Measures of ionizing radiation were observed in a tower which is 20 meters above the ground relative height. They show a distinct period of 24 hours oscillation during this Februaryl 1 to April 11, 2015. It is suggested that these oscillations originate from radon gas （222Rn） vented from the ground floor. One Russian specific Geiger tube with associated electronics developed at ITA was used, Monitoring of ionizing radiation from 30 keV to l0 MeV shows that the X and gamma rays up to 3.0 MeV is prevalent in the region comes from the Radon gas 222Rn that decay in 214Bi and 214pb in the energies of the gamma rays 0.269, 0.609 and 1.05 MeV respectively. Then, with this simple, portable instrument was possible to monitoring the dynamics of radon gas in the region every interval minutes.

In this study,the relationship between spinodal decomposition and the formation of Ni-rich clusters and G-phase in the ferrite on hardening and pitting corrosion of two thermally aged duplex stainless steels(DSSs)at 475℃was *** indicate that,for 2205 DSS,pitting corrosion behavior is influenced by the presence and size of G-phase precipitates for longer aging times,but this contribution is masked by the advanced stage of spinodal decomposition in the ferritic *** the other hand,for 2101 DSS,the formation of Cr-richer nitrides impairs pitting corrosion resistance more than spinodal decomposition.

Objective: To evaluate anti-Candida and anti-Cryptococcus activities of 15 nonalkaloidal compounds from Pterogyne nitens Tulasne(leguminosae), a South American medicinal ***: Compounds were submitted to antifungal assays, using microdilution method described by Clinical and laboratory Standards Institute document, with minor modifications. Five species of Candida and two species of Cryptococcus, including clinical isolates were screened. Antifungal activity was expressed by minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC). Amphotericin B and fluconazole were used as standard antifungal ***: Among tested compounds, six substances presented fungal growth inhibition(MIC l) [three flavone derivatives(1–3), a glycosylated flavonol derivative(5)and two phenolic acids(10 and 12)]. Sorbifolin(1), exhibited potent antifungal activity,demonstrating MIC value of 3.90 mg/m l against Candida glabrata ATCC 90030, Cryptococcus gattii 118 and fluconazole-resistant clinical isolate of Cryptococcus neoformans var. grubii. Pedalin(2) and nitensoside B(3), two glycosylated flavone derivatives, were active against Cryptococcus neoformans ATCC 90012(MIC = 7.80 mg/m l).Conclusions: Flavone derivatives from Pterogyne nitens can serve as prototypes for the design and development of innovative anti-Candida and anti-Cryptococcus hits.

The new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) broke out in Wuhan in China in December 2019, causing severe pneumonia and deaths, soon in March 2020, it reached pandemic level, affecting several countries including Brazil. The disease was named COVID-19, with characteristics of most infected having mild and moderate symptoms and a part severe symptom. The disease has already reached 158 ethnic groups, which have high vulnerability and limited access to health services. The objective is to investigate the clinical and spatial characteristics of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome of COVID-19 in the indigenous peoples of Brazil. It is an epidemiological, cross-sectional, analytical ecological study, based on data from the OpenDataSUS platform from 01/01/2020 to 31/08/2020. Profile variables, signs and symptoms and risk factors/comorbidities. The data were analyzed by Bioestat 5.3. There were 1,207 cases and 470 deaths. Profile: male gender (59.48%) means age 53 years. Signs and symptoms: fever (74.23%), cough (77.71%), sore throat (35.62%), dyspnea (69.34%), respiratory discomfort (62.80%), O2 saturation ciated with mortality: dyspnea (80.0%) and O2 saturation ciated with deaths (54.04%). About comorbidities, chronic cardiovascular diseases represented (18.97%) and Diabetes Mellitus (18.97%), and associated with deaths: Chronic Cardiovascular Disease (24.46%). Being admitted to the ICU has a risk of death in (OR-3.96- llowed by not being vaccinated against influenza (OR-1.85- lic and health policies of Brazil should be directed to control the dissemination of COVID-19 in this population, that COVID-19 evolves in the same intensity, however, the indigenous have vulnerabilities that can increase the impact of the pandemic in this population.

The intensification of anthropic uses (i.e., increase of the hemerobic condition) threatens the remnants of native vegetation due to the reduction of its self-regulation capacity. In this research, the Distance to Nature (D2N) index for land use and land cover was applied in the Río Grande de Comitán watershed (Southern Mexico) to answer the following questions: 1) What were the land use dynamics observed in the Rio Grande de Comitán watershed in the trajectory through 1999, 2009 and 2019? 2) Does the subcategorization of the D2N allow one to identify which anthropic uses influence more the territorial expression of the watershed? To answer these questions, we performed a supervised classification of land use and land cover was performed in this watershed, and for the D2N index, the classification was simplified to three-category scale for the subcategorization of the anthropic component. Through Principal Component Analysis (PCA), we identified that agricultural anthropogenic use had the greatest influence on territorial expression. The reported scenario indicates a trend of gradual and continuous reduction of naturalness over the last 20 years. Additionally, the D2N index proved to be a useful tool to demonstrate both the anthropic impact, with the simplified scale, and the component that most influences the territory, by subcategorizing the anthropic scale.

