Analysing the Potential Impact of.Climate Change on the Hydrological Regime of.the Upper Benue River Basin (North Cameroon)

In this study, we analyse the climate variability in the Upper Benue basin and assess its potential impact on the hydrology regime under two dif.erent greenhouse gas emission scenarios. The hydrological regime of.the basin is more vulnerable to climate variability, especially precipitation and temperature. Observed hydroclimatic data (1950-2015) was analysed using a statistical approach. The potential impact of.f.ture climate change on the hydrological regime is quantif.ed using the GR2m model and two climate models: hadGEm2-ES and mIROC5 f.om CmIP5 under RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5 greenhouse gas emission scenarios. The main result shows that precipitation varies signif.cantly according to the geographical location and time in the Upper Benue basin. The trend analysis of.climatic parameters shows a decrease in annual average precipitation across the study area at a rate of.-0.568 mm/year which represents about 37 mm/year over the time 1950-2015 compared to the 1961-1990 ref.rence period. An increase of.0.7°C in mean temperature and 14% of.PET are also observed according to the same ref.rence period. The two climate models predict a warming of.the basin of.about 2°C f.r both RCP 4.5 and 8.5 scenarios and an increase in precipitation between 1% and 10% between 2015 and 2100. Similarly, the average annual f.ow is projected to increase by about +2% to +10% in the f.ture f.r both RCP 4.5 and 8.5 scenarios between 2015 and 2100. Theref.re, it is primordial to develop adaptation and mitigation measures to manage ef.iciently the availability of.water resources.

The identif.cation of.jets originating f.om quarks and gluons,of.en ref.rred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses perf.rmed at the Large hadron Collider,as Standard model measurements and searches f.r new particles decaying to quarks of.en rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of.the ef.iciencies of.quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of.140 f.^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high perf.rmances in rejecting jets f.om gluon over jets f.om quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of.inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon f.action in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples def.ned by the jet *** in tagging ef.iciency between data and simulation are provided f.r jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and f.r multiple tagger working points.

Vibrational characteristics of.piping system in air conditioning outdoor unit

The modal analysis of.piping system in air conditioner (AC) outdoor unit is essential to investigate the vibration properties of.the system. In view of.the growing signif.cance of.numerical f.nite element (f.) model f.r vibration behaviour prediction, the AC piping elastic end support characterization has been explored. The axial and radial stif.ness variables (ka, kr1, kr2) of.the compressor-piping mounting are obtained and represented by dynamic stif.ness of.compressor grommet. They are obtained f.om dynamic load def.ection test based on compressor operating condition such as excitation f.equency and amplitude. The unknown stif.ness variables of.the other tube end (chassis-piping mounting) are determined by parameter f.ne tuning. An experimental modal analysis using impact hammer test has also been employed to determine the vibration properties such as natural f.equencies, mode shapes and damping ratio of.the piping structures. The modal parameters acquisition using SCADAS mobile acquisition system and LmS Impact Testing sof.ware is compared with the corresponding simulated modal properties using Abaqus. most of.the simulated natural f.equencies achieve good correlation with the measured f.equencies and it is reasonably a good prediction model to predict vibration behaviour of.AC piping structures.

AIm： To investigate the single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） in genes involved in bacterial recognition and the susceptibility to pouchitis or pouchitis severity. mETHODS： Analyses of.CD14 -260C〉T, CARD15/ NOD2 3020insC, Toll-like receptor （TLR）4 ＋896A〉G, TLR9 -1237T〉C, TLR9＋2848G〉A, and IRAKm ＋ 22148G〉A SNPs were perf.rmed in 157 ileal-pouch anal anastomosis （IPAA） patients （79 patients who did not develop pouchitis, 43 inf.equent pouchitis patients, 35 chronic relapsing pouchitis patients） and 224 Italian Caucasian healthy controls. RESULTS： No signif.cant dif.erences were f.und in SNP f.equencies between controls and IPAA patients. However, a signif.cant dif.erence in carriership f.equency of.the TLRg-1237C allele was f.und between the inf.equent pouchitis and chronic relapsing pouchitis groups [P = 0.028, odd＇s ratio （OR） = 3.2, 95%CI = 1.2-8.6]. This allele uniquely represented a 4-locus TLR9 haplotype comprising both studied TLR9 SNPs in Caucasians. Carrier trait analysis revealed an enhanced combined carriership of.the alleles TLR9 -1237C and CD14 -260T in the chronic relapsing pouchitis and inf.equent pouchitis group （P = 0.018, OR = 4.1, 95%CI = 1.4 -12.3）. There is no evidence that the SNPs predispose to the need f.r IPAA surgery. The signif.cant increase of.the combined carriershoip of.the CD14-260T and TLR9-1237C alleles in the chronic relapsing pouchitis group suggests that these markers identif. a subgroup of.IPAA patients with a rish of.developing chronic or ref.actory pouchitis.

