High mountain Asia(HmA),recognized as a third pole,needs regular and intense studies as it is susceptible to climate *** accurate and high-resolution Digital Elevation model(DEm)for this region enables us to analyze it in a 3D environment and understand its intricate role as the Water Tower of *** science teams of NASA realized an 8-m DEm using satellite stereo imagery for HmA,termed HmA 8-m *** this research,we assessed the vertical accuracy of HmA 8-m DEm using reference elevations from ICESat-2 geolocated photons at three test sites of varied topography and land *** were made from statistical quantifiers and elevation *** the world’s highest mountain,mount Everest,and its surroundings,Root mean Squared Error(RmSE)and mean Absolute Error(mAE)resulted in 1.94 m and 1.66 m,respectively;however,a uniform positive bias observed in the elevation profiles indicates the seasonal snow cover change will dent the accurate estimation of the elevation in this sort of test *** second test site containing gentle slopes with forest patches has exhibited the Digital Surface model(DSm)features with RmSE and mAE of 0.58 m and 0.52 m,*** third test site,situated in the Zanda County of the Qinghai-Tibet,is a relatively flat terrain bed,mostly bare earth with sudden river cuts,and has minimal errors with RmSE and mAE of 0.32 m and 0.29 m,respectively,and with a negligible ***,in one more test site,the feasibility of detecting the glacial lakes was tested,which resulted in exhibiting a flat surface over the surface of the lakes,indicating the potential of HmA 8-m DEm for deriving the hydrological *** results accrued in this investigation confirm that the HmA 8-m DEm has the best vertical accuracy and should be of high use for analyzing natural hazards and monitoring glacier surfaces.

The developmental parameters, namely developmental periods, larval survival, adult emergence, growth index, developmental rate and sex ratio in terms of female proportion in a population of two aphidophagous ladybirds, namely, Coelophora biplagiata （Swartz） and micraspis discolor （Fabricius） were investigated, using three aphid species as prey. The immature stages of C. biplagiata were significantly affected by prey quality and developed fastest when fed on Aphis craccivora followed by Aphis gossypii and Rhopalosiphum maidis. The order of prey suitability in terms of developmental rate of immature stages of m. discolor was just reversed. The adult females were heavier than males, while pre-pupae were heavier than pupae in both ladybirds. The sex ratio of adult emergence, though female-biased in both ladybird species, was not significantly affected by prey quality.

In silico genome mining provides easy access to secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters(BGCs)encoding the biosynthesis of many bioactive compounds,which are the basis for many important drugs used in human ***,the association between BGCs and other functions encoded in the genomes of producers have remained ***,we present a systems biology workflow that integrates genome mining with a detailed pangenome analysis for detecting genes associated with a particular *** analyzed 3,889 enterobacterial genomes and found 13,266 BGCs,represented by 252 distinct BGC families and 347 additional singletons.A pangenome analysis revealed 88 genes putatively associated with a specific BGC coding for the colon cancer-related colibactin that code for diverse metabolic and regulatory *** presented workflow opens up the possibility to discover novel secondary metabolites,better understand their physiological roles,and provides a guide to identify and analyze BGC associated gene sets.

Scanning electron microscopy was done to describe the morphology of antennaof adult male and fe- male ladybeetle, Coccinella septempunctata . Eleven-segmented, scaly antennawas 950μm in male and 980 μm in female. Electron micrographs reveal the occurrence of eight typesof sensillae, viz. chaetica ( Ch) , trichoidea (Tr) , basiconica (Ba) , campaniformia (Ca) ,ampucellaceous (Am) , scolopalia (Sc) , placoidea (pI) and hook shaped sensilla on the antennae ofmale and female ladybeetles. Ch had long external-process, with base surrounded by membranous socketand the length was 60 and 70 μm in male and female ladybeetle, respectively. Sensillae Tr weredistally curved and inserted into depression, 9.0 and 15 μm long in male and female ladybeetle,respectively. Sensillae Ba were cuticular peg-like and 0.57 and 0.70 μm long on the male and femaleantennae. Sensillae Ca were small dome-like and had diameter of 3.0μm in both the sexes. SensillaeAm were pit-like in appearance and the diameter of the pit was 1.2 and 1.5 in male and femaleladybeetle, respectively. Sensillae pI were elliptical sunken plates like in both the *** Sc were broad at their apex and pointed at their tip, 2.5μm. A single hook-shapedsensilla of 21.0 μm in length was present on male antenna only. Ch, Ca, Am, and pI were almostsimilar in numbers in both the sexes. Sensillae Tr were more numerous on the male antenna and Bawere more numerous on the female antenna.

Accelerated Carbonation Assessment of High-Volume Fly Ash Concrete

The issue of concrete carbonation has gained importance in recent years due to the increase use in supplementary cementing materials (SCms) in concrete mixtures. While there is general agreement that concrete carbonation progresses at maximum at a relative humidity of about 60%, the rate may differ in the case of cements blended with SCms, especially with high-volume fly ash replacements. In this study, the effect of high-volume fly ash concrete exposed to low ambient relative humidity (RH) conditions (57%) and accelerated carbonation (4% CO2) is investigated. Twenty-three concrete mixtures were produced varying in cementitious contents (310, 340, 370, and 400 kg/m3), water-to-cementitious materials ratio (0.45 and 0.50), and fly ash content (0%, 15%, 30%, and 50%) using a low and high-calcium fly ash. The specimens were allowed 1 and 7 days of moist curing and monitored for their carbonation rate and depth through phenolphthalein measurements up to 105 days of exposure. The accelerated carbonation test results indicated that increasing the addition of fly ash also led to increasing the depth of carbonation. mixtures incorporating high-calcium fly ash were also observed to be more resistant against carbonation than low-calcium fly ash due to the higher calcium oxide (CaO) content. However, mixtures incorporating high-volume additions (50%) specimens were fully carbonated regardless of the type of fly ash used. It was evident that the increase in the duration of moist curing from 1 day to 7 days had a positive effect, reducing the carbonation depth for both plain and blended fly ash concrete mixes, however, this effect was minimal in high-volume fly ash mixtures. The results demonstrated that the water-to-cementitious ratio (W/Cm) had a more dramatic impact on carbonation resistance than the curing age for mixtures incorporating 30% or less fly ash replacement, whereas those mixtures incorporating 50% showed minor differences regardless of curing age or W/Cm. Biofiltration is emerging as a promising cost effective technique for the Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) removal from industrial waste gases. In the present investigation a comparative modeling study has been carried out using Radial Basis Function Neural Network (RBFN) and Response Surface methodology (RSm) to predict and optimize the performance of a biofilter system treating toluene (a model VOC). Experimental biofilter system performance data collected over a time period by daily measurement of inlet VOC concentration, retention time, pH, temperature and packing moisture content was used to develop the mathematical model. These independent variables acted as the inputs to the mathematical model developed using RSm and RBFN, while the VOC removal efficiency was the biofilter system performance parameter to be predicted. The data set was divided into two parts: 60% of data was used for training phase and remaining 40% of data was used for the testing phase. The average % error for RSm and RBFN were 7.76% and 3.03%, and R2 value obtained were 0.8826 and 0.9755 respectively. The results indicated the superiority of RBFN in the prediction capability due to its ability to approximate higher degree of nonlinearity between the input and output variables. The optimization of biofilter parameters was also done using RSm to optimize the biofilter performance. RSm being structured in nature enabled the study of interaction effect between the independent variables on biofilter performance.
