AIM: To compare the effectiveness of brimonidine/timolol fixed combination(BTFC) and dorzolamide/timolol fixed combination(DTFC) in the management of short-term intraocular pressure(IOP) increase after phacoemulsification surgery.·METHODS: Eighty eyes of 80 patients undergoing phacoemulsification and intraocular lens(IOL)implantation were randomly assigned into three *** 1 consisted of 28 eyes and represented the control group. Group 2 consisted of 25 eyes undergoing phacoemulsification surgery and BTFC was instilled at the end of surgery. Group 3 consisted of 27 eyes undergoing phacoemulsification surgery and DTFC was instilled at the end of surgery. IOP was measured preoperatively and 6, 24 h and 1wk postoperatively.·RESULTS: There was no statistically significant difference in preoperative baseline IOP among the three groups(P =0.84). However, IOP was significantly lower in groups 2 and 3 compared to the control group(P 25 mm Hg at 6h after surgery(P =0.008). However, IOP decreased and was >25 mm Hg in only one eye in each group at24 h after surgery.·CONCLUSION: BTFC and DTFC have similar effects in reducing increases in IOP after phacoemulsificationsurgery and can both be recommended for preventing IOP spikes after such surgery.

目的:分析Duane眼球后退综合征(DRS)患者的临床特点及手术疗效。方法:评估94例DRS患者临床数据。记录完整的眼科数据,包括年龄、性别、侧位、DRS类型、偏角、异常头部姿势(AHP)、眼球后退、过冲及手术入路类型。结果:患者年龄为15.4±9.18岁,其中78例男性,16例女性。单侧和双侧受累分别为87%和13%。在单侧DRS患者中,左眼占65%。94例患者中,59.5%的患者为I型,29.7%的患者为II型,8.5%的患者为III型,2.1%的患者为IV型。大多数患者(36,38%)为嗜热性,43例(96%)患者术前AHP出现10°以上。有40例(43%)患者出现过度调校,通常为II型。对45例(48%)患者进行手术治疗。共32例(78%)行水平直肌手术后获得了较好疗效,24例(53%)患者AHP改善。结论:侧直肌的Y分裂和后榫固定在有明显过校的情况下都有令人满意的结果。垂直直肌转位增强术在限制外展方面取得了最佳效果。

Nonlinear response history analyses and use of strong ground motion data including near-field effects has become a common practice in both performance based design of tall buildings and design of base-isolated buildings. On the other hand, ordinary buildings are commonly analysed via response spectrum analysis following the rules of conventional seismic codes, most of which do not take near-field effects into account. This study evaluates the necessity and the adequacy of near-source factors for ordinary fixed-base buildings that are not specifically classified as tall, by comparing dynamic responses of 3, 8, and 15-story benchmark buildings obtained via （1） linear time history analyses using 220 record components from 13 historical earthquakes and 45 synthetic earthquake records of different magnitudes and fault distances and （2） response spectrum analyses in accordance with the Turkish Earthquake Code 2007 -representing seismic codes not taking near-field effects into account- and the Uniform Building Code 1997 which takes near-field effects into account via near-source factors that amplify design response spectrum. It is shown that near-source factors are crucial for the safe design of not-so-tall ordinary fixed-base buildings but those defined in UBC97 may still not be adequate for those located in the vicinity of the fault.

AIM： To determine the effect of chemotherapy on wound healing by giving early preoperative 5-fluorouracil （5-FU） to rats with colonic ***： Sixty Albino-Wistar male rats （median weight, 235 g） were used in this study. The rots were fed with standard laboratory food and given tap water ad libitum. The animals were divided into three groups： Group 1： Control group （chemotherapy was not administered）, Group 2： Intraperitoneally （IP） administered 5-FU group （chemotherapy was administered IP to animals at a dose of 20 mg/kg daily during the 5 d preceeding surgery）, Group 3： Intravenously （IV） administered 5-FU group. Chemotherapy was administered v/a the penil vein, using the same dosing scheme and duration as the second group. After a 3-d rest to minimize the side effects of chemotherapy, both groups underwent surgery. One centimeter of colon was resected 2 cm proximally from the peritoneal reflection, then sutured intermittently and subsequently end-to-end anastomosed. In each group, half the animals were given anaesthesia on the 3rd postoperative （PO） day and the other half on the 7th PO day, for in vivo analytic procedures. The abdominal incisions in the rats were dissected, all the new and old anastomotic segments were clearly seen and bursting pressures of each anastomotic segment, tissue hydroxyproline levels and DNA content were determined to assess the histologic tissue repair process. RESULTS： When the IV group was compared with the IP group, bursting pressures of the anastomotic segments on the 3rd and 7th PO days, were found to be significantly decreased, hydroxyproline levels at the anastomotic segment on the 7th PO day were significantly decreased （P 〈 0.01）. CONCLUSION： In this study, we conclude that early preoperative 5-FU, administered IV, negatively affects wound healing. However, IP administered 5-FU does not negatively affect wound healing.

