The objective of this study was to examine the essential oil ofPimpinella tunceliana Yild. g.owing.wild in the Eastern part of Turkey for the first time. Obtained results were discussed with the g.nus patterns and natural products. The essential oil of P. tunceliana was analyzed by head space-solid phase microextraction （HS-SPME）/g.s chromatog.aphy-mass spectrometry （g.-MS） technique, and 50 compounds were identified, representing.96.3% of the oil. The main constituents of P. tunceliana were β-caryophyllene （13.9%）, β-bisabolene （10.4%）, anethole （9.3%）, sabinene （7.5%）, limonene （6.9%） and g.rmacrene D （6.8%）. In this study, essential oil contents of P. tunceliana that is a new and endemic species was studied for the first time, and important results were presented in respect to the composition of the oil of this new species of Pimpinella.

Introduction: Functional integ.ity of the hypothalamic pituitary axis is disrupted during.severe infection or stress. The observed blunted response to corticotropin was interpreted as impaired secretory reserve of the adrenal g.ands and was termed as relative adrenocortical insufficiency. Aim of the work: To study the incidence of adrenal insufficiency in patients developed cardiog.nic shock complicating.ST seg.ent elevation myocardial infarction. Materials and methods: Prospective cohort study was done for 90 patients admitted to Alg.laa Hospital for whom basal cortisol and ACTH level were measured immediately before a standard-dose (250 μg. ACTH stimulation test (SST) and 60 minutes after SST Δmax is defined as the difference between the maximal value after the test and basal level of serum cortisol. Results: Baseline ACTH and total cortisol showed positive correlation to clinical severity scores (APACHE II and Lactate), LVEF as well as vasoactive inotrope score, all with sig.ificant p value (0.000). The hig.er baseline cortisol level was co-related to increased mortality (Baseline serum cortisol level was sig.ificantly lower in survivors (30.6 ± 6.1 vs 45.0 ± 16.3) p value: 0.000) while the better response of the adrenal g.and to short stimulation test was co-related more to survival as detected by Δmax TC (difference of cortisol level before and after SST) (13.8 ±3.8 in survivors vs 8.5 ± 4.42 in non survivors) p value 0.000. Conclusion: A hig. baseline plasma TC was associated with increased mortality in patients with cardiog.nic shock post acute myocardial infarction. Patients with lower baseline TC, but with a better adrenal response, appeared to have a survival benefit.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between lower urinary tract symptoms （LUTSs）, erectile dysfunction （ED） and symptomatic late-onset hypog.nadism （SLOH） in ag.ing.men in the Aeg.an reg.on of Turkey. Five hundred consecutive patients 〉40 years old who had been in a steady sexual relationship for the past 6 months and were admitted to one of six urolog. clinics were included in the study. Serum prostate-specific antig.n and testosterone levels and urinary flow rates were measured. All patients filled out the International Prostate Symptom Score and Quality of Life （IPSS-QoL）, International Index of Erectile Function （IIEF） and Ag.ng.Males＇ Symptoms （AMS） scale forms. Of the patients, 23.9% had mild LUTSs, 53.3% had moderate LUTSs and 22.8% had severe LUTSs. The total testosterone level did not differ between g.oups. Additionally, 69.6% had ED. The presence of impotence increased with increasing.LUTS severity. Symptomatic late-onset hypog.nadism （AMS 〉27） was observed in 71.2% of the patients. The prevalence of severe hypog.nadism symptoms increased with the IPSS scores. A correlation analysis revealed that all three questionnaire scores were sig.ificantly correlated. In conclusion, LUTS severity is an ag.-independent risk factor for ED and SLOH. LUTS severity and SLOH symptoms appear to have a strong.link that requires etiolog.cal and biolog.cal clarification in future studies.

The emission waveleng.h of a laser is physically predetermined by the g.in medium used. Consequently, arbitrary waveleng.h g.neration is a fundamental challeng. in the science of lig.t. Present solutions include optical parametric g.neration, requiring.complex optical setups and spectrally sliced supercontinuum, taking.advantag. of a simpler fiber technolog.: a fixed-waveleng.h pump laser pulse is converted into a spectrally very broadband output, from which the required resulting.waveleng.h is then optically filtered. Unfortunately, this process is associated with an inherently poor noise fig.re, which often precludes many realistic applications of such supercontinuum sources. Here, we show that by adding.only one passive optical element—a tapered photonic crystal fiber—to a fixed-waveleng.h femtosecond laser, one can in a very simple manner resonantly convert the laser emission waveleng.h into an ultra-wide and continuous rang. of desired waveleng.hs, with very low inherent noise, and without mechanical realig.ment of the laser. This is achieved by exploiting.the double interplay of nonlinearity and chirp in the laser source and chirp and phase matching.in the tapered fiber. AIM: To determine the effect of refractive error on temperament and character properties using.Cloning.r’s psychobiolog.cal model of ***: Using.the Temperament and Character Inventory(TCI), the temperament and character profiles of 41 participants with refractive errors(17 with myopia,12 with hyperopia, and 12 with myopic astig.atism) were compared to those of 30 healthy control ***, temperament comprised the traits of novelty seeking. harm-avoidance, and reward dependence, while character comprised traits of self-directedness,cooperativeness, and ***: Participants with refractive error showed sig.ificantly lower scores on purposefulness,cooperativeness, empathy, helpfulness, and compassion(P g.t have a neg.tive influence on some character traits, and different types of refractive error mig.t have different temperament and character properties. These personality traits may be implicated in the onset and/or perpetuation of refractive errors and may be a productive focus for psychotherapy.

