Assessment of the performance of the TOPGNSS and ANN-MB antennas for ionospheric measurements using low-cost u-blox GNSS receivers

Low-cost GNSS receivers have recently been gaining reliability as good candidates for ionospheric studies. In line with these gains are genuine concerns about improving the performance of these receivers. In this work, we present a comprehensive investigation of the performances of two antennas(the u-blox ANN-MB and the TOPGNSS TOP-106) used on a low-cost GNSS receiver known as the u-blox ZED-F9P. The two antennas were installed on two identical and co-located u-blox receivers. Data used from both receivers cover the period from January to June 2022. Results from the study indicate that the signal strengths are dominantly greater for the receiver with the TOPGNSS antenna than for the receiver with the ANN-MB antenna, implying that the TOPGNSS antenna is better than the ANN-MB antenna in terms of providing greater signal strengths. Summarily, the TOPGNSS antenna also performed better in minimizing the occurrence of cycle slips on phase TEC measurements. There are no conspicuous differences between the variances(computed as 5-min standard deviations) of phase TEC measurements for the two antennas, except for a period around May-June when the TOPGNSS gave a better performance in terms of minimizing the variances in phase TEC. Remarkably, the ANN-MB antenna gave a better performance than the TOPGNSS antenna in terms of minimizing the variances in pseudorange TEC for some satellite observations. For precise horizontal(North and East) positioning, the receiver with the TOPGNSS antenna gave better results, while the receiver with the ANN-MB antenna gave better vertical(Up) positioning. The errors for the receivers of both antennas are typically within about 5 m(the monthly mean was usually smaller than 1 m) in the horizontal direction and within about 10 m(the monthly mean was usually smaller than 4 m) in the vertical direction.

Relativistic treatment of the spin-zero particles subject to the second Pschl Teller-like potential

The three-dimensional Klein-Gordon equation is solved for the case of equal vector and scalar second Poschl-Teller potential by proper approximation of the centrifugal term within the framework of the asymptotic iteration method. Energy eigenvalues and the corresponding wave function are obtained analytically. Eigenvalues are computed numerically for some values of n and It is found that the results are in good agreement with the findings of other methods for short-range potential.

Anti-Corrosion and Tribo-Mechanical Properties of Co-deposited Zn–SnO_2 Composite Coating

Zn-SnO2 composite coatings were prepared by direct potential using electrolytic co-deposition technique from sulfate solution. The effect of Zn2＋ and SnO2 concentrations in deposited bath on the mechanical properties and mor- phological characteristics of the composite coatings were examined. The characterizations of the sample were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy couple with energy dispersive spectroscopy （SEM/EDS）, X-ray diffraction （XRD） and atomic force microscopy （AFM）. The electrochemical degradation behavior of the samples in 3.65 wt.% NaCl solution was studied using potentiodynamic polarization technique and characterized by high-resolution optical microscope. From all the fabricated composite coatings, obvious diffraction peaks were observed with Zn-7Sn-S-0.3V film with Zn2Sn7, Sn, Zn2Sn5 and Zn phases, confirming the presence and formation of Zn-SnO2 coating. The XRD pattern shows that the presences of SnO2 particle remarkably play a major role in the precipitation and orientation of the alloy matrix. From the SEM/EDS and AFM results, the deposits show that composite particle and proper bath composition have strong influence on the microstructure. An enhanced corrosion resistance was attained as a result of the induced particles.

Assessment of GNSS zenith tropospheric delay responses to atmospheric variables derived from ERA5 data over Nigeria

Tropospheric delay is a major error caused by atmospheric refraction in Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)*** study evaluates the potential of the European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecast(ECMWF)Reanalysis 5(ERA5)atmospheric variables in estimating the Zenith Tropospheric Delay(ZTD).Linear regression models(LRM)are applied to estimate ZTD with the ERA5 atmospheric *** ZTD are also estimated using standard ZTD models based on ERA5 and Global Pressure and Temperature 3(GPT3)atmospheric *** ZTD estimates are evaluated using the data collected from the permanent GNSS continuously operating reference stations in the Nigerian *** results reveal that the Zenith Hydrostatic Delay(ZHD)from the LRM and the Saastamoinien model using ERA5 surface pressure are of identical accuracy,having a Root Mean Square(RMS)error of 2.3 mm while the GPT3-ZHD has an RMS of 3.4 *** the Zenith Wet Delay(ZWD)component,the best estimates are derived using ERA5 Precipitable Water Vapour(PWV).These include the ZWD derived by the LRM having an average RMS of 20.9 mm and Bevis equation having RMS of 21.1 mm and 21.0 mm for global and local weighted mean temperatures,*** evaluation of GPT3-ZWD estimates gives RMS of 45.8 *** study has provided a valuable insight into the application of ERA5 data for ZTD *** line with the fndings of the study,the ERA5 atmospheric variables are recommended for improving the accuracy in ZTD estimation,required for GNSS positioning.

Transmission dynamics of onchocerciasis with two classes of infection and saturated treatment function

A mathematical model describing the epidemic interactions between humans and blackflies in the transmission of onchocerciasis is *** this model,the onchocerciasis infected human individuals are divided into two classes of infected humans with high and low microfilarial output incorporating saturated treatment function,which caters for high saturation of onchocerciasis *** analyze the model feasible region and obtain the basic reproduction number(R_(hb))using the next generation matrix ***,we obtain the onchocerciasis-free and onchocerciasis endemic equilibrium solutions and show that if R_(hb) is less than unity,the onchocerciasis-free equilibrium is locally and globally asymptotically ***,we employed a Lyapunov function to analyze the global asymptotic stability of the onchocerciasis—endemic equilibrium whenever Rhb is greater than *** addition,data on mass drug distribution of ivermectin drug to combat onchocerciasis prevalence in Ekiti state of Nigeria were fitted to the *** results reveal that consistent annual or bi-annual distribution of ivermectin drug in the region is effective in reducing the disease *** simulations also show that public health control measures are needed to minimize infectious contact between humans and blackflies which leads to onchocerciasis infections and visual blindness.

Characterization of shear stresses in nickel-based superalloy Mar-M247 when orthogonal machining with coated carbide tools

Mar-M247 is a nickel-based alloy which is well known as difficult-to-machine material due to its characteristics of high strength, poor thermal diffusion and work hardening. Calculation of shear stress by an analytical force model to indicate the effect of coating material, cutting speed, feed rate on tool life and surface roughness was conducted experimentally. Cutting tests were performed using round inserts, with cutting speeds ranging from 50 to 300 rn/min, and feed rates from 0.1 to 0.4 mm/tooth, without using cooling liquids. The behavior of the TiN and TiCN layers using various cutting conditions was analyzed with orthogonal machining force model. Cutting results indicate that different coated tools, together with cutting variables, play a significant role in determining the machinability when milling Mar-M247.
