m.crostructural Evolution of Solid-solution-treated Zn-22Al in the Sem.solid State

The effect of solid-solution-treatm.nt on the sem.solid m.crostructure of Zn-22Al with developed dendrites was investigated. Form.ng Zn-22Al products by sem.solid m.tal processing offers significant advantages, such as reductions in m.cro-segregation, porosity and form.ng costs. Therm.l and rnicrostructural analyses of the form.d Zn-22Al alloy were perform.d by differential scanning calorim.try, scanning electron m.croscopy and optical m.croscopy. The changes in the m.crostructures and phase transform.tion in response to various solid- solution-treatm.nts were analysed. In this study, as-cast sam.les were held isotherm.lly at 330 ℃ for 0.5- 5 h and then partially rem.lted at a sem.solid tem.erature of 438 ℃ for 1 h to produce a solid-globular grain structure in a liquid m.trix. A non-dendritic sem.solid m.crostructure could not be obtained when the traditionally cast Zn 22Al alloy with developed dendrites was subjected directly to partial rem.lting. After solid-solution-treatm.nt at 330 ℃, the black interdendritic eutectics were dissolved, and the dendritic structures gradually transform.d into uniform.β structures when the treatm.nt tim. was increased. The coarsened and m.rged dendrites were separated as a result of penetration by the liquid phase and m.lting of the residual eutectic at sites along the form.r grain boundaries. The m.crostructure of the solid-solution- treated sam.le transform.d into a sm.ll globular structure; the best shape factor of 0.9, corresponding to a particle size of 40 ± 16 μm. is achieved when the sam.le was treated for 3 h followed by direct partial rem.lting into its sem.solid zone.

The Case Against Delusional Parasitosis

The body of knowledge on delusional parasitosis incrim.nates ＂delusional patients＂ as having im.ginary external and/or internal sym.tom. that feel like parasite m.vem.nts, dism.sses them.as psychiatric cases, and confuses cause with effect. The author is critical of these argum.nts and believes that the sym.tom. of crawling and pin-pricking are genuine; just m.sinterpreted as parasite m.vem.nts. Based on the author＇s research on over 1000 ＂delusional＂ patients since 1996 at the Parasitology Center, Inc. （PCI）, the author has established that the sym.tom. of crawling and pin-pricking are caused by toxicity from.exposure to incom.atible dental m.terials, im.lants, environm.ntal toxins am.ng others that alter the propagation of norm.l nerve im.ulses. The author has also observed that external parasites/organism. including springtails （Collem.ola）, other arthropods, bacteria, and fungi represent only opportunistic infections of skin sites com.rom.sed by the toxicity disorder involving the elim.nation of toxins through the skin. The author has described a new pathological disorder, Neuro-cutaneous Syndrom. （NCS） prim.rily associated with dental toxicity to which ＂delusional parasitosis＂ and m.rgellons disease cases could be assigned. The author has developed a protocol for the resolution of the sym.tom. of NCS cases. When followed to the letter, all sym.tom. of NCS, conventionally called delusional parasitosis, are invariably and irreversibly resolved; each individual＇s unique circum.tances taken into account. The author is also presenting a detailed case history of an NCS patient that has recovered from.her experiential personal perspective.

Functional statistics is a new technique for dealing with data thatcan be viewed as curves or im.ges. Parallel to this approach, the Near-InfraredReflectance (NIR) spectroscopym.thodology has been used in m.dern chem.stryas a rapid, low-cost, and exact m.ans of assessing an object’s chem.calproperties. In this research, we investigate the quality of corn and cookiedough by analyzing the spectroscopic technique using certain cutting-edgestatistical m.dels. By analyzing spectral data and applying functional m.delsto it, we could predict the chem.cal com.onents of corn and cookie *** Functional Classical Estim.tion (KFCE), Kernel Functional QuantileEstim.tion (KFQE), Kernel Functional Expectile Estim.tion (KFEE),Sem.-Partial Linear Functional Classical Estim.tion (SPLFCE), Sem.-PartialLinear Functional Quantile Estim.tion (SPLFQE), and Sem.-Partial LinearFunctional Expectile Estim.tion (SPLFEE) are m.dels used to accuratelyestim.te the different quantities present in Corn and Cookie dough. Theselection of these functional m.dels is based on their ability to constructa forecast region with a high level of confidence. We dem.nstrate that theconsidered m.dels outperform.traditional m.dels such as the partial leastsquaresregression and the principal com.onent regression in term. of predictionaccuracy. Furtherm.re, we show that the proposed m.dels are m.rerobust than com.eting m.dels such as SPLFQE and SPLFEE in the sensethat data heterogeneity has no effect on their efficiency.

