AIm:To develop and test an Arabic version of the National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire-25(NEI-VFQ-25).mETHODS:NEI-VFQ-25 was translated into Arabic according to WHO translation guidelines. We enrolled adult consenting patients with bilateral chronic eye diseases who presented to 14 hospitals across Egypt from October to December 2012, and documented their clinical findings. Psychometric properties were then tested using ***:We recruited 379 patients, whose mean age was(54.5±15)y. Of 46.2% were males, 227 had cataract,31 had glaucoma, 23 had retinal detachment, 37 had diabetic retinopathy, and 61 had miscellaneous visual defects. Non-response rate and the floor and ceiling numbers of the Arabic version(ARB-VFQ-25) were calculated. Internal consistency was high in all subscales(except general health), with Cronbach-α ranging from0.702-0.911. Test-retest reliability was high(intraclass correlation coefficient 0.79).CONCLUSION:RB-VFQ-25 isareliableandvalidtool for assessing visual functions of Arabic speaking patients. However, some questions had high non-response rates and should be substituted by available alternatives. Our results support the importance of including self-reported visual functions as part of routine ophthalmologic examination.

This study evaluates the extent of voluntary disclosure in the annual reports of non-financial companies listed at the Amman Stock Exchange （ASE） for the year 2006. The study adopts the disclosure index suggested by Haddad, AI-Shattarat ＆ Nobanee （2009） and evaluates the voluntary disclosure for the Jordanian companies for the year 2006 at three levels： the first provides a description and analysis of the overall voluntary disclosure; the second covers the extent to which each individual item of information is disclosed; the third covers the type of information （e.g., financial information, historical information, management discussion）. The results of the study reveal that there was a considerable variation in the disclosure of the index items and also among the listed companies. On average, a company disclosed about 28.95% of the items applicable to it, and only six out of the 53 companies received disclosure scores greater than 50%. It was also found that 50 items out of 62 items included in the index had a disclosure below 50%, and 10 items had disclosure of less than 10%. With respect to the evaluation of different types of information, the analyses indicated that the category of the background information, the category of financial ratios and the category of management discussions were better disclosed in corporate annual reports than the other types of information.

Concentrated flow erosion processes are distinguished from splash and sheetflow processes in their enhanced ability to mobilize and transport large amounts of soil,water and dissolved *** rangelands,soil,nutrients and water are scarce and only narrow margins of resource losses are tolerable before crossing the sustainability *** these ecosystems,concentrated flow processes are perceived as indicators of degradation and often warrant the implementation of mitigation ***,this negative perception of concentrated flow processes may conflict with the need to improve understanding of the role of these transport vessels in redistributing water,soil and nutrients along the rangeland *** influences the development and erosion of concentrated flowpaths and has been the primary factor used to control and mitigate erosion on *** the ecohydrologic level,vegetation and concentrated flow pathways are engaged in a feedback relationship,the understanding of which might help improve rangeland management and restoration *** this paper,we review published literature on experimental and conceptual research pertaining to concentrated flow processes on rangelands to:(1)present the fundamental science underpinning concentrated flow erosion modeling in these landscapes,(2)discuss the influence of vegetation on these erosion processes,(3)evaluate the contribution of concentrated flow erosion to overall sediment budget and(4)identify knowledge gaps.

Ferula spp. are traditional medicinal plants found in arid land. Large-scale excavation for extracting bioactive compounds from the plants in arid regions of Xinjiang over the last few years has, however, significandy decreased their distributions. Due to the urgent need for preservation of these plant resources, along with the need of searching for alternative source of the useful metabolites, it is important to screen the endophytic microbial resources associated with the plant Ferula sinkiangensis k. m. Shen. In the study, a total of 125 endophytic bacteria belonging to 3 phyla, 13 orders, 23 families, and 29 genera were isolated based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing data. Among the different isolates, three strains isolated from roots were potential novel species of the genera Porphyrobacter, Paracoccus and draycofatopsis. In this study, 79.4% and 57.1% of the total isolates were capable of producing indole-3-acetic acid （IAA） and siderophore, respectively. And, 40.6% of the strains inhibit the growth of fungal pathogen Afternaria alternata, 17.2% and 20.2% strains were positive for antagonism against Vertidllium dahlia 991 and V. dahlia 7, respectively. These results demonstrated that E sinkiangensis is a rich reservoir of endophytic bacterial resources with potential for production of biologically important functions such as plant growth-promoting factors.

