The energy of tagged photons, which were provided from the internal photon tagging system of the Laboratory of Nuclear Science, Tohoku University, has been calibrated using the d（γ,π-pp） reaction. Charged pions and protons in the final state were detected with the Neutral Kaon Spectrometer （NKS2）. Photon energies were obtained from the reaction of d（γ,π-pp）. The derived photon energy was consistent with the design of the tagger system and the previous measurement using electron-positron pair production. The consistency demonstrates the performance of NKS2 and the capability of the photon energy calibration using d（γ,π-pp）.

Dear Editor,We report a case of Purtscher-like retinopathy in a patient with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Fundus examination revealed extensive peripapillary white retinal patches(Purtscher’s fleckens)and cotton-wool spots(CWS)with minor hemorrhage bilaterally,consistent with Purtscher-like *** coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)showed multiple irregular areas of capillary nonperfusion.

This review examines the potential of hydrogen,ammonia,and biodiesel as alternative fuels,focusing on spray dynamics,droplet evaporation,combustion,and *** offers superior combustion characteristics but faces challenges in NO_(x)*** like nonpremixed direct injection,increased intake boost pressure,and low-pressure EGR are suggested for robust hydrogen combustion in compression-ignition *** of hydrogen start of injection(SOI)and water injection(WI)are identified as effective techniques for reducing NO_(x)*** shows inferior combustion and higher NO_(x)and unburned NH_(3)emissions in the same conditions as conventional fuels with conventional *** ammonia spray and evaporation conditions is significant for optimizing an ammonia-air mixture and minimizing wall impingement and ammonia trap in the crevice,thereby improving combustion and emission *** intake pressure,injection pressure,and EGR rate,employing a turbulent jet,and preheating ammonia improve efficiency and reduce NO_(x)*** ammonia combustion requires the implementation of after-treatment systems such as NH_(3)adsorber and De NO_(x)catalysts to mitigate unburned NH_(3)and NO_(x)*** affects the fuel supply system,combustion,and emission characteristics according to its viscosity and *** injection pressure and blending with volatile fuels enhance spray and *** biodiesel preheating temperatures for the injection pump and injector are crucial for achieving the best pump capacity and spray *** utilizing biodiesel-PODE blends and investigating low-temperature biodiesel combustions,there is potential to improve thermal efficiency and PMNO_(x)***,carbon-neutral fuel adoption should be accelerated to mitigate CO_(2)emissions,highlighting the importance of combustion techniques and emissions reduction strategies.

Experimental investigation of hypersonic flow induced separation over double wedges

Flow separation occurs over the compression comers generated by deflected control surfaces on hypersonic re-entry vehicles and in the inlet of scram jet engines. Configurations like a double wedge and double cone model are useful for studying the separated flow features. Flow fields around concave comers are relatively complicated and produce several classical viscous flow features depending on the combination of the first and second wedge or cone half apex angles. Particularly characteristic phenomena are mainly shock/boundary layer, shock/shock interaction, unsteady shear layers and non-linear shock oscillations. Although most of these basic gas dynamics characteristics are well known, it is not clear what happens at high enthalpy conditions. This paper reports a result of flow fields over a double wedge at a stagnation enthalpy of 4.8 MJ/kg. The experiment was carried out in a free piston shock tunnel at a nominal Mach number of 6.99. Schlieren and double exposure holographic interferometry were applied to visualize the flow field over the double wedge.

Refractive index(RI)is considered to be a fundamental physical and biophysical parameter in biological imaging,as it governs light-matter interactions and light propagation while reflecting cellular *** tomography enables volumetric visualization of RI distribution,allowing biologically relevant analysis of a ***,multiple scattering(MS)and sample-induced aberration(SIA)caused by the inhomogeneity in RI distribution of a thick sample make its visualization *** paper proposes a deep RI tomographic approach to overcome MS and SIA and allow the enhanced reconstruction of thick samples compared to that enabled by conventional linear-model-based RI *** proposed approach consists of partial RI reconstruction using multiple holograms acquired with angular diversity and their backpropagation using the reconstructed partial RI map,which unambiguously reconstructs the next partial *** this operation efficiently reconstructs the entire RI tomogram while suppressing MS and *** visualized a multicellular spheroid of diameter 140μm within minutes of reconstruction,thereby demonstrating the enhanced deep visualization capability and computational efficiency of the proposed method compared to those of conventional RI ***,we quantified the high-RI structures and morphological changes inside multicellular spheroids,indicating that the proposed method can retrieve biologically relevant information from the RI *** from the excellent biological interpretability of RI distributions,the label-free deep visualization capability of the proposed method facilitates a noninvasive understanding of the architecture and time-course morphological changes of thick multicellular specimens.
