In this paper we are presenting an intelligent method for controlling population size in evolutionary algorithms. The method uses Mediative Fuzzy Logic for modeling knowledge from experts about what should be the behavior of population size through generations based on the fitness variance and the number of generations that the algorithm is being stuck. Since, it is common that this kind of knowledge expertise can be susceptible to disagreement in a minor or a major part. We selected Mediative Fuzzy Logic (MFL) as a fuzzy method to achieve the inference. MFL is a novelty fuzzy inference method that can handle imperfect knowledge in a broader way than traditional fuzzy logic does.

In vitro gas production technique（IVGPT） was used with the objective of determining the inclusion effect of live cells of two strains of Candida yeast on in vitro ruminal fermentation of two fibrous substrates. In order to achieve this, two experiments were performed： A） using oat straw（Avena sativa） as substrate; B） using alfalfa hay（Medicabo sativa） as substrate, comparing the effect of two different strains of Candida genre, both isolated from the rumen, on the mentioned substrates. Levica 25（Candida tropicalis） yeast belongs to the culture collection of the Institute of Animal Science, Cuba, and Levazoot 15（Candida norvegensis） yeast is part of the collection of the Faculty of Zootechnology and Ecology of the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, Mexico. Both strains demonstrated their potential in activating the ruminal fermentation. They stimulated（P〈0.0001） the ruminal fermentation of the substrates under study. However, the Levazoot strain stimulated the dry matter（DM） fermentation of alfalfa in 21.43%, more than Levica 25. It is concluded that there is an influence of yeast strain and diet on the rumen environment and, therefore, it is important to select the appropriate strain in every production condition.

At present,Alzheimer’s disease(AD)and type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)are two highly prevalent disorders worldwide,especially among elderly individuals.T2DM appears to be associated with cognitive dysfunction,with a higher risk of developing neurocognitive disorders,including *** diseases have been observed to share various pathophysiological mechanisms,including alterations in insulin signaling,defects in glucose transporters(GLUTs),and mitochondrial dysfunctions in the ***,the aim of this review is to summarize the current knowledge regarding the molecular mechanisms implicated in the association of these pathologies as well as recent therapeutic *** this context,the hyperphosphorylation of tau and the formation of neurofibrillary tangles have been associated with the dysfunction of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase and mitogen-activated protein kinase pathways in the nervous tissues as well as the decrease in the expression of GLUT-1 and GLUT-3 in the different areas of the brain,increase in reactive oxygen species,and production of mitochondrial alterations that occur in *** findings have contributed to the implementation of overlapping pharmacological interventions based on the use of insulin and antidiabetic drugs,or,more recently,azeliragon,amylin,among others,which have shown possible beneficial effects in diabetic patients diagnosed with AD.

Adverse weather conditions and intensive use for fiber production have caused decline of natural populations of Agave lechuguilla. By these reasons, it is important to develop a sustainable management of this specie to avoid this situation. One of the first steps is to establish forest plantations as an alternative to restore A. lechuguilla habitat and increase its range while at the same time indirectly reducing erosion rates. The aim of this study was to identify the potential areas for establishment of plantations of A. lechuguilla in the State of Coahuila, Mexico. Areas for planting establishment were selected according to multi-criteria analysis using Geographic Information System (GIS) Idrisi32 Ver 2.0 and 3.2 ***. The analysis was based on comparison of climate and soil requirements in contrast to environmental conditions of the tested area. The evaluated variables were: soil type, texture, depth, average annual temperature, annual precipitation, elevation and slope. Results derive in potential area maps, geo-referenced and their distribution by Agricultural Development District. An area of 5 million 159,273 hectares was determined with potential for establishment of A. lechuguilla forest plantations in the State of Coahuila. It was concluded that, use of GIS is a reliable tool to determine potential areas for A. lechuguilla forest plantations, where this specie has higher probability of success in survival and biomass production. This study will support programs aimed to strengthen the economy of rural producers and also recover and preserve the arid state.

The aim of this study was to assess the effect of inclusion of fermented apple bagasse （FAB） obtained through solid state fermentation on pH, ammonia nitrogen （N-NH3）, volatile fatty acids （VFA） content, in vitro dry matter digestibility （IVDMD）, lactic acid and microbial counting of alfalfa hay under in vitro rumen environment; four levels of FAB were evaluated （0, 0.25, 0.50 and 0. 75 g/dry matter of FAB） replacing 1.5 g dry matter （DM） of alfalfa hay and incubated at different fermentation times （0, 4, 8, 12 and 24 h） using a complete random design with repeated measures on time. Counts of live yeast colonies （6.08, 6.33, 6.24 and 6.51 CFU/mL expressed as log 10） was higher when FAB was included in the different levels up to the 12 h of fermentation （P 〈 0.0001）; lactic acid content also increased as FAB was included in the different levels （10.61, 13.86, 16.84 and 14.57μg/mL） up to the 12 h of incubation （P 〈 0.001）. Nevertheless, the other variables measured as pH, N-NH3, VFA, IVDMD, total bacteria and fungi counts, were not affected by the treatments. It is concluded that substitution of FAB by alfalfa hay in an in vitro rumen ecosystem positively modified live yeast colonies and lactic acid concentration, without effect on the other fermentative and microbial parameters of the in vitro rumen environment, but considering mixes of FAB and alfalfa hay as a quality ingredient for the feeding of ruminants.

