Co-exposure of sulfur nanoparticles and Cu alleviate Cu stress and toxicity to oilseed rape Brassica napus L.

Experimentswere performed to explore the impact of sulfur nanoparticles(SNPs)on growth,Cu accumulation,and physiological and biochemical responses of oilseed rape(Brassica napus L.)inoculated with 5 mg/L Cu-amended MS medium supplemented with or without 300 mg/L SNPs *** exerted severe phytotoxicity and inhibited plant *** application enhanced the shoot height,root length,and dry weight of shoot and root by 34.6%,282%,41.7%and 37.1%,respectively,over Cu treatment alone,while the shoot and root Cu contents and Cu-induced lipid perodixation as the malondialdehyde(MDA)levels in shoots and roots were decreased by 37.6%,35%,28.4%and 26.8%.Further,the increases in superoxide dismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD),catalase(CAT),ascorbate peroxidase(APX),glutathione reductase(GR)and glutathione S-transferase(GST)enzyme activities caused by Cu stress were mitigated in shoots(10.9%–37.1%)and roots(14.6%–35.3%)with SNPs *** also positively counteracted the negative effects on shoot K,Ca,P,Mg,Mn,Zn and Fe contents and root K,Ca,Mg and Mn contents from Cu exposure alone,and significantly promoted the nutrients accumulation in ***,in comparison with common bulk sulfur particles(BSPs)and sulfate,SNPs showed more positive effects on promoting growth in shoots(6.7%and 19.5%)and roots(10.9%and 15.1%),as well as lowering the shoot Cu content(40.1%and 43.3%)under Cu ***,SNPs application has potential to be a green and sustainable technology for increasing plant productivity and reducing accumulation of toxic metals in heavy metal polluted soils.

Malnutrition is a highly prevalent and under recognized condition in developing countries of South *** presence of malnutrition causes a severe impact on patients with liver *** etiology of cirrhosis differs in the South Asian region compared to the West,with hepatitis B and C still being the leading causes and the prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease increasing over *** malnutrition worsens outcomes for cirrhosis *** attention to address malnutrition is needed to improve patient *** etiology and pathophysiology of malnutrition in liver diseases is multifactorial,as reduction in liver function affects both macronutrients and micronutrients.A need for nutritional status assessment for liver disease patients exists in all parts of the *** are many widely studied tools in use to perform a thorough nutritional assessment,of which some tools are low cost and do not require extensive *** tools can be studied and evaluated for use in the resource limited setting of a country like *** guidelines for proper nutrition maintenance in chronic liver disease exist for all parts of the world,but the knowledge and practice of nutritional counseling in Pakistan is poor,both amongst patients and *** on assessment for nutritional status at the initial visit with recording of vital signs is ***,treating physicians need to be made aware of the misconceptions surrounding nutritional restrictions in cirrhosis so that patient education is done correctly based on proper scientific evidence.

T Regulatory Cells and BCG as a Vaccine against Tuberculosis: An Overview

Bacille Calmette Guerin (BCG), which has been used since 1921 as the only vaccine against tuber-culosis (TB), protects poorly, if at all, against pulmonary tuberculosis among adults in high incident developing countries. This failure has been attributed to the possible down modulating action of T regulatory cells (Tregs), which can be stimulated by environmental mycobacteria and expanded by BCG vaccination. Tregs induced at the site of BCG vaccination may interfere with protection against tuberculosis. This communication describes the contribution of Tregs towards dampening the efficacy of BCG and plausible approaches to countering this down modulating effect of Tregs. Probably, antigen specific inhibition of the local recruitment of Tregs whilst avoiding generalised disturbance of immune homeostasis could prove to be worthwhile. Alternatively, drugs with short half life may achieve more acceptable transient inhibition of Tregs function than the prolonged action of monoclonal antibodies. Evolving novel safe strategies is a challenge for developing a better anti TB vaccine.

The present communication offers a method to determine an unknown discrete probability distribution with specified Tsallis entropy close to uniform distribution. The relative error of the distribution obtained has been compared with the distribution obtained with the help of mathematica software. The applications of the proposed algorithm with respect to Tsallis source coding, Huffman coding and cross entropy optimization principles have been provided.