The linearity, stability, accuracy and inter-day precisions of the assay method were evaluated in methanolic aerial-part extracts of Paepalanthus giganteus and Syngontnhus nitens from the Eriocaulaceae family. Their small capitulae hinder morphological analysis, and thus complicate taxonomic studies of these species, which present anti-ulcer, antimutagenic and antioxidant activities. Taxonomic studies of these plants revealed that the Paepalanthus genus presents flavonols and naphthopyranones while the Syngontnhus genus has flavone and xanthone as majority compounds. The prepared samples were analyzed quantitatively by High Performance liquid Chromatography with PDA detection for the presence of quercetin, luteolin, 3,6-dimethoxy-1,5,7-tri-hydroxyxanthone and paepalantine. The substances were recovered from these samples at rates from 98.01 to 99.99%. The coefficient of variation in the quantitative analysis of the sample com- pounds was under 5%. The linearity of the method was determined by linear regression. The analysis of the samples spiked with known amounts of analyte demonstrated that the response was proportional to the concentrations of the sam- ples with re-spective determination coefficients of r2 = 0.9999 (luteolin and 3,6-dimethoxy-1,5,7-tri-hydroxyxanthone) and r2 = 0.9998 (quercetin and paepalantine) for the linear range of the analytical calibration curves of the samples. The detection limits were 0.07 μg?ml–1 for quercetin and luteolin, 0.06 μg?ml–1 for 3,6-dimethoxy-1,5,7-tri-hydroxyxanthone and 0.10 μg?ml–1 for paepalantine. The quantification limits were 0.23 μg?ml–1 for quercetin and luteolin, 0.20 μg?ml–1 for 3,6-dimethoxy-1,5,7-tri-hydroxyxanthone and 0.33 μg?ml–1 for paepalantine by lC. The method was considered sen- sitive for quantification of the quercetin, luteolin, 3,6-dimethoxy-1,5,7-tri-hydroxyxanthone and paepalantine in plant samples.

l-Arginine Supplementation and Nitric Oxide Production:No Additional Effect When Associated to Exercise

l-arginine is an amino acid semiessencial considered a precursor of nitric oxide, a gas mainly produced in endothelial cells. Nutritional supplements based on the amino acid l-arginine have been broadly marketed in order to increase vasodilation and the blood supply to muscle in order to optimize metabolic responses induced by exercise. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of l-arginine supplementation on nitric oxide production in response to exercise. Furthermore, the biochemical parameters of muscle fatigue were assessed. Fourteen trained runners were divided in two groups, supplemented with l-arginine (ARG) and placebo (PlA). Blood samples were collected before supplementation (T0), immediately after the first exercise session (T1), immediately after the second exercise session (T2), and after 20 minutes of rest (T3). Plasma cyclic guanosine monophosphate was assessed as a marker of nitric oxide production. The biochemical parameters of muscle fatigue analyzed were plasma lactate and ammonia. There was significant increase in plasma cyclic guanosine monophosphate in both groups in response to exercise: ARG (T0: 3.6 ± 1.4;T1: 17.9 ± 5.8;T2: 15.9 ± 5.3;T3: 7.3 ± 2.5 pmol/ml) and PlA (T0: 4.1 ± 1.1;T1: 18.8 ± 9.9;T2: 16.1 ± 3.5;T3: 9.3 ± 3.7 pmol/ml). A significant reduction in plasma lactate and ammonia were observed in the recovery period after exercise (T3). However, no significant difference was observed between groups in the variables studied. Therefore, l-arginine supplementation was unable to increase the effects of exercise on nitric oxide production and did not improve the metabolic responses to exercise in runners.

n this work, we present synthesis of the compounds trans-[Ru(NH3)4l(bpa)]2+ where l is pyridine ligands: pyridine (py), isonicotinamide (isn), 4-acetylpyridine (4-acpy) and 4-picoline (4-pic) and 1,2-bis (4-pyridyl) ethane (bpa), their characterization by UV-visible spectroscopy and electrochemical properties. This series shows intense bands in the region between 400 and 515 nm, allocated bands charge transfer (MlCT), the influence of substituents on the pyridine ring (4-acpy and isn), and the interaction between the ligand and the metal, causing a second MlCT band, which is lighter and has more energy. The compound is characterized by spectroscopy by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The displacement observed in the symmetrical stretching of νs(CCN) group in the complex compared with the νs(CCN) group in the free ligand is indicative of coordination of the pyridine group to the Ruthenium (II) metallic center. The electrochemical data (cyclic voltammetry) show that reversibility criteria are well defined and formal Ef potential, indicating the influence of the pyridine ring substituent.