The sludge paper of the industry treated with probiotics in solid state fermentation (SSF) could be used as ingredient in rations for animal feeding. This study assessed the effect of four probiotic (Prozoot15?) levels (PT) on chemical and fermentative characteristics in SSF of the paper sludge (PS) at controlled temperature (30°C) in laboratory scale. The tested treatments (T) were: T1 (0% PS), T2 (50 g/kg PS), T3 (100 g/kg PS) and T4 (150 g/kg PS), which were fermented at 0, 24, 48 and 72 h, according to a completely randomized design, in a 4 × 4 factorial arrangement with six repetitions per sampling. All treatments included (g/kg DM) 300 molasses, 15 urea, 20 ammonium sulfate, 9 calcium carbonate and 5 of vitamin and mineral premix, plus the PS which was substituted by the PT at 0, 50, 100 and 150 g/kg DM. The results showed a decrease in pH in all treatments at 24 h;however the lowest pH was at 72 h of fermentation. At 72 h of fermentation, the PT addition in T4 increased crude protein, true protein and yeast counts

Electroencephalographic Abnormalities in Patients with Idiopathic Insomnia

Objective: The main goal of the present research is to describe the electroencephalographic activity during sleep and the cyclic alternating pattern (CAP) on idiopathic insomniac patients. Methods: 22 idiopathic insomnia patients were included. Sleep recording included: fully conventional EEG recording (32 electrodes, with 16 channels getting ipsilateral bipolar recordings), EOG, EMG, EKG, thoracic and abdominal respiratory movements, nasal flow and oximetry. Results: Out of the 22 registered patients, 10 (45%) showed no electroencephalographic alteration, while 12 (55%) exhibited an electroencephalographic alteration (irritative activity). Concerning PSG variables, significant differences between groups (no EEG alteration and EEG alterations) were detected in: sleep latency, total sleep time, total wake time, sleep efficiency, light sleep percentage, slow waves sleep percentage and on the sub type A1 index of the cyclic alternant pattern CAP. Conclusions: The present data strongly suggest that within the population diagnosed with idiopathic insomnia, there is a subgroup in which the electroencephalographic alterations may play a critical role as the source of the sleep abnormality.

There are an estimated 1.19 million wheelchair users in Spain. People use wheelchairs for a variety of reasons, the most common one is paralysis from spinal cord injuries. Current estimates indicate there are around 504,000 people alive in Spain with spinal cord injuries. Among other reasons for using wheelchairs are： fatigue from multiple sclerosis, muscle weakness from muscular dystrophy, lower limb spasticity from cerebral palsy, and missing limbs due to amputation. People who use wheelchairs may encounter a variety of obstacles at their workstations depending on their limitations. Some possible accommodations could be adjustable height desk or table for a person who cannot work comfortably at an existing desk, accessible filing system or office supplies, and frequently used materials on most accessible shelves or drawers for a person who cannot reach upper and lower shelves and drawers. This paper presents the graphical design of a workstation for wheelchair users, in this case, technical, anthropometric, ergonomic, aesthetics and scientists aspects have been analyzed. The design of composite structure conduct to explicit safety constraints applied to office furniture requirements kept continuously current and updated as part of innovation. Finally, results are showed in a three-dimensional model.

Objective: To establish the prevalence and risk factors of Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (POAG) among patients with Systemic Hypertension (SH) and Diabetes Mellitus (DM) in six cities of Colombia. Methods: A cross-sectional study among hypertensive and diabetic patients was conducted in Colombia. This study included 2067 subjects older than 50 years of age diagnosed with SH and/or DM. Participants underwent a complete ophthalmic examination including intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement by Goldmann tonometry and blood pressure measurement. The glaucoma diagnosis was confirmed by structural and functional evidence. Interviews and standardized questionnaires were used to evaluate participants’ lifestyle and other health conditions. Results: Among participants with DM/SH, 142 cases of POAG were confirmed for a prevalence of 5.6% [95% CI: 4.6 - 6.6], while 9.1% were glaucoma suspects [95% CI: 7.8% - 10.4%]. The majority of confirmed cases (77.5%) were undiagnosed. The prevalence of POAG was significantly higher with male gender, greater age, and diastolic blood pressure > 90 mmHg as risk factors. Conclusion: We found a high prevalence of POAG in patients with adequate SH and DM care in a novel Latino population. We also found great unawareness of the disease in this population. Our results have potentially enormous public health implications for Colombia and other Latino populations.