The problem.of predicting continuous scalar outcom.s from.functional predictors has received high levels of interest in recent years in m.ny fields,especially in the food *** k-nearest neighbor(k-NN)m.thod of Near-Infrared Reflectance(NIR)analysis is practical,relatively easy to im.lem.nt,and becom.ng one of the m.st popular m.thods for conducting food quality based on NIR *** k-NN is often nam.d k nearest neighbor classifier when it is used for classifying categorical variables,while it is called k-nearest neighbor regression when it is applied for predicting noncategorical *** objective of this paper is to use the functional Near-Infrared Reflectance(NIR)spectroscopy approach to predict som. chem.cal com.onents with som. m.dern statistical m.dels based on the kernel and k-Nearest Neighbour *** this paper,three NIR spectroscopy datasets are used as exam.les,nam.ly Cookie dough,sugar,and tecator ***,we propose three m.dels for this kind of data which are Functional Nonparam.tric Regression,Functional Robust Regression,and Functional Relative Error Regression,with both kernel and k-NN approaches to com.are between *** experim.ntal result shows the higher efficiency of k-NN predictor over the kernel *** predictive power of the k-NN m.thod was com.ared with that of the kernel m.thod,and several real data sets were used to determ.ne the predictive power of both m.thods.

BACKGROUND:We aim.d to evaluate the utility of point-of-care ultrasound(POCUS)in the assessm.nt of hand infections that present to the em.rgency departm.nt(ED)and its im.act on m.dical decision m.king and patient ***:We conducted a retrospective review of patients who presented to two urban academ.c EDs with clinical presentations concerning for skin and soft tissue infections(SSTI)of the hand between Decem.er 2015 and Decem.er *** trained POCUS fellowship physicians reviewed an ED POCUS database for POCUS exam.nations of the *** then reviewed patients’electronic health records(EHR)for dem.graphic characteristics,history,physical exam.nation findings,ED course,additional im.ging studies,consultations,im.act of POCUS on patient care and final ***:We included a total of 50 cases(28 m.le,22 fem.le)in the final *** m.st com.on presenting sym.tom. and exam.findings were pain(100%),swelling(90%),and erythem.(74%).The m.st com.on sonographic findings were edem.(76%),soft tissue swelling(78%),and fluid surrounding the tendon(57%).POCUS was used in m.dical decision m.king 68%of the tim.(n=34),with the use of POCUS leading to changes in m.nagem.nt 38%of the tim.(n=19).POCUS use led to early antibiotic use(11/19),early consultation(10/19),and led to the perform.nce of a required procedure(8/19).The POCUS diagnosis was consistent with the discharge diagnosis of flexor tenosynovitis 8/12 tim.s,abscess 12/16 tim.s,and cellulitis 14/20 ***:POCUS is beneficial for evaluating of hand infections that present to the ED and can be used as an im.ortant part of m.dical decision m.king to expedite patient care.

Gastric cancer rem.ins a global killer with a shifting burden from.the developed to the developing world. The cancer develops along a m.ltistage process that is defined by distinct histological and pathophysiological phases. Several genetic and epigenetic alterations m.diate the transition from.one stage to another and these include m.tations in oncogenes, tum.ur suppressor genes and cell cycle and m.sm.tch repair genes. The m.st significant advance in the fight against gastric caner cam. with the recognition of the role of Helicobacter pylori （H pylori） as the m.st im.ortant acquired aetiological agent for this cancer. Recent work has focussed on elucidating the com.lex host/m.crobial interactions that underlie the neoplastic process. There is now considerable insight into the pathogenesis of this cancer and the prospect of preventing and eradicating the disease has becom. a reality. Perhaps m.re im.ortantly, the study of H pylori-induced gastric carcinogenesis offers a paradigm.for understanding m.re com.lex hum.n cancers. In this review, we exam.ne the m.lecular and cellular events that underlie Hpyloriinduced gastric cancer.

