The numerical simulations were performed using the AmPS-1D simulator to study the effects of the CZTS as an absorber layer and the contacts’barrier height on the performance of four ZnO/CdS/CZTS solar *** obtain the best cell performances,the barrier heights of the back and front contacts were adjusted between 0.01,0.77,0.5,and 1.55 eV,*** simulations,we used the lifetime mode,and the device performances were evaluated under Am1.5 illumination *** found that the efficiency,fill factor,and open-circuit voltage were almost constant at a front contact barrier height of less than 0.31 *** short-current density was not affected by the front contact barrier *** back contact material had a significant impact on the CZTS cells *** best performance was obtained for the CZTS550 cell with JSC=29.53 mA/cm2,VOC=1.07 V,FF=0.88,andη=28.08%at barrier heights of 0.31 and 1.55 eV for front and back contacts,*** conduction band offset at the CZTS550/CdS hetero-junction was found to be spike-like with 0.21 *** obtained conversion efficiency is comparable to those previously reported in the literature.

Optimization of Slope Angle and Its Seismic Stability: A Case Study for the Proposed Open Pit Coalmine in Phulbari,NW Bangladesh

The present study reflects upon the results of substantial program of two-dimensional Finite Element method （FEm） numerical analyses of the open pit that links to slope angle optimization associated with the safety factor of the pit slope of a coal mine in Bangladesh. In the present analyses, two types of models have been presented. The first model estimates safety factor without seismic effect on the overall pit slope of the model; the second model incorporates safety factor with seismic stability of the model. The calculated optimum slope angle of the first model is 31% with a rational safety factor of 1.51, prior to the seismic effect. However, the value is reduced to 0.93, 0.82, and 0.72, after we applies the seismic effect in the second model with m6, m6.5, and m7, respectively. Finally, our modeling results emphasize that for the case of the proposed Phulbari coalmine, there is extremely high prospect for causing massive slope failure along the optimum pit slope angle with 31% if the mine area felt seismic shaking, like the Sikkim （in northern India） earthquake with m6.9 on September 18, 2011.

The functional response of Cydonia vicina nilotica muls. （Coleoptera： Coccinellidae） to six densities of Aphis craccivora Koch （Homoptera： Aphididae） nymphs on broad bean （Viciafaba Linn.） was investigated in the laboratory. A linear relationship between the rate of consumption and prey density was observed with r^2 values between 0.58 and 0.97. Plotting prey density against prey killed by four larval instars, and adult males and females of C. vicina nilotica fit well with the type Ⅱ model of Holling＇ s disc equation. Adult females consumed the highest number of prey, followed by fourth instars and adult males. Based on the functional response data, the model predicts a maximum of 144.9, 116.3, 86.2, 80.0, 72.5 and 20.0 nymphs to be consumed per day by an individual adult female, fourth instar, adult male, third, second and first instars, respectively. The differences in the responses of the predator to aphid densities are discussed.

We present a case of a 33-year-old female who sustained multiple injuries of her spine, including spinous process fractures of C5 to C7 and a lamina fracture of C6 and C7. Her thoracic spine showed transverse process fractures of T4 to T10, a compression fracture and lamina fracture of T3, spinous process and transverse process fractures of T4 and T5, a rotation injury of T6, as well as a compression fracture of L1. Thirteen months after posterior thoracic spinal instrumentation, a pedicle screw was suspected to be in contact with the aorta, which was proved by computed tomography angiograms. Consequently, implant removal was planned with direct exposure of the aorta in order to allow for immediate repair if needed. So far, studies that compare different techniques to remove pedicle screws that are suspected to penetrate the aorta are missing. However, different techniques have been described in case reports, mainly minimally invasive endovascular techniques vs open techniques such as thoracotomy.

A series of new 2,5-disubstituted-l,3,4-oxadiazole and 1,2,4-triazole derivatives were synthesized by hetero- cyclization of acid hydrazide I and thiosemicarbazide derivative 2. Furthermore, the acyclic C-nucleoside analogs were prepared by cyclization of their corresponding sugar hydrazones by reaction with acetic anhydride. The antimicrobial activity of the prepared compounds was evaluated and some of the synthesized compounds revealed good activities against fungi.