In the present communication, we have obtained the optimum probability distribution with which the messages should be delivered so that the average redundancy of the source is minimized. Here, we have taken the case of various generalized mean codeword lengths. Moreover, the upper bound to these codeword lengths has been found for the case of Huffman encoding.

This review presents the justification of research into heavy metals and clean-up technologies with particular emphasis on phytoremediation of heavy metals contaminated soils. The generating sectors and heavy metal contaminant contributors are reviewed alongside likely types. The new paradigm by researchers in response to negative impacts of various clean-up methodologies has been discussed. This work reports limitations and prospects of phytoremediation in view of the future direction and reviewed issues with bioavaliability, mobility, and response by plants to heavy metals in their environment. It reviews various plants used in phytoremediation of heavy metals and level of success recorded by teeming researchers. Diverse options available for optimization of this relatively novel technique to enhance performance have been elaborated. Suggestions for responsible abandonment of emitting sites and facilities, safety issues and appropriate disposal and management methods for plants used in this technology have been documented.

酸性电解水是一种具有优良杀菌性能的创新产品,已广泛应用于食品、炊具等领域的消毒以及植物病害的防治中。硅是地壳中第二大常见元素,硅作为一种重要元素在植物生长中起着重要作用。大量研究表明,硅可以降低植物的非生物性（金属毒性等）和生物胁迫,并能有效地提高植物的抗病性。本研究探讨了酸电解水配制有机硅肥在大田生产过程中的可行性、硅素在番茄中的迁移特性,研究了喷施酸性电解水配制有机硅肥对番茄样品硅含量的影响,研究了番茄抗病性和重金属（Cr、CD、Pb）含量的变化。大田试验分为三个部分:（1）酸电解水配制有机硅肥的可行性研究,包括是否能有效的提高番茄的硅含量,以及是否仍然具有较好的杀菌特性;（2）硅的迁移特性研究,验证硅素是否能有效的从老叶中转运到新叶中;（3）在优化的喷施措施下,通过喷施酸电解水配制的有机硅肥对番茄抗病性和重金属含量的影响。结果表明,在番茄上喷AC-EW配制的有机硅,在保持较高杀菌效果的同时,能有效促进Si的吸收。在Si+AC-EW的应用下,如果只处理一次,下部叶片中硅含量明显高于上、中叶,植株叶片中硅含量显著提高79.4%。从研究结果看,硅元素在番茄中的二次转运性不强,不易从老叶片中转运到新叶片中,这就要求在番茄的生产过程中打顶（短尖）后需要再喷施一次酸性电解水配制的有机硅,以保证整株番茄都具有较好的硅含量。在T250.8%和T3 66.0%下施施时,番茄叶片中Si含量较低。与对照相比,Si+AC-EW处理的番茄叶片的病斑发生最轻。番茄Cd显著降低24.3%,Cr明显降低24.9%,Pb也比对照降低42.5%。总之,酸性电解质水中溶解有机硅肥的施用能有效促进硅的吸收,硅在番茄中的二次运移能力较差。因此,建议在番茄生产过程中,用酸性电解水喷有机硅3次,种植后第一周喷施一次,定植4周后喷施一次,打顶（短尖）后喷施第三次。喷施酸性电解水配制的有机硅与仅喷施直接用普通水溶解的有机硅肥或酸性电解水相比,能有效的提高作物抗病性、增加作物的硅含量、降低重金属含量。

In this paper measurement of real part of permittivity and loss tangent of (1-x) ***3 (ZMT) material in powder form in S-band of microwave frequencies is presented and the associated accuracy estimated. This approach is based on the measurement of transmitted power from the cavity at and off resonance. Details of the design and fabrication of the rectangular cavity and the input and output coupling are given. The variation of dielectric properties of (1-x) ***3 (ZMT) with x-value and calcination temperature (for x = 0.1) is presented. The effect of doping of V2O5 is also studied. The results of present work may provide useful design guidelines for development of microwave compo-nents including dielectric resonator antennas.
