Short-Term Sinusoidal Modeling of an Oriental Music Signal by Using CQT Transform

In this paper, we propose a method for characterizing a musical signal by extracting a set of harmonic descriptors reflecting the maximum information contained in this signal. We focus our study on a signal of oriental music characterized by its richness in tone that can be extended to 1/4 tone, taking into account the frequency and time characteristics of this type of music. To do so, the original signal is slotted and analyzed on a window of short duration. This signal is viewed as the result of a combined modulation of amplitude and frequency. For this result, we apply short-term the non-stationary sinusoidal modeling technique. In each segment, the signal is represented by a set of sinusoids characterized by their intrinsic parameters: amplitudes, frequencies and phases. The modeling approach adopted is closely related to the slot window;therefore great importance is devoted to the study and the choice of the kind of the window and its width. It must be of variable length in order to get better results in the practical implementation of our method. For this purpose, evaluation tests were carried out by synthesizing the signal from the estimated parameters. Interesting results have been identified concerning the comparison of the synthesized signal with the original signal.

This paper deals with a dynamic analysis of an optimal technique used for direct electrical energy storage, where a concept of charge transfer between different electric storage units is used. This analysis is developed to seek for efficient and real time conditions to maintain optimal behavior for charge recovery from intermittent power sources in the field of renewable energies like solar and wind. The proposed analysis leads to elaborating a set of interesting states and conditions that allows the user to choose effective configuration parameters that lead to an optimal or near optimal charge transfer device. The proposed device is designed to ensure an optimal transfer of electric charges. It must be self-configured to retrieve and transfer the maximum energy from the sources to the storage units (Super-capacitors, batteries…). Some interesting results, by simulating the proposed device, are presented to show how this optimization problem can be viewed as a combinatorial one, where the optimization algorithm is asked to find the suitable switching combination to configure the device to be closest to the optimal charge recovery.

Efficient Choice of a Multilevel Inverter for Integration on a Hybrid Wind-Solar Power Station

DC/AC converters are very important components that have to be chosen efficiently for each type of power station. In this article, we present in details, a comparison between three different architectures of multilevel inverters, the flying capacitor multilevel inverter (FCMLI), the diode clamped multilevel inverter (DCMLI), and the cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter (CHMLI). Thus the comparison is focused on the output voltage quality, the complexity of the power circuits, the cost of implementation, and the influence on a power bank inside the renewable power station. We also investigate trough simulation the efficient number of levels and suitable characteristics for the CHMLI that showed the most promising performance. The study uses Matlab Simulink platform as a tool of simulation, and aim to choose the most qualified inverter, for a potential insertion on a hybrid renewable energy platform (wind-solar). In all the simulations we use the same PWM control type (SPWM).

An Optimal Management System of a Wind Energy Supplier

In this paper, we propose a real time approach to optimize the supplied energy of a wind station. This station is used for electric energy storage in battery bank, water pumping, lighting and heating systems. The characterization of the wind generator allows us to estimate the available electrical wind energy of the platform. A data sheet of the required energy for each load (battery charging, wind pumping system, lighting system and heating system) is drawn up. Basing on the issued data sheet we develop and implement a management system for optimal energy distribution. To improve the proposed management system, we introduce a real time data acquisition (DAQ-S) and data processing (DP-S) subsystems. The DAQ-S measures all the required electrical parameters needed by the proposed DP-S to perform an optimal algorithm activating our smart decision system to allow a rational and effective use of the electrical wind power.

The main objective of this paper is to model, analyze and estimate wind energy at East region of Mohammedia and other Moroccan sites. The basic data were taken from meteorological records of each region. In this context, this work is focused on a methodological approach of a decision support system for optimal choice of wind turbine using multi-criteria model that takes into consideration both the accurate Weibull distribution in the area (wind speed-ground roughness) and the technical parameters of the wind turbine. In this approach we realized an adapted modeling of each element of the turbine (rotor-multiplier-generator). This article also offers a way to forecast wind speed in a region where wind data are not accessible using an artificial neural network.

The aim of this paper is to present a distributed algorithm for big data classification, and its application for Magnetic Resonance Images (MRI) segmentation. We choose the well-known classification method which is the c-means method. The proposed method is introduced in order to perform a cognitive program which is assigned to be implemented on a parallel and distributed machine based on mobile agents. The main idea of the proposed algorithm is to execute the c-means classification procedure by the Mobile Classification Agents (Team Workers) on different nodes on their data at the same time and provide the results to their Mobile Host Agent (Team Leader) which computes the global results and orchestrates the classification until the convergence condition is achieved and the output segmented images will be provided from the Mobile Classification Agents. The data in our case are the big data MRI image of size (m × n) which is splitted into (m × n) elementary images one per mobile classification agent to perform the classification procedure. The experimental results show that the use of the distributed architecture improves significantly the big data segmentation efficiency.

Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) play a vital role in meeting the growing demand for higher data rates and reliability in wireless systems. This study focuses on analyzing the performance of RIS systems to gain a deeper understanding of their *** paper presents a mathematical analysis of the RIS system,deriving closed-form formulae that express its characteristics including signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)distribution,ergodic and effective capacity,outage,and error probability. The obtained formulae are newly derived and unconditionally valid solutions. Numerical results demonstrate a close agreement between the derived formulae and MonteCarlo simulation outcomes.

Critical assessment of R410A alternatives for mini-split air conditioners in the Egyptian market

In this study,the potential implementation of three different low-GWP refrigerants(R32,R452B,and R454B)as replacements for R410A was *** study was performed using a simulation tool developed by the authors called RACHP-Lab,which is a vapor compression system simulation tool developed based on physics-based simulation for typical mini-split air *** simulation study was carried out and validated using experimental performance data of 10 different air conditioning units available in the Egyptian *** units included fixed-speed or variable-speed compressors and operated in cooling or heating ***-in replace-ment with the new refrigerants was carried *** R32,the capacity increased between 4.9%and 13%for cooling cases,and 6.3%and 12.4%for heating ***,COP did not improve in all *** R452B and R454B with direct replacement,the capacity nearly remained the same,with an increase of COP between 1.6%and 8.0%.Soft optimization was also conducted on cooling cases where compressor suction superheat,condenser subcooling,and compressor volumetric speed were optimized to maximize COP while maintaining the original capacity of R410A.R32 showed an improvement of COP over R410A between 4.6%and 15.5%,while for R452B and R454B between 2.2%and 13.2%.