Al–Si–Cu–m. foundry alloys are used in casting process ***,their strength properties rem.in low due to their m.crostructural characteristics and *** this work,the m.crostructural characteristics,dislocation densities,and m.chanical properties of Al–Si–Cu–m. cast alloys prepared through different casting m.thods were studied *** casting processes,nam.ly,gravity casting(GC),rheocasting(RC),thixoform.ng(Thixo),and Thixo with heat treatm.nt,were *** GC and RC sam.les had m.inly dendriticα-Al phase m.crostructures and exhibited coarse Si particles and interm.tallic com.ounds in their interdendritic *** contrast,the Thixo and heat-treated Thixo(HT-Thixo)sam.les exhibited m.crostructural refinem.nt with uniform.y distributedα-Al globules,fine fibrous Si particles,and fragm.nted interm.tallic com.ounds am.ngα-Al *** accum.lation of dislocation densities increased in the Thixo sam.le as the strain was increased due to plastic ***,the ultim.te tensile strength and yield strength of the HT-Thixo sam.le increased by 87%and 63%,respectively,relative to those of the GC *** cleavage fracture displayed by the GC and RC sam.les led to brittle ***,the Thixo and HT-Thixo sam.les presented dim.le-based ductile fracture.

Objective:To evaluate the prevalence of intestinal parasites am.ng patients in Hail,Northwestern Saudi ***:Stool sam.les were collected from.130 patients(69fem.les and 61 m.les) in Hail General *** sam.le was exam.ned by direct wet m.unt m.croscopic exam.nation using both norm.l saline and Lugol's iodine preparation and concentration techniques using salt and form.l-ether *** stained sm.ars were perform.d for intestinal coccidian using m.dified Ziehl-Neelsen ***:The overall prevalence of intestinal parasitic infection was 45.38%(59 cases).Forty-four(33.84%)were found to be infected with one or m.re intestinal protozoa.5(3.84%) were infected with helm.nthes and 10(7.69%) had m.xed infection with both helm.nthes and *** m.st com.on intestinal helm.nth detected was Ancyloxtom. duvdenale(n=5.3.84%),followed by Ascaris *** *** Trichuris trichiura(n=2 for each species,1.5%).For intestinal protozoa,the coccidian Cryptosporidium.parvum.n=25,19.23%) was the m.st com.on followed by Entam.eba histolytica/dispur(n=21,16.15%),Giurdia lam.lia(n=15,11.54%),Entam.eba coli(n=5.3.85%) and Blastocysts hom.nis(n=3,2.30%).The prevalence of intestinal parasitic infections in fem.les was significantly higher than in m.les(Pm.ortant public health problem.in Northwestern Saudi Arabia Therefore,health education would be the best way to prevent from.intestinal parasite infections which are m.inly food borne diseases.

m.ckel's diverticulum.is a com.on asym.tom.tic congenital gastrointestinal anom.ly,but rarely it can present with *** the last few years inverted m.ckel's diverticulum.has been reported in the literature with increasing frequency as an occult source of lower gastrointestinal ***,we report a case of a 54-year-old m.le,who was referred for surgical evaluation with persistent anem.a and occult blood per rectum.after a work up which failed to localize the source over 12 m.,including upper and capsule endoscopy,colonoscopy,enteroclysis,m.ckel scan,and tagged nuclear red blood cell *** abdom.nal com.uted tom.graphy scan showed a possible m.d-ileal intussusception and intralum.nal *** the abdom.nal exploration,inverted m.ckel's diverticulum.was diagnosed and *** review the literature,discuss the form. in which the disease presents,the diagnostic m.dalities utilized,pathological findings,and *** less than 40 cases have been reported in the English literature from.1978 to 2005,19 cases have been reported in the last 6 years alone(2006-2012) due to im.roved diagnostic *** diagnosis and treatm.nt of this disease requires a high index of clinical suspicion,which is becom.ng increasingly relevant to general gastroenterologists.
