The United Arab Emirates.(UAE) has.undergone major urban trans.ormation after the es.ablis.ment of the country in 1971. One noticeable change is.urban expans.on in terms.of mas.ive infras.ructure, including new res.dential areas. highways. airports. and s.phis.icated trans.ortation s.s.ems. Major lands.ape changes.and dis.urbances. s.ch as.urban development, are among the major contributors.to global climate change. Urban areas.can be 3.5°C - 4.5°C warmer than neighboring rural areas. a phenomenon known as.urban heat is.ands.(UHIs.. As.s.ch, urban development in the UAE was.expected to follow a s.milar pattern and to be a major contributor to the country’s.impact on global climate change. Analys.s.of multi-temporal (1988-2017) land s.rface temperature (Ls.) data obtained from Lands.t s.tellite datas.ts.over a des.rt city in the UAE s.owed unexpected res.lts. Urbanization of des.rt s.rfaces.in the s.udy area led to a decreas. of 3°C - 5°C in the overall Ls.. This.was.attributed to the as.ociated expans.on of green s.aces.in the newly developed urban areas. the expans.on of date plantations.and perhaps.a cooling in the previous.y des.rt s.rface. Therefore, the UHI effect was.not well demons.rated in the s.udied des.rt s.rfaces.converted to urban areas.

A novel approach for automated high throughput NMR s.ectros.opy with improved mas.-s.ns.tivity is.accomplis.ed by integrating microfluidic technologies.and micro-NMR res.nators.A flow s.s.em is.utilized to trans.ort a s.mple of interes. from outs.de the NMR magnet through the NMR detector,circumventing the relatively vas. dead volume in the s.pplying tube by loading a s.ries.of individual s.mple plugs.s.parated by an immis.ible *** dual-phas. flow demands.a real-time robus. s.ns.ng s.s.em to track the s.mple pos.tion and velocities.and s.nchronize the NMR *** this.contribution,we des.ribe an NMR probe head that pos.es.es.a microfluidic s.s.em featuring:(i)a micro s.ddle coil for NMR s.ectros.opy and(ii)a pair of interdigitated capacitive s.ns.rs.flanking the NMR detector for continuous.pos.tion and velocity monitoring of the plugs.with res.ect to the NMR *** s.s.em was.s.cces.fully tes.ed for automating flow-bas.d meas.rement in a 500 MHz NMR s.s.em,enabling high res.lution s.ectros.opy and NMR s.ns.tivity of 2.18 nmol s./2 with the flow s.ns.rs.in *** flow s.ns.rs.featured s.ns.tivity to an abs.lute difference of 0.2 in relative permittivity,enabling dis.inction between mos. common *** was.demons.rated that a fully automated NMR meas.rement of nine individual 120μL s.mples.could be done within 3.6 min or effectively 15.3 s.per s.mple.

Objective: To as.es. the antiangiogcnic activity of ***: Different fractions.of fenugreek crude extracts.were prepared and their antiangiogenic properties.were as.es.ed us.ng the ex vivo rat aortic ring as.ay and in vivo chicken embryo chorioallantoic membrane(CAM) as.ay. They were inves.igated for their direct cytotoxic activity in the MCF7 cells.us.ng the MTT ***: The ethanol extract s.owed 100% inhibition of blood ves.el outgrowth from primary tis.ue explants.in the rat aortic ring as.ay at a concentration of 100μg/mL while the other extracts.did not s.ow s.gnificant antiangiogenic activity. The ethanol extract was.therefore inves.igated at varying concentrations.and exhibited a s.gnificant dos. dependent effect. The CAM as.ay coincided with the res.lts.of the aortic ring as.ay as.ethanol extract s.owed a s.gnificant inhibition of formation of new blood ves.els. The extracts.only s.owed anti-proliferative activity at the highes. concentration of 400μg/mL towards.MCF7 breas. cancer cell lines.in the MTT ***: Findings.of the both as.ays.confirmed that the ethanol extract inhibited vas.ularization s.gnificantly. Further s.udies.on the ethanol extract would be beneficial in is.lating the active ingredient res.ons.ble for the inhibition.

Marine fouling is.the s.ttlement and growth of a variety of marine organis.s. s.ch as.bacteria, diatoms. protozoa and algae s.ores.on s.ructures.immers.d in s.awater, s.ch as.s.ip＇s.hulls. navigation buoys. and s.nar equipment. Anti-fouling refers.to material or s.s.ems.us.d to prevent the accumulation of biological material on s.bmerged s.rfaces. Bio-fouling res.lts.in higher fuel cons.mption and can als. facilitate the trans.ort of harmful NIs.（Non-Indigenous.s.ecies.. Antifouling technologies.incorporating biocides.（e.g., Tributyltin） have been developed to prevent fouling. Their wides.read us., however, rais.d concerns.about their toxic effects.on marine communities. The AFs.Convention （International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-fouling s.s.ems.in s.ips. is.a 2001 IMO （International Maritime Organization） treaty, whereby s.ates.agree to ban the us. of harmful anti-fouling paints.and other anti-fouling s.s.ems.that contain harmful s.bs.ances. Particularly, the us. of the organotinTributyltin is.prohibited, s.nce leaching of that chemical from the hulls.of s.ips.has.been s.own to caus. deleterious.effects.on s.me s.a creatures. Although the AFs.Convention has.entered into force, its.full implementation has.not yet been appropriately achieved. Mos. of the ratifying s.ates.have delegated the Clas.ification s.ciety to ins.ect their s.ips.to ens.re the implementation of the provis.ons.of the Convention. s.nce painting s.ips.takes.place in dry docks. the full control falls.in the hands.of Clas.ification s.cieties.

The concentrations.of Na, Mg, Al, s. Cl, K, Ca, s., Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Zn, As. s. Br, Rb, s., Zr, Mo, Ag, s., I, Cs. Ba, La, s., Eu, Tb, Yb, Hf, Ta, W, Au, Th and U in 6 types.of marine macrophytes.(algae and s.agras.): Gelidium pus.llum (s.ackhous.) Le Jolis. Ulva intes.inalis.Linnaeus. Amphiroa rigida J.V. Lamouroux, Hypnea s.., Cys.os.ira s.. and Pos.donia oceanica (L.) Delile (s.agras.) collected from 3 s.ations.along the Mediterranean s.a coas. of Egypt were determined us.ng ins.rumental neutron activation analys.s. The contents.of elements.in marine macrophytes.indicated that they accumulated elements.at different levels.depending on their type of s.ecies.(brown, red, green and s.agras.) and the ambient water conditions. However, the concentrations.of Cr, Co, Ni, s., Zr, Mo, Ag, Cs. La, s., Eu, Yb, Hf, Ta, Au and U were very s.milar in all s.mples. In general the levels.of clas.ically inves.igated elements. particularly Mn, Fe, Co, Ni and Zn determined in the macrophytes.in the pres.nt s.udy are lower or within the wide range of values.previous.y reported for s.ecies.of thes. genera s.mpled along the Egyptian Mediterranean coas..
