Visualizing ordered bivariate data on node-link diagrams

Node-link visual representation is a widely used tool that allows decision-makers to see details about a network through the appropriate choice of visual ***,existing visualization methods are not always effective and efficient in representing bivariate graph-based *** study proposes a novel node-link visual model–visual entropy(Vizent)graph–to effectively represent both primary and secondary values,such as uncertainty,on the edges *** performed two user studies to demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of our approach in the context of static nodelink *** the first experiment,we evaluated the performance of the Vizent design to determine if it performed equally well or better than existing alternatives in terms of response time and *** static visual encodings that use two visual cues were selected from the literature for comparison:Width-Lightness,Saturation-Transparency,and Numerical *** compared the Vizent design to the selected visual encodings on various graphs ranging in complexity from 5 to 25 edges for three different *** participants achieved higher accuracy of their responses using Vizent and Numerical values;however,both Width-Lightness and Saturation-Transparency did not show equal performance for all *** results suggest that increasing graph size has no impact on Vizent in terms of response time and *** performance of the Vizent graph was then compared to the Numerical values *** Wilcoxon signed-rank test revealed that mean response time in seconds was significantly less when the Vizent graphs were presented,while no significant difference in accuracy was *** results from the experiments are encouraging and we believe justify using the Vizent graph as a good alternative to traditional methods for representing bivariate data in the context of node-link diagrams.

Investigation of micro-scale shear response of sand–rubber granule mixture in terms of particle shape and grain scale deformability effects

Accurate definition and management of idiopathic sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis

AIM: To review the literature on idiopathic sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis(SEP), also known as abdominal cocoon syndrome. METHODS: The Pub Med, MEDLINE, Google Scholar, and Google databases were searched using specific key words to identify articles related to idiopathic SEP. These key words were "sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis," "idiopathic sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis," "abdominal cocoon," and "abdominal cocoon syndrome." The search included letters tothe editor, case reports, review articles, original articles, and meeting presentations published in the English-language literature from January 2000 to May 2014. Articles or abstracts containing adequate information about age, sex, symptom duration, initial diagnosis, radiological tools, and surgical approaches were included in the study. Papers with missing or inadequate data were excluded. RESULTS: The literature search yielded 73 articles on idiopathic(primary) SEP published in 23 countries. The four countries that published the greatest number of articles were India(n = 21), Turkey(n = 14), China(n = 8) and Nigeria(n = 3). The four countries that reported the greatest number of cases were China(n = 104; 53.88%), India(n = 35; 18.13%), Turkey(n = 17; 8.80%) and Nigeria(n = 5; 2.59%). The present study included 193 patients. Data on age could be obtained for 184 patients(range: 7-87 years; mean ± SD, 34.7 ± 19.2 years), but were unavailable for nine patients. Of the 184 patients, 122 were male and 62 were female; sex data could not be accessed in the remaining nine patients. Of the 149 patients whose preoperative diagnosis information could be obtained, 65(43.6%) underwent operations for abdominal cocoon, while the majority of the remaining patients underwent operations for a presumed diagnosis of intestinal obstruction and/or abdominal mass. Study for obtaining the exact solutions for the propagation of pulses in optical fibers

In this study, the exact solutions for the propagation of pulses in optical fibers are *** values are given in the model used, and two nonlinear differential equations are *** equations are reduced to ordinary differential equations with the help of wave transformations. Then, the obtained differential equations are solved by two different methods,namely the modified simplest equation and the modified Kudryashov procedures. The solutions are given by hyperbolic, trigonometric and rational functions and the results are useful for optics,engineering and other related areas. Finally three-dimensional, contour and two-dimensional shapes are given for some solutions. These figures are important for understanding the motion of the wave. The given methods are applied to the equations for the first time. To the best of the authors' knowledge, these results are new and have not been obtained in the literature. The results are useful for applied mathematics, physics and other related areas.

BOUNDEDNESS OF FRACTIONAL MAXIMAL OPERATOR AND THEIR HIGHER ORDER COMMUTATORS IN GENERALIZED MORREY SPACES ON CARNOT GROUPS

In the article we consider the fractional maximal operator Mα, 0 ≤α 〈 Q on any Carnot group G （i.e., nilpotent stratified Lie group） in the generalized Morrey spaces Mp,φ（G）, where Q is the homogeneous dimension of G. We find the conditions on the pair （φ1, φ2） which ensures the boundedness of the operator Ms from one generalized Morrey space Mp,φ1 （G） to another Mq,φ2 （G）, 1. 〈 p ≤q 〈 ∞. 1/p - 1/q = α/Q, and from the space M1,φ1 （G） to the weak space Wq,φ2 （G）, 1 〈 q 〈 ∞, 1 - 1/q = α/Q. Also find conditions on the φ which ensure the Adams type boundedness of the Ms from M α （G） from Mp,φ^1/p（G）to Mq,φ^1/q（G） for 1 〈p〈q〈∞ and fromM1,φ（G） toWMq,φ^1/q（G）for 1〈q〈∞. In the case b ∈ BMO（G） and 1 〈 p 〈 q 〈 ∞, find the sufficient conditions on the pair （φ1, φ2） which ensures the boundedness of the kth-order commutator operator Mb,α,k from Mp,φ1 （G） to Mq,φ2（G） with 1/p - 1/q = α/Q. Also find the sufficient conditions on the φ which ensures the boundedness of the operator Mb,α,k from Mp,φ^1/p（G） tom Mp,φ^1/p （G） for 1 〈p〈q〈∞. In all the cases the conditions for the boundedness of Mα are given it terms of supremaltype inequalities on （φ1, φ2） and φ , which do not assume any assumption on monotonicity of （φ1, φ2） and φ in r. As applications we consider the SchrSdinger operator -△G ＋ V on G, where the nonnegative potential V belongs to the reverse Holder class B∞（G）. The MB,φ1 - Mq,φ2 estimates for the operators V^γ（-△G ＋ V）^-β and V^γ△↓G（-△G ＋ V）^-β are obtained.

The authors consider a differentiable manifold with H-structure which is an isomorphic representation of an associative, commutative and unitial algebra. For Riemannian metric tensor fields, the φ-operators associated with r-regular H-structure are introduced. With the help of φ-operators, the hyperholomorphity condition of B-manifolds is established.