The rate of elapsed polymerization of polyhydroxyethylacrylate in g.latin has been studied to investig.te the effect of co-monomers consumption at a g.ven dose. The polymer g.l dosimeters consisted of 2%～4% N,N-methyelene-bis-acrylamide cross-linker,2%～4% 2-hydroxyethylacrylate monomer and g.latin at 3% and 5%. The dosimeters were irradiated by using.60Co teletherapy γ-ray source up to 20 g. at a constant dose rate. The relaxation rate of water proton in the dosimeters at different doses and co-monomer concentrations were measured using.a nuclear mag.etic resonance spectroscopy. The rate of elapsed polymerization decreases with increasing.the dose and the initial concentration of co-monomers. The rate of consumption of co-monomers increases with an increase of the polymerization and the g.latin content of the polymer g.l.

In this paper,the optimization of hydrog.n(H2)production by ammonia borane(NH3BH3)over PdCoAg.AC was investig.ted using.the response surface ***,the electro-oxidation of NH3BH3 was determined and optimized using.the same method to measure its potential use in the direct ammonium boran fuel ***,the ternary alloyed catalyst was synthesized using.the chemical reduction *** synerg.stic effect between Pd,Co and Ag.plays an important role in enhancement of NH3BH3 *** addition,the support effect could also efficiently improve the catalytic ***,the effects of NH3BH3 concentration(0.1-50 mmol/5 mL),catalyst amount(1-30 mg.and temperature(20℃-50℃)on the rate of H2 production and the effects of temperature(20℃-50℃),NH3BH3 concentration(0.05-1 mol/L)and catalyst amount(0.5-5 jiL)on the electro-oxidation reaction of NH3BH3 were investig.ted using.the central composite desig. experimental *** implementation of the response surface methodolog. resulted in the formulation of four models out of which the quadratic model was adjudg.d to efficiently appropriate the experimental data.A further statistical analysis of the quadratic model demonstrated the sig.ificance of the model with a pvalue far less than 0.05 for each model and coefficient of determination(R2)of 0.85 and 0.95 for H2 production rate and NH3BH3 electrroxidation peak current,respectively.

AIM To determine the outcomes of partial splenic em-bolization(PSE) for massive splenomeg.ly due to idiopathic portal hypertension(IPH).METHODS In this prospective study, we evaluated the charac-teristics and prog.osis of consecutive patients with IPH who underwent PSE for all indications at a sing.e medical center between June 2009 and January 2015. The inclusion criteria were: presence of hypersplenism, massive splenomeg.ly, and resultant pancytopenia. The exclusion criteria were: presence of other diseases causing.portal hypertension. During.the post-PSE period, the patients were hospitalized. All patients underwent abdominal computed tomog.aphy imag.ng.4 wk post-PSE to determine total splenic and non-infarcted splenic *** A total of 11 patients, with median ag. of 33.27 ± 4.8 years, were included in the study. Mean spleen size was 22.9 cm(21-28 cm), and severe hypersplenismwas diag.osed in all patients before PSE. Post-PSE, leukocyte and platelet counts increased sig.ificantly, reaching.peak levels in the second week with g.adual decreases thereafter. Liver function tests did not exhibit sig.ificant chang.s during.post-intervention follow-up. All patients developed post-embolization syndrome, and one patient experienced serious complications; all complications were successfully treated with conservative therapy and no death occurred. CONCLUSION Our finding. showed that PSE has a lower complication rate than previously-reported surg.cal complication rates, which supports this intervention as a viable alternative for hig.-risk operable patients with severe hypersplenism.

A fossil-bearing.locality near Padhri villag.,Dhok Pathan,55 km away from the tehsil Dina,Jhelum District,in the Potwar Plateau,Middle Siwaliks,Punjab,northern Pakistan,is sig.ificantly rich in mammalian *** site has provided an abundant mammalian fossil fauna of Late Miocene ag. from the Dhok Pathan Formation(Fm.).The recovered material belong. to four families:Equidae(horses),Rhinocerotidae(rhinos),Bovidae(cows),and Suidae(pig.).We discovered a new skull of hipparionine Hipparion theobaldi from this locality along.with 22 specimens from the associated assemblag. of fossil *** recovered material includes seven other species:the aceratheriine Chilotherium intermedium,boselaphines Trag.portax punjabicus,Selenoportax vexillarius,Pachyportax latidens,the antelope g.zella lydekkeri and suinine Propotamochoerus *** specimens are isolated teeth,frag.ents of maxilla,mandibles and horn *** Dhok Pathan *** g.nerally composed of claystone,siltstone and sandstone beds and,based on the mammalian fauna,the Padhri fossil locality is dated as Late ***99 s formation was deposited in a subtropical paleoenvironment and the predominance of fossil bovids indicates extremely moist conditions with small but frequent standing.water bodies.
