Impact of Internet Advertisement and Its Features on E-Commerce Retail Sales: Evidence from Europe

The stimulus to carry out this research is to investigate the relationship between internet advertisement and its features on the total E-commerce sales of the top five countries of Europe. The units of analysis are the individuals of UK, France, Italy, Germany and Netherland. Secondary data are collected from the reports of [1] (ADEX, 2010) and [2] (Eurostats, 2011). To empirically determine the relationship between independent variable and dependent variable in the European context, the study uses various statistical techniques, including OLS regression and correlation analysis techniques. The empirical findings indicate that the Internet advertisement features of search advertisement and classified advertisement have positive significant relationship with the E-commerce sales in Europe. The empirical findings indicate negative significant relationship of display advertisement with the E-commerce sales in Europe. However, this variable is also justified with the help of literature. Findings also demonstrate that search advertisement has strong positive relationship and it generates positive influence for the E-commerce sales as compared to the classified advertisement and display advertisement. Firms and marketers which are investing in online advertisement will find these results useful as they can get better sales and can use these features of online advertisement in order to maximize the sales of their products and services.

Hybrid Data Mining Models for Predicting Customer Churn

The term “customer churn” is used in the industry of information and communication technology (ICT) to indicate those customers who are about to leave for a new competitor, or end their subscription. Predicting this behavior is very important for real life market and competition, and it is essential to manage it. In this paper, three hybrid models are investigated to develop an accurate and efficient churn prediction model. The three models are based on two phases;the clustering phase and the prediction phase. In the first phase, customer data is filtered. The second phase predicts the customer behavior. The first model investigates the k-means algorithm for data filtering, and Multilayer Perceptron Artificial Neural Networks (MLP-ANN) for prediction. The second model uses hierarchical clustering with MLP-ANN. The third one uses self organizing maps (SOM) with MLP-ANN. The three models are developed based on real data then the accuracy and churn rate values are calculated and compared. The comparison with the other models shows that the three hybrid models outperformed single common models.

Towards Developing Successful E-Government Websites

Quality is a key factor to ensuring success of e-government websites. Therefore, a definition for high-quality e-government website is required, as well as, an e-government system’s quality evaluation methodology. This paper identifies quality attributes that are required to assess the quality of an e-government website, which should be considered by developers during the development of e-government applications. The primary goals are identifying, qualifying, categorizing, and ranking these factors, and then defining the interrelations among these quality factors.

Factors Affecting the Intention of Adopting Cloud Computing in Jordanian Hospitals

The purpose of this study is to examine the different factors that are expected to influence the intention of hospitals to adopt cloud computing in Jordan. This study is conducted using quatititative methodology. 223 questionnaires were distributed to the IT departments of different hospitals to evaluate their ability and willingness to adopt cloud computing. The data were tested using multiple regression in order to determine whether Technology, Organizational, and Environmental factors (TOE) played a role in hospitals’ decision to consider cloud computing as a beneficial investment. The findings of this study showed that all the factors had a significant positive impact on the intention of hospitals to adopt cloud computing, with the Technological factor having the most impact on the decision made.

Developments in service oriented architecture (SOA) have taken us near to the once fictional dream of forming and running an online business, such commercial activity in which most or all of its commercial roles are outsourced to online services. The novel concept of cloud computing gives a understanding of SOA in which Information Technology assets are provided as services that are extra flexible, inexpensive and striking to commercial activities. In this paper, we concisely study developments in concept of cloud computing, and debate the advantages of using cloud services for commercial activities and trade-offs that they have to consider. Further we presented a layered architecture for online business, and then we presented a conceptual architecture for complete online business working atmosphere. Moreover, we discuss the prospects and research experiments that are ahead of us in realizing the technical components of this conceptual architecture. We conclude by giving the outlook and impact of cloud services on both large and small businesses.

Cloud computing is a set of Information Technology services offered to users over the web on a rented base. Such services enable the organizations to scale-up or scale-down their in-house foundations. Generally, cloud services are provided by a third-party supplier who possesses the arrangement. Cloud computing has many advantages such as flexibility, efficiency, scalability, integration, and capital reduction. Moreover, it provides an advanced virtual space for organizations to deploy their applications or run their operations. With disregard to the possible benefits of cloud computing services, the organizations are reluctant to invest in cloud computing mainly due to security concerns. Security is one of the main challenges that hinder the growth of cloud computing. At the same time, service providers strive to reduce the risks over the clouds and increase their reliability in order to build mutual trust between them and the cloud customers. Various security issues and challenges are discussed in this research, and possible opportunities are stated.