We present a theoretical study on the ef.ects of.intense laser f.eld(ILf.and static electric f.eld on the linear and nonlinear optical properties of.a cylindrical quantum dot with Rosen-morse axial potential under the f.amework of.ef.ective mass and parabolic band *** study also takes into account the ef.ects of.the structure parameters(η,V1,and R).The analytical expressions of.the linear,third-order nonlinear and total optical absorption coef.icients(TOACs)and the relative ref.active index changes(RRICs)are obtained by using the compact-densitymatrix *** results of.numerical calculations show that the resonant peak position of.the TOACs and RRICs shif.s towards lower energies and the magnitude of.the peak increases with the ef.ect of.the static electric f.eld and *** addition,it is observed that while the resonant energies of.the TOACs and RRICs of.system shif. towards the higher(lower)energies with the enhancement of.,V1,they decrease with the augmentation of.***,the f.ndings of.this study show that the optical properties of.the structure can be adjusted by changing the magnitude of.structure parameters and applied external f.elds.

There has been a growing interest in disordered optical media in recent years due to their potential applications in solar collectors, random lasers, light conf.nement, and other advanced photonic f.nctions. This paper studies the transport of.light f.r dif.erent incidence angles in a strongly disordered optical medium composed of.core-shell TiO_2@Silica nanoparticles suspended in an ethanol solution. A decrease of.optical conductance and an increase of.absorption near the input border are reported when the incidence angle increases. The specular ref.ection, measured f.r the photons that enter the sample, is lower than the ef.ective internal ref.ection undergone by the coherently backscattered photons in the exact opposite direction, indicating a nonreciprocal propagation of.*** study represents a novel approach in order to understand the complex physics involved at the phase transition to localization.

Several epidemiological studies have clearly identif.ed diabetes mellitus(Dm)as a major risk f.ctor f.r cognitive dysf.nction,and it is going to be a major public health issue in the coming years because of.the alarming rise in diabetes prevalence across the *** and neural tissues predominantly depend on glucose as energy substrate and hence,any alterations in carbohydrate metabolism can directly impact on cerebral f.nctional output including cognition,executive capacity,and *** af.ects neuronal f.nction and mental capacity in several ways,some of.which include hypoperf.sion of.the brain tissues f.om cerebrovascular disease,diabetes-related alterations of.glucose transporters causing abnormalities in neuronal glucose uptake and metabolism,local hyper-and hypometabolism of.brain areas f.om insulin resistance,and recurrent hypoglycemic episodes inherent to pharmacotherapy of.diabetes resulting in neuronal *** decline can f.rther worsen diabetes care as Dm is a disease largely self.managed by ***,it is crucial to understand the pathobiology of.cognitive dysf.nction in relation to Dm and its management f.r optimal long-term care plan f.r patients.A thorough appraisal of.normal metabolic characteristics of.the brain,how alterations in neural metabolism af.ects cognition,the diagnostic algorithm f.r patients with diabetes and dementia,and the management and prognosis of.patients when they have this dangerous combination of.illnesses is imperative in this *** evidence-based narrative with the backup of.latest clinical trial reviews elaborates the current understanding on diabetes and cognitive f.nction to empower physicians to manage their patients in day-to-day clinical practice.