AIM: To determine the discriminating performance of the macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer(GCIPL) parameters between all the consecutive stages of glaucoma(from healthy to moderate-to-severe glaucoma), and to compare it with the discriminating performances of the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL) parameters and optic nerve head(ONH) ***: Totally 147 eyes(40 healthy, 40 glaucoma suspects, 40 early glaucoma, and 27 moderate-to-severe glaucoma) of 133 subjects were included. Optical coherence tomography(OCT) was obtained using Cirrus HD-OCT 5000. The diagnostic performances of GC-IPL, RNFL, and ONH parameters were evaluated by determining the area under the curve(AUC) of the receiver operating characteristics. RESULTS: All GC-IPL parameters discriminated glaucoma suspect patients from subjects with healthy eyes and moderate-to-severe glaucoma from early glaucoma patients(P<0.017, for all). Also, minimum, inferotemporal and inferonasal GC-IPL parameters discriminated early glaucoma patients from glaucoma suspects, whereas no RNFL or ONH parameter could discriminate between the two. The best parameters to discriminate glaucoma suspects from subjects with healthy eyes were superonasal GC-IPL, superior RNFL and average c/d ratio(AUC=0.746, 0.810 and 0.746, respectively). Discriminating performances of all the parameters for early glaucoma vs glaucoma suspect comparison were lower than that of the other consecutive group comparisons, with the bestGC-IPL parameters being minimum and inferotemporal(AUC=0.669 and 0.662, respectively). Moreover, minimum GC-IPL, average RNFL, and rim area(AUC=0.900, 0.858, 0.768, respectively) were the best parameters for discriminating moderate-to-severe glaucoma patients from early glaucoma ***: GC-IPL parameters can discriminate glaucoma suspect patients from subjects with healthy eyes, and also all the consecutive stages of glaucoma from each other(from glaucoma suspect to moderate-tosevere

Effects of maturity stages on textural mechanical properties of tomato

The textural mechanical properties of Jadelo F1 variety tomato were evaluated at three different mature stages(green,pink and red)which were classified according to the colors of the *** compression and the puncture tests were applied on *** cycling and relaxation tests showed that indexes of average firmness,energy absorption and deformation ratio were more sensitive parameters to maturity stages than *** puncture tests indicated that maturity stages were effective on initial and average firmness and skin rupture *** the rigidity and the firmness of the fruit reduced,it was more prone to mechanical damage in the process of *** initial firmness values obtained fromcompressiontest and average firmness values from puncture tests had the highest correlation with each other which indicates that they can be used as representative parameter for ***,it was found that a/b color parameter can be good indicator for evaluating mechanical properties of tomato.

Dynamic impacts such as wind and earthquakes cause loss of life and economic *** ensure safety against these effects,various measures have been taken from past to present and solutions have been developed using different *** buildings are more susceptible to vibrations such as wind and ***,vibration control has become an important issue in civil *** study optimizes tuned mass damper inerter(TMDI)using far-fault ground motion *** study derives the optimum parameters of TMDI using the Adaptive Harmony Search *** displacement and total acceleration against earthquake load are analyzed to assess the performance of the TMDI *** effect of the inerter when connected to different floors is observed,and the results are compared to the conventional tuned mass damper(TMD).It is indicated that the case of connecting the inerter force to the 5th floor gives better *** a result,TMD and TMDI systems reduce the displacement by 21.87%and 25.45%,respectively,and the total acceleration by 25.45%and 19.59%,*** percentage reductions indicated that the structure resilience against dynamic loads can be increased using control systems.

Base isolators used in buildings provide both a good acceleration reduction and structural vibration control *** base isolators may lose their damping capacity over time due to environmental or dynamic *** deterioration of them requires the determination of the maintenance and repair needs and is important for the long-termisolator *** this study,an artificial intelligence prediction model has been developed to determine the damage and maintenance-repair requirements of isolators as a result of environmental effects and dynamic factors over *** the developed model,the required damping capacity of the isolator structure was estimated and compared with the previously placed isolator capacity,and the decrease in the damping property was tried to be *** this purpose,a data set was created by collecting the behavior of structures with single degrees of freedom(SDOF),different stiffness,damping ratio and natural period isolated from the foundation under far fault *** data is divided into 5 different damping classes varying between 10%and 50%.Machine learning model was trained in damping classes with the data on the structure’s response to random seismic *** a result of the isolator behavior under randomly selected earthquakes,the recorded motion and structural acceleration of the structure against any seismic vibration were examined,and the decrease in the damping capacity was estimated on a class *** performance loss of the isolators,which are separated according to their damping properties,has been tried to be determined,and the reductions in the amounts to be taken into account have been determined by *** the developed prediction model,using various supervised machine learning classification algorithms,the classification algorithm providing the highest precision for the model has been *** the results are examined,it has been determined that the damping of the isolator structure with the
