
