The rapid advancement in technology and the increased number of web applications with very short turnaround time caused an increased need for protection from vulnerabilities that grew due to decision makers overlooking the need to be protected from attackers or software developers lacking the skills and experience in writing secure code. Structured Query Language (SQL) Injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), Distributed Denial of service (DDos) and suspicious user behaviour are some of the common types of vulnerabilities in web applications by which the attacker can disclose the web application sensitive information such as credit card numbers and other confidential information. This paper proposes a framework for the detection and prevention of web threats (WTDPF) which is based on preventing the attacker from gaining access to confidential data by studying his behavior during the action of attack and taking preventive measures to reduce the risks of the attack and as well reduce the consequences of such malicious action. The framework consists of phases which begin with the input checking phase, signature based action component phase, alert and response phases. Additionally, the framework has a logging functionality to store and keep track of any action taking place and as well preserving information about the attacker IP address, date and time of the attack, type of the attack, and the mechanism the attacker used. moreover, we provide experimental results for different kinds of attacks, and we illustrate the success of the proposed framework for dealing with and preventing malicious actions.

Strengthening of RC structures with externally bonded FRP （fiber reinforced polymers） has become an important challenge in civil engineering. Epoxy is the main bonding agent used so far, but in the case of a fire, it is subjected to complete loss of his bonding capabilities. mineral based composites strengthening systems consist of FRPs and a cementitious bonding agent which form a repair or strengthening system that is more compatible with the concrete substrata, and roved its efficiency. The current research introduces the use of a special cementitious material ＂Grancrete＂ as a bonding agent. Test results of 32 T-section RC beams strengthened with various FRG （fiber reinforced Grancrete） strengthening systems are presented. The results demonstrated that most of the specimens were likely to fail by debonding of the FRP from the concrete either at the ends or at intermediate flexural cracks. This paper presents an in-depth study aimed at the development of a better understanding of debonding failures in RC beams strengthened with externally bonded FRP systems. Different analytical models, published in the literature for plate end debonding, are reviewed and compared to test results. The results also demonstrated that when using U-wraps, the specimens were likely to fail by FRP sheet rupture.

Background:Syrian juniper is an economically important species and in danger of *** these reasons,the best seedling production methods of the species should be determined and its plantations should be *** aim of the study is to examine the impacts of altitude and different pretreatment combinations of cold and warm stratifications,citric acid,shaking seeds in bottles with crushed glass,and different stimulating agents including Baikal Em1,Biohumus,Polystimulin A6 and k hormones(PS-A6 and PS-k)on seed germination of Syrian *** conduct the study,the cones of the Syrian junipers were collected from three different altitudes(1000,1200,and 1400 m a.s.l.)within the boundaries of Forest management Directorate of Bozyazı,mersin in *** seeds were subjected to three replicates per one treatment(altitude in interaction with pretreatment).There were 100 seeds per ***:Two-way ANOVA revealed significant effects of altitude,pretreatment,and their interaction on seedling emergence of Syrian *** from higher altitudes had higher germination rates in all *** highest percent emergence(85%)was recorded in the combination consisting of shaking with crushed glass,both cold and warm stratification,and successive application of stimulators PS-A6 and *** the treatments with most germinating seeds encompassed shaking in crushed glass or soaking in citric acid,both warm and cold stratifications,and application of stimulating ***:The use of seeds from higher altitudes should be considered for seedling production of Syrian juniper due to their higher germination *** altitudinal differences,specific pretreatments can rise germination potential more than twofold.

This paper proposes a single integrated traffic enforcement system that is able to recognize and report various traffic violations. It consists of a Wi-Fi infrastructure that enables communication between moving vehicles and a central node. Unlike existing solutions, which address single violations, the proposed model encompasses several issues like exceeding speed limits, entering a no entry street, car theft, congestion and tolling. OPNET simulations were run to test the Wi-Fi model and define its different characteristics and limitations. A proof-of-concept case was modeled, and the proposed architecture succeeded in meeting all design requirements.

Background:Warfarin is widely regarded as the main anticoagulant in lowering the risk of *** study used indicators to compare pharmacist-managed anticoagulation services,using a well-prepared protocol,with physician-managed anticoagulation services・methods:A retrospective prospective pilot study was conducted to compare patient outcomes before and after transitioning patients to phannacist-managed anticoagulation services,comparing the proportion of those with therapeutic international normalized ratio(INk),subtherapeutic INk,and supratherapeutic INR,as well as their bleeding occurrences as indicators of assuring quality ***:A significant improvement in anticoagulation management was noted in the transition to pharmacist-managed anticoagulation *** proportion of those with subtherapeutic INR decreased from 61.8%to 11.8%(pm 20.6%to 2.9%(pm 17.6%to 85.3%(pm 11.8%to 0.0%,without significant difference in warfarin doses(median from 4 before the transition to 5 after);in addition,the time to reach therapeutic INR decreased from 12-24 weeks to 2-8 weeks after transitioning to pharmacist-managed anticoagulation ***:Pharmacist-managed anticoagulation services are considered safer and more effective than physician-managed anticoagulation services alone in terms of patientsJ adherence and satisfaction,which provide an excellent opportunity for quality assurance care.
