Geo-Coordinated Parallel Coordinates (GCPC): Field trial studies of environmental data analysis

The large number of environmental problems faced by society in recent years has driven researchers to collect and study massive amounts of data in order to understand the complex relations that exist between people and the environment in which we *** datasets are often high dimensional and heterogeneous in nature,with complex geospatial *** such data can be challenging,especially when there is a need to maintain spatial awareness as the non-spatial attributes are ***-Coordinated Parallel Coordinates(GCPC)is a geovisual analytics approach designed to support exploration and analysis within complex geospatial environmental *** coordinates are tightly coupled with a geospatial representation and an investigative scatterplot,all of which can be used to show,reorganize,filter,and highlight the high dimensional,heterogeneous,and geospatial aspects of the *** sets of field trials were conducted with expert data analysts to validate the real-world benefits of the approach for studying environmental *** results of these evaluations were positive,providing real-world evidence and new insights regarding the value of using GCPC to explore among environmental datasets when there is a need to remain aware of the geospatial aspects of the data as the non-spatial elements are studied.

Visualizing Association Rules Using Linked Matrix,Graph, and Detail Views

Although association rule mining is an important pattern recognition and data analysis technique, extracting and finding significant rules from a large collection has always been challenging. The ability of information visualization to enable users to gain an understanding of high dimensional and large-scale data can play a major role in the exploration, identification, and interpretation of association rules. In this paper, we propose a method that provides multiple views of the association rules, linked together through a filtering mechanism. A visual inspection of the entire association rule set is enabled within a matrix view. Items of interest can be selected, resulting in their corresponding association rules being shown in a graph view. At any time, individual rules can be selected in either view, resulting in their information being shown in the detail view. The fundamental premise in this work is that by providing such a visual and interactive representation of the association rules, users will be able to find important rules quickly and easily, even as the number of rules that must be inspected becomes large. A user evaluation was conducted which validates this premise.

Sensory regeneration in dorsal root avulsion

Brachial as well as lumbosacral plexus avulsion injuries are usually caused by high kinetic traumas,such as car-pedestrian,car and motorcycle accidents or falls from great *** forces affecting the head and shoulders or extremities pull the spinal nerve sleeves away from the spinal cord and rupture the postganglionic spinal root from the *** so called central avulsion injuries,the spinal root is avulsed at the peripheral nervous system （CNS interface between the central and and PNS）. This results not only in the disconnection of the root from the cord but also in a longitudi- nal spinal cord injury. The complexity of the injury leads to degen- eration of the spinal root and a marked inflammatory response of the spinal cord followed by the formation of a glial scar （Kachra- manoglou et al., 2011）.

Automatic Stabilization of an Adaptive Feedback Control for Noise Cancelling In-ear Headphones

Headphones with an integrated active noise cancellation system have been increasingly introduced to the consumer market in recent years. When exposing the human ear to active noise sources in this striking distance, the ensuring of a safe sound pressure level is vital. In feedback systems, this is coupled with the stability of the closed control loop; stable controller design is thus essential. However, changes in the control path during run-time can cause the stable control system to become unstable, resulting in an overdrive of the speakers in the headphones. This paper proposes a method, which enables the real-time analysis of the current system state and if necessary stabilizes the closed loop while maintaining the active noise reduction. This is achieved by estimating and evaluating the open loop behavior with an adaptive filter and subsequently limiting the controller gain in respect to the stability margin.
