The segmentation process requires separating the image region into sub-regions of similar *** sub-region has a group of pixels having the same characteristics,such as texture or *** paper suggests an efficient hybrid segmentation approach for different medical image modalities based on particle swarm optimization(PSO)and improved fast fuzzy C-means clustering(IFFCM)*** extensive comparative study on different medical images is presented between the proposed approach and other different previous segmentation *** existing medical image segmentation techniques incorporate clustering,thresholding,graph-based,edge-based,active contour,region-based,and watershed *** paper extensively analyzes and summarizes the comparative investigation of these ***,a prediction of the improvement involves the combination of these techniques is *** obtained results demonstrate that the proposed hybrid medical image segmentation approach provides superior outcomes in terms of the examined evaluation metrics compared to the preceding segmentation techniques.

In the literature,numerous techniques have been employed to decrease noise in medical image modalities,including X-Ray(XR),Ultrasonic(Us),Computed Tomography(CT),Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI),and Positron Emission Tomography(PET).These techniques are organized into two main classes:the Multiple Image(MI)and the Single Image(SI)*** the MI techniques,images usually obtained for the same area scanned from different points of view are used.A single image is used in the entire procedure in the SI *** denoising techniques can be carried out both in a transform or spatial *** paper is concerned with single-image noise reduction techniques because we deal with single medical *** most well-known spatial domain noise reduction techniques,including Gaussian filter,Kuan filter,Frost filter,Lee filter,Gabor filter,Median filter,Homomorphic filter,Speckle reducing anisotropic diffusion(SRAD),Nonlocal-Means(NL-Means),and Total Variation(TV),are ***,the transform domain noise reduction techniques,including wavelet-based and Curvelet-based techniques,and some hybridization techniques are ***,a deep(Convolutional Neural Network)CNN-based denoising model is proposed to eliminate Gaussian and Speckle noises in different medical image *** model utilizes the Batch Normalization(BN)and the RelU as a basic *** a result,it attained a considerable improvement over the traditional *** previously mentioned techniques are evaluated and compared by calculating qualitative visual inspection and quantitative parameters like Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio(PSNR),Correlation Coefficient(Cr),and system complexity to determine the optimum denoising algorithm to be applied *** on the quality metrics,it is demonstrated that the proposed deep CNN-based denoising model is efficient and has superior denoising performance over the traditionaldenoising techniques.

Studies on the Immunomodulatory Effects of Lactoferrin in Rats Infected with E. coli

Eighty male albino rats of Westar strain (350 ± 10 g), 10 to 12 weeks old were divided into four groups. The groups treated are as following. The first control group (Gp. I) was given intraperitoneally in normal saline (1 mL). The second group (Gp. II) was orally infected with 3 × 1012 CFU of E. coli /Kg. BW. The third group (Gp. III) was infected with E. coli and treated with (0.5%) lactoferrin (LF) 72 hours before E. coli infection in filtered tap water for the duration of the experiment (21 days). The fourth group (Gp. IV) was administrated with LF only (0.5%) in drinking water. Two separate blood samples were collected from heart puncture at the end of 1st, and 3rd week post-treatment for immunological studies. The Leukogram in E. coli treated group was insignificant compared with the control group while lymphocytosis was clear compared with the infected group. Missing Data Imputation: A Comprehensive Review

Missing data presents a significant challenge in statistical analysis and machine learning, often resulting in biased outcomes and diminished efficiency. This comprehensive review investigates various imputation techniques, categorizing them into three primary approaches: deterministic methods, probabilistic models, and machine learning algorithms. Traditional techniques, including mean or mode imputation, regression imputation, and last observation carried forward, are evaluated alongside more contemporary methods such as multiple imputation, expectation-maximization, and deep learning strategies. The strengths and limitations of each approach are outlined. Key considerations for selecting appropriate methods, based on data characteristics and research objectives, are discussed. The importance of evaluating imputation’s impact on subsequent analyses is emphasized. This synthesis of recent advancements and best practices provides researchers with a robust framework for effectively handling missing data, thereby improving the reliability of empirical findings across diverse disciplines.

A Novel Spectrophotometric Method for Determination of Five 1,4-Dihydropyridine Drugs in Their Tablets and Capsules Using Vanillin Reagent

A selective and new spectrophotometric method is described for determination of five 1,4 dihydropyridine drugs (1,4- DHP);namely nifedipine (NIF), nicardipine (NIC), nimodipine (NIM), felodipine (Fel) and amlodipine (AML). The method is based on a coupling reaction between the cited drugs and vanillin reagent in acidic condition. Under optimized conditions, the red coloured products were measured at 500 nm for NIF, NIC, NIM and Fel or at 479 nm for AML. Molar absorptivities were ranged from 0.575 × 104 - 1.065 × 104 l·mol-1·cm-1, Beer’s law was obeyed at 5 - 70 μg/mL concentration range and the limit of detection was ranged from 0.150 - 1.500 μg/mL. The proposed method was successfully extended to pharmaceutical preparations tablets and capsules and comparison by Student’s t-test and variance ratio F-test showed no significant difference.

Development and Validation of HPLC Method for Simultaneous Determination of Amlodipine, Valsartan, Hydrochlorothiazide in Dosage Form and Spiked Human Plasma

A simple, sensitive, and specific method was developed for simultaneous determination of Amlodipine besylate (AML), Valsartan (Vals) and Hydrochlorothiazide (HCT) by high performance liquid chromatography without previous separation. Satisfactory resolution was achieved using a RP-C18 chromatographic column, Phenomenex Kinetex (150 mm × 4.6 mm i.d) and a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile-phosphate buffer (0.05 M) with pH 2.8 in the proportion of (40/60, v/v) at a flow rate 0.8 mL/min and the wavelength detection was 227 nm. The retention time for HCT, AML and VAls was 2.26, 3.16 and 11.19 min;respectively. The described method was linear over a range of 4-28 μg /ml, 5-40 μg /ml and 1-12 μg /ml for AML, Vals and HCT;respectively. The mean percent recoveries were 99.94%, 99.96% and 99.78% for AML, Vals and HCT;respectively. F-test and t-test at 95%con?dence level were used to check the intermediate precision data obtained under different experimental setups. The method could be used for analysis of combined dose tablet formulation containing AML, Vals, HCT as well as spiked human plasma.
