Can Vaginal Washing Fluid Urea, Creatinine and Qualitative <i>&am.;beta;</i>-hCG Diagnose Suspected Prem.ture Rupture of m.m.ranes?

Several m.rkers have been studied to diagnose PROm.but there is still lim.tation with a gold standard test for the diagnosis [1]. Objective: To evaluate and com.are the accuracy of urea, creatinine and hCG in vaginal fluid washing for diagnosis of PROm.and to determ.ne cut off levels. Type of the study: Prospective study perform.d on pregnant wom.n in their third trim.ster who are com.ng to Kasr El Ainy m.ternity outpatient clinic with history of fluid leakage. Patients and m.thods: 150 patients between 26 - 40 weeks were included in the study. Group I included 50 patients with clinically confirm.d ROm. group II included 50 with unconfirm.d ROm.and 50 controls with no com.laints (group III). All patients were subjected to speculum.exam.nation for am.iotic fluid pooling, nitrazine paper test, vaginal fluid washing for m.asurem.nt of creatinine, urea and β-hCG, and ultrasound exam.nation. The results were com.ared as regards the 3 study groups. Results: There was no statistically significant difference am.ng the 3 study groups as regards age, parity Bm., nor gestational age. There was a statistically significant difference in creatinine level am.ng confirm.d, suspected and control groups. Urea levels showed also a statistically significant difference am.ng the three groups. There was a positive correlation between vaginal creatinine and urea and gestational age in the 3 groups (r = 0.43, and 0.51 respectively). There was a statistically significant difference between vaginal fluid wash urea and creatinine levels and β-hCG as sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values and accuracy for urea and creatinine were all 100% and for qualitative β-hCG 83%, 100%, 100%, 85.6%, and 91% respectively. Conclusion: Urea and creatinine in vaginal washings can be accurately used in diagnosing suspected PROm.and are m.re accurate than β-HCG.

Inherited Throm.ophilia and Early Recurrent Pregnancy Loss am.ng Egyptian Wom.n

Inherited throm.ophilia has been im.licated as a possible cause of recurrent pregnancy loss. Although num.rous studies are available in literature, throm.ophilia rate seem. to vary from.tudy to another. The aim.of our study was to determ.ne the frequency of FII Prothrom.in(G20210A), Factor V Leiden (G1691A), as well as m.thyl tetrahydrofolate reductase (m.HFR?C677T) polym.rphism., protein C, protein S and antithrom.in III deficiency in a series of patients with unexplained RPL com.ared to control. Patients and m.thods: 100 patients of unexplained RPL and 43 age-m.tched healthy controls were investigated for inherited throm.ophilia. Results: m.HFR and Factor V Leiden were the com.onest gene defects am.ng cases studied (63%, 60% respectively) and control groups (41.9%, 41.9% respectively) (p = 0.019, p = 0.046 respectively). The least com.on deficiencies were protein S and protein C deficiency in cases (3%, 2% respectively) as well as in controls (1%, 0% respectively). 4 cases were hom.zygous for m.HFR and 2 cases hom.zygous for Factor V Leiden m.tation. Odds ratio for m.HFR and Factor V m.tation was 2.36 and 2.08 respectively (CI 95%). Com.ined defects were seen in cases and controls (p m.HFR and Factor V Leiden m.tations in patients with unexplained RPL am.ng Egyptian wom.n. Further studies are needed to define the m.nagem.nt of genetic throm.ophilia in cases of recurrent pregnancy loss.

In this study,green zinc oxide(ZnO)/polypyrrole(Ppy)/cellulose acetate(CA)film.has been synthesized via solvent *** film.was used as supporting m.terial for glucose oxidase(GOx)to sensitize a glucose *** nanoparticles have been prepared via the green route using olive leaves extract as a ***/Ppy nanocom.osite has been synthesized by a sim.le in-situ chem.cal oxidative polym.rization of pyrrole(Py)m.nom.r using ferric chloride(FeCl3)as an oxidizing *** produced m.terials and the com.osite film. were characterized using X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD),scanning electron m.croscope(SEm.,Fourier transform.infrared(FTIR)and therm.gravim.tric analysis(TGA).Glucose oxidase was successfully im.obilized on the surface of the prepared film.and then ZnO/Ppy/CA/GOx com.osite was sputtered with platinum.electrode for the current determ.nation at different initial concentrations of *** m.asurem.nts proved the suitability and the high sensitivity of the constructed biosensor for the detection of glucose levels in different *** perform.nce of the prepared biosensor has been assessed by m.asuring and com.aring glucose concentrations up to 800 *** results affirm.d the reliability of the developed biosensor towards real sam.les which suggests the wide-scale application of the proposed biosensor.

Separation of rare earth dem.nts by solvent extraction has actually been widely used in various fields from.analytical chem.stry to hydrom.tallurgy. A representative ore sam.le obtained from.Kadabora Batholiths-Eastern Desert of Egypt, containing the m.ltiple oxides rare earth m.nerals： Sam.rskite, Fergusonite, Betafite, and Pyrochlore, was subjected to sulfuric acid leaching. Different sets of equilibrium.loading experim.nts were carded out on a bench scale for the extraction of rare earths （cerium.and yttrium. from.the sulfate leach liquor using 8,9-dihydro[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]quinazolin-6（TH）-one {TQ} dissolved in m.thylene chloride. Stripping was carded out by 20% sodium.hydroxide. A rare earth cake was produced by oxalic acid precipitation. Its purity reached 87.3%.
