BACKGROUND Recurrent hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection of transplanted liver allografts is universal in patients with detectable HCV viremia at the time of ***-acting antiviral(DAA)therapy has been adopted as the standard of care for recurrent HCV infection in the post-transplant ***,there are insufficient data regarding its efficacy in liver transplant(LT)recipients with a history of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),and the risk of HCC recurrence after DAA therapy is *** of DAA treatment failure and HCC recurrence in LT *** A total of 106 LT recipients given DAAs for recurrent HCV infection from 2015 to 2019 were identified(68 with and 38 without HCC).Descriptive statistics and logistic regression models were used to estimate the multivariate odds ratios and respective 95%confidence intervals for predictors of treatment failure and HCC *** Six patients(6%)experienced DAA therapy failure post-LT and 100(94%)had a sustained virologic response at follow-up week 12.A high alanine transaminase level>35 U/L at treatment week 4 was a significant predictor of treatment *** to pre-LT DAA therapy is a predictor of post-LT HCC recurrence,P=*** relapse post-LT was also associated with post-transplantation HCC recurrence,P=*** DAAs are effective and safe in the treatment of recurrent HCV infection in LT recipients with history of *** to pre-and post-LT DAA therapy is associated with post-transplantation HCC recurrence.

Solitary Wave Solution of the Two-Dimensional Regularized Long-Wave and Davey-Stewartson Equations in Fluids and Plasmas

This paper investigates the solitary wave solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional regularized long-wave (2DRLG) equation which is arising in the investigation of the Rossby waves in rotating flows and the drift waves in plasmas and (2+1) dimensional Davey-Stewartson (DS) equation which is governing the dynamics of weakly nonlinear modulation of a lattice wave packet in a multidimensional lattice. By using extended mapping method technique, we have shown that the 2DRLG-2DDS equations can be reduced to the elliptic-like equation. Then, the extended mapping method is used to obtain a series of solutions including the single and the combined non degenerative Jacobi elliptic function solutions and their degenerative solutions to the above mentioned class of nonlinear partial differential equations (NLPDEs).

The Formation of Fringes of Equal Chromatic Order across Double Clad Fiber in the Presence of High Power Lasers

Multiple-beam fringes of equal chromatic order interferometry is a powerful technique to extract optical properties over a continuous range of spectrum. In this paper we develop a theory for the spectral shape of the fringes of equal chromatic order (FECO) that are formed across a double-clad fiber. The modified single term Sellmeier dispersion formula is used to construct the refractive index dispersion curves for the liquid, claddings, and core. Expressions for the paraxial optical path length for several rays passing through the fiber and the liquid are developed. The condition of bright fringe is applied to get an analytical expression for the spectral shape of the FECO across a double-clad fiber with an elliptical/circular inner cladding. A potential application of this theory is to determine the dispersion of Kerr constant of the claddings and the core of the fiber. To illustrate the theory and its application, simulation examples are provided and discussed.

Bougainvillea spectabilis flowers extract protects against the rotenone-induced toxicity

Objective:To investigate the effect of two extracts of Bougainvillea spectabilis(B. spectabilis) flowers with yellow and pink/purple on brain oxidative stress and neuronal damage caused in rats by systemic rotenone injection. Methods:Rotenone 1.5 mg/kg was given three times per week alone or in combination with B. spectabilis flowers extracts(25 mg or 50 mg) via the subcutaneous route for 2 weeks. Brain concentrations of the lipid peroxidation marker malondialdehyde(MDA),reduced glutathione,nitric oxide(nitrite),the pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-1beta(Il-1β) as well as butyrylcholinesterase,and paraoxonase-1(PON-1) activities,were determined. Histopathology and caspase-3 immunohistochemistry were also performed. Results:Rotenone resulted in significant increases of brain MDA(the product of lipid peroxidation),and nitric oxide content along with decreased brain reduced glutathione. There were also marked and significant inhibition of brain PON-1 and BCh E activities and increased Il-1β in brain of rotenone-treated rats. B. spectabilis flowers extract itself resulted in brain oxidative stress increasing both lipid peroxidation and nitrite content whilst inhibiting PON-1 activity. The yellow flowers extract inhibited BCh E activity and increased brain Il-1β. When given to rotenone-treated rats,B. spectabilis extracts,however,decreased lipid peroxidation while their low administered doses increased brain GSH. Brain nitrite decreased by the pink extract but showed further increase by the yellow extract. Either extract,however,caused further inhibition of PON-1 activity while the yellow extract resulted in further inhibition of BChE activity. Histopathological studies indicated that both extracts protected against brain,liver and kidney damage caused by the toxicant. Conclusions:These data indicate that B. spectabilis flowers extracts exert protective effect against the toxic effects of rotenone on brain,liver and kidney. Non-compliant antibiotics pose problems of therapeutic efficacy at the level of the individual, but also a serious public health problem. The objective of our study was to evaluate the quality of generic amoxicillin (42 samples) by analytical methods in Dakar/Senegal. At 100% visual inspection of compliance;100% compliance uniformity test;at the dissolution test all > 80% (86.8% to 108.8%). The presence of amoxicillin with the following contents: Tablets (95.2% to 104.1%);Capsules (91.5% to 113.9%) and Suspensions drinkable (96.9% - 118.7%). All the samples in our study are 100% compliant according to the European and American pharmacopoeias (90% - 120%). Other studies should therefore be oriented in the direction of stability as well as the dosage of degradation products.

