Gastric cancer(GC) is a global health problem and a major cause of cancer-related death with high recurrence rates ranging from 25% to 40% for GC patients staging Ⅱ-Ⅳ. Unfortunately, while the majority of GC patients usually present with advanced tumor stage; there is still limited evidence-based therapeutic options. Current approach to GC management consists mainly of; endoscopy followed by, gastrectomy and chemotherapy or chemo-radiotherapy. Recent studies in GC have confirmed that it is a heterogeneous disease. Many molecular characterization studies have been performed in GC. Recent discoveries of the molecular pathways underlying the disease have opened the door to more personalized treatment and better predictable outcome. The identification of molecular markers is a useful tool for clinical managementin GC patients, assisting in diagnosis, evaluation of response to treatment and development of novel therapeutic modalities. While chemotherapeutic agents have certain physiological effects on the tumor cells, the prediction of the response is different from one type of tumor to the other. The specificity of molecular biomarkers is a principal feature driving their application in anticancer therapies. Here we are trying to focus on the role of molecular pathways of GC and well-established molecular markers that can guide the therapeutic management.

The generation of reality-based 3D models of archeological sites is the future of representing existing ancient structures. Such approach requires substantial economic and logistical costs which limit this application. In this context, this paper presents the use of photogrammetric workflow, based on Structure from Motion techniques (SfM) to derive 3D metric information from Structure-and-Motion images. The interdisciplinary 3D modeling framework consists of fusion of multi resolution images from both overlapped low-altitude aerial and multi-view terrestrial imagery. The acquisition of aerial photographs survey was based on archived oblique aerial stereo pair photos acquired from the Aerial Photographic Archive for Archaeology in the Middle east (APAAMe) project, while terrestrial of close range photos covering the castle walls has been acquired using portable camera. Camera calibration and orientation were carried out by VisualSFM, CMPMVS (Multi-View Reconstruction) and SURe (Photogrammetric Surface Reconstruction from Imagery) software. The resulted cloud points were processed using cloud Compare, MeshLab, Agisoft, and Skethup Softwares. A complete 3D digital geometric recording of the site was accomplished based on dense 3D point clouds with realistic metric accuracy and photorealistic performance to meet all the surveying and archaeological needs. The final Ajloun castle’s digital model geometry was added as a 3D building layer on Google earth.

Purpose: This study aims to classify research impact indicators based on their characteristics and scope. A concept of evidence-based nomenclature of research impact(RI) indicator has been introduced for generalization and transformation of scope. Design/methodology/approch: Literature was collected related to the research impact assessment. It was categorized in conceptual and applied case studies. One hundred and nineteen indicators were selected to prepare classification and nomenclature. The nomenclature was developed based on the principle—"every indicator is a contextual-function to explain the impact". every indicator was disintegrated into three parts, i.e. Function, Domain, and Target ***: The main functions of research impact indicators express improvement(63%), recognition(23%), and creation/development(14%). The focus of research impact indicators in literature is more towards the academic domain(59%) whereas the environment/sustainability domain is least considered(4%). As a result, research impact related to the research aspects is felt the most(29%). Other target areas include system and services, methods and procedures, networking, planning, policy development, economic aspects and commercialisation, etc. Research limitations: This research applied to 119 research impact indicators. However, the inclusion of additional indicators may change the result. Practical implications: The plausible effect of nomenclature is a better organization of indicators with appropriate tags of functions, domains, and target areas. This approach also provides a framework of indicator generalization and transformation. Therefore, similar indicators can be applied in other fields and target areas with modifications. Outcomes and Prognostic Factors of Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Retrospective Study

Background: Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a high grade neuroendocrine tumor, and has aggressive nature, so the majority of cases are presented with extensive disease. SCLC was staged into 2 categories: limited-stage disease (LS-SCLC) and extensive disease (eS-SCLC). Despite SCLC is sensitive to ra-diotherapy and chemotherapy, SCLC has high tendency for rapid dissemina-tion to regional and distant sites. Median survival time ranged from 2 - 4 months in patients with untreated SCLC. Multiagent chemotherapy was the primary treatment for SCLC. Aim of the work: This retrospective study was conducted to evaluate and analyze clinical features, treatment outcome, sur-vival and prognostic factors affecting survival in patients with SCLC presented to Clinical Oncology and Nuclear Medicine department, Chest department and Medical oncology unit in Mansoura Oncology Centre during the period from 2000-2015. Methods: Data of patients were collected from their files. The information obtained included demographic features, treatment received;its toxicity and outcome, survival and its prognostic factors. Demographic data were: age, eastern Cooperative Oncology Group Performance Status (eCOG-PS), smoking status, stage of disease. Data also included disease presentation and metastatic sites. Several factors affecting survival were analysed as age, sex, stage, PS, smoking status and LDH. Results: Sixty-three patients were enrolled in this study. Median age was 56.2 ± 6. Strong male predominance (92.1%) was observed;84.1% of them were smoker. Thirty six patients (57.2%) were of eCOG-PS of 0 - 1. eS-SCLC was reported in 65% of cases and LDH was high (>1.5 xN) in 47.6%. The most common symptom was chest pain (38.1%) followed by cough (31.8%), weight loss (30%). Fifteen patients had single metastatic site (23.8%) and bone was the most common site of metastasis (reported in 8 patients) followed by brain, lung and liver. 2-year overall survival rate was 35% with median survival time of 14