Primary breast leiomyosarcoma: case report and literature review

PURPOSE: Leiomyosarcoma of the breast is extremely rare. To date, the factors that are predictive of patient prognosis have not been identified. To clarify the nature of leiomyosarcoma of the breast, and also to establish the proper treatment strategy, we report this case We report this case while discussing The Clinical presentation, diagnosis, therapy and pathologic feature. INTRODUCION: Sarcomas comprise less than 1% of all primary breast neoplasms and only a minority of these are leiomyosarcomas. There were only 35 cases being reported in English literature. The mainstay of treatment is surgical excision with clear margins and longterm followup is essential. Its prognosis is better compared to other breast sarcoma. CASE PRESENTATION: We report a case of primary leiomyosarcoma of the breast occurring in young female patient which was successfully treated by surgery and radiotherapy. CONCLUSION: According to literature data, primary leiomyosarcoma is characterized by a better prognosis compared with other breast sarcomas, To date, the factors that are predictive of patient prognosis have not been identified. .The rarity and diagnostic difficulty imposed a multidisciplinary approach.

Feeding Study with Bt Corn (MON810: Ajeeb YG) on Rats: Biochemical Analysis and Liver Histopathology

Bt corn “MON810: Ajeeb YG” produces delta endotoxins in the whole plant due to the genetic modification process. The chemical analysis of this variety showed significant differences from its conventional counterpart “Ajeeb”. Further, feeding studies on rats were designed to complete assessing the safety of “MON810: Ajeeb YG”. Three groups of rats (6 males and 6 females’ rats/group) were fed on control diet, non-Bt corn and Bt corn for 1.5 months and 3 months. After 1.5 months, 3 males and 3 females from each group were sacrificed, and after another 1.5 months, 3 males and 3 females from each group and their offspring were sacrificed. Histopathological examination, blood haematology and serum biochemical analysis were determined. Results indicated significant differences among the tested parameters in the three groups especially Bt group. Severe changes in the liver of Bt group after 3 months were observed.

Modeling and Simulation of Laser Assisted Turning of Hard Steels

This research work is focused on simulation of laser assisted turning as a new solution for machining of hard steels. A transient, three-dimensional model was developed to predict the temperature distribution of a rotated cylindrical steel workpiece subjected to a localized heating using a moving Gaussian laser beam. In this regard, a User-Defined Function was created to overcome the problem of a moving Gaussian heat source’ definition. This User-Defined Function was compiled into a finite volume software package (Fluent), where three-dimensional single precision solver was used for analysis. Based on this model, simulation of the surface temperature of 32 mm diameter workpiece of AISI51 50H steel was performed as a function of time at a specific distance behind the laser beam spot, which is corresponding to 30° angle from the laser beam. The simulation results were compared with other published data of the same steel type where a close agreement was obtained. The verified model was used for simulation of laser assisted turning of 20 mm diameter workpiece of AISI D2 tool steel. The cutting depth, behind the laser beam, was set at a distance corresponding to 60° angle from the laser beam for having sufficient access for handling both laser head and cutting tool. This cutting depth was studied as a function of different lasers and machining parameters. The results indicated that the optimum parameters for successful laser-assisted turning process of the concerned steels are 800 W laser power, 5 mm laser beam spot diameter, 20 sec preheating time, 0.8 mm/sec laser scanning speed, 300 rpm rotational speed and 0.8 mm/sec feed rate. These parameters ensure easy/successful cutting of 1 mm depth in one pass without deteriorating the properties of the remaining bulk material. It can be deduced that the developed model might provide a useful tool for online process control of different steel types regardless of their physical properties and geometries.

Performance Assessment of Some Flax (<i>Linum usitatissimum</i>L.) Varieties Using Cluster Analysis under Sandy Soil Conditions

To assess the performance and the variability of 49 flax varieties based on agronomic parameters using cluster analysis, a field experiment was conducted in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 winter seasons at the farm of the National Research Center at Nubria district, Albehira Governorate, Egypt. The results revealed high significant difference among all flax varieties in all the studied characters. Letwania-9 and Evelen cultivars surpassed all other varieties in seed and oil yields/fed. On the other hand, D variety gave the lowest value of seed yield/fed and F variety gave the lowest values of oil% and oil yield/fed. While, G Variety surpassed all other varieties in straw yield/fed. Blanka variety recorded the lowest values of straw yield/fed and biological yield/fed, while, Posna variety gave the lowest values of technical stem length (cm). In cluster analysis, all the studied characters were used to construct a distance matrix using the Euclidian coefficient, and generate dendrogram showing dissimilarity among all the varieties. Distance coefficient was ranged from 1.2 between Piltstar and Litwania-1 varieties and 10.8 between Posna and G varieties, which reveal the genetic diversity among varieties. The varieties can be divided into 4 groups based on cluster analysis.

Reviewing the current literature for the importance of the plant Albizia lebbeck L. growing worldwide revealed many biological interests. However, the species growing in Saudi Arabia has not received due attention. The present study was undertaken to study antipyretic, analgesic, estrogenic and anti-inflammatory activities of five different fractions from successive extraction of Albizia lebbeck flowers: n hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, n-butanol as well as the 70% total alcohol. The flowers showed reasonable antipyretic, analgesic, estrogenic and anti-inflammatory activities.