Radio-labelled MIBG therapy has been tried in the treatment of advanced stage III and IV neuroblastoma in an attempt to improve patients outcome. The use of radiolabelled MIBG to treat neuroblastoma has arisen from the high sensitivity and specificity of in vivo MIBG imaging for detection of primary and metastatic tumours. Although, clinical trials have been performed to determine the role of MIBG therapy, the overall therapeutic strategy of MIBG therapy is not precisely defined. Aim of the work: to determine the impact of MIBG therapy on patients’ outcome especially their quality of life. Patients & methods: 42 paediatri neuroblastoma patients are included in this study, 12 (28.5%) stage III disease and 30 (71.5%) stage IV. I-131 MIBG doses ranged from 100 to 150 mCi with number of courses ranged from 1-8 according to response and toxicity. Results: Group I (stage III): 1/12 patients showed complete response, 5/12 patients had partial response and the other 6 patients remained stable. The 5 years event free survival (eFS) of stage III patients was 46.6% and the overall survival was 75%. Group II (stage IV): 2/30 patients achieved CR, 9/30 patients showed PR to I-131 MIBG and the other 18 remained stable. The 5 years event free survival (eFS) of stage IV patients was 48.2% and the overall survival was 69%. Conclusion: We conclude that 131I-MIBG therapy has favourable therapeutic effects that are translated into an overall improved outcome with good quality of life.

We propose a relaxation rate or dissipative cavity-based parameters that can be used as indicators of the stationary limit of a mixed state geometric phase. We perform our considerations for the system of a superconducting qubit in an open transmission line or interacting with a dissipative cavity. This system is very useful for performing an effective quantum computation by exhibiting the long collapse time of the geometric phase. It is shown that the geometric phase in the stationary limit does not depend on interaction time if the decay time exceeds an upper bound.

Thermal performance of cooling strategies for asphalt pavement: A state-of-the-art review

Asphalt pavements absorb and store more heat than natural surfaces. Thus, high temperatures are emitted from conventional asphalt pavements, subsequently releasing heat into the atmosphere and contributing to the urban heat island(UHI) phenomenon. Several cool pavement strategies, including the provision of additives and materials, surface coating and layer design, have been introduced to reduce the impact of UHI. This article provides a detailed review of the thermal properties of these mitigation measures in the context of cool asphalt pavements. The literature can be divided into three segments. The first segment discusses the impact of pavements on UHI and heat transfer mechanisms in pavements. The second segment focuses on various thermo physical properties that play an important role in mitigation measures;these properties include albedo(a), emissivity(e),solar reflective index, thermal conductivity(k), specific heat capacity(Cp) and thermal diffusivity. The third segment discusses cool asphalt pavement strategies which specifically cover the ability of the pavement to absorb and reflect solar energy on the basis of the materials and treatments used. The literature reveals that cooling strategies that deal with the pavement surface are important due to its direct incident solar effect, which depends on surface colour, material, shape and roughness. By using high-albedo and high-emissivity surfaces, the pavement can store less heat and lower the surface temperature. These results can also be achieved by designing the materials and pavement layers with low thermal conductivity and high specific heat capacity to reduce thermal diffusivity and pavement temperature and thus combat the heat radiated by the asphalt pavement.

Tissue engineering response may be tailored via controlled,sustained release of active agents from protein-loaded degradable microparticles incorporated directly within three-dimensional(3D)ice-templated collagen ***,the effects of covalent crosslinking during scaffold preparation on the availability and release of protein from the incorporated microparticles have not been ***,we load 3D ice-templated collagen scaffolds with controlled additions of poly-(DL-lactide-co-glycolide)*** probe the effects of subsequent N-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-N0-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride crosslinking on protein release,using microparticles with different internal protein *** isothiocyanate labelled bovine serum albumin is used as a model protein *** scaffolds display a homogeneous microparticle distribution,and a reduction in pore size and percolation diameter with increased microparticle addition,although these values did not fall below those reported as necessary for cell *** protein distribution within the microparticles,near the surface or more deeply located within the microparticles,was important in determining the release profile and effect of crosslinking,as the surface was affected by the carbodiimide crosslinking reaction applied to the *** of microparticles with a high proportion of protein at the surface caused both a reduction and delay in protein *** located within the bulk of the microparticles,was protected from the crosslinking reaction and no delay in the overall release profile was seen.
