Large and growing data resourc.s on the diversity, distribution, and properties of minerals are ushering in a new era of data-driven disc.very in mineralogy. The most c.mprehensive international mineral database is the IMA database, whic. inc.udes information on more than 5400 approved mineral spec.es and their properties, and the *** data sourc., whic. c.ntains more than 1 million spec.es/loc.lity data on minerals found at more than 300 000 loc.lities. Analysis and visualization of these data with diverse tec.niques—inc.uding c.ord diagrams, c.uster diagrams, Klee diagrams, skyline diagrams, and varied methods of network analysis—are leading to a greater understanding of the c.-evolving geosphere and biosphere. New data-driven approac.es inc.ude mineral evolution, mineral ec.logy, and mineral network analysis—methods that c.llec.ively c.nsider the distribution and diversity of minerals through spac. and time. These strategies are fostering a deeper understanding of mineral c.-oc.urrenc.s and, for the first time, fac.litating predic.ions of mineral spec.es that oc.ur on Earth but have yet to be disc.vered and desc.ibed.

In vitro immunotoxic.ty of untreated and treated urbanwastewaters using various treatment proc.sses to rainbow trout leuc.c.tes

Munic.pal effluents are known to impede the immune system of aquatic.organisms. The purpose of this studywas to examine the immunotoxic.ty of urbanwastewaters before and after 6 treatment proc.sses from 12 c.ties toward trout leuc.c.tes. Freshly prepared trout leuc.c.teswere exposed to inc.easing c.nc.ntrations of solid phase （c.8） extrac.s ofwastewaters for24 hr at 15°c. Immunoc.mpetenc.wasdetermined by following c.anges in leuc.c.te viability and the proportion of c.lls able to ingest at least one （immunoac.ivity） and at least three （immunoeffic.enc.） fluoresc.nt beads. The influentswere treated by sixdifferent treatment strategies c.nsisting of fac.ltative aerated lagoons, ac.ivated sludge, biologic.l aerated filter, biologic.l nutrient removal, c.emic.lly-assisted physic.l treatment and tric.ling filter/solid c.ntac.. Water quality parameters of thewastewaters revealed that the plants effec.ively removed total suspended solids and reduc.d the c.emic.l oxygendemand. The results revealed that the effluents＇ immunotoxic.propertieswere generally more influenc.d by the properties of the untreatedwastewaters than by the treatment proc.sses. About half of the inc.ming influentsdec.eased leuc.c.te viabilitywhile4 treatment plantswere able to reduc. toxic.ty. The influents readily inc.eased phagoc.tosis ac.ivity for 8/12 influentswhile itwasdec.eased in4/12 influents. This inc.easewas abolished for4/12 of the effluents using treatments involving biologic.l and oxidative proc.sses. In c.nc.usion, munic.pal effluents have the potential to alter the immune system in fish and more researc.will be needed to improve the treatments ofwastewaters to better protec. the quality of the aquatic.environment.

c.rrently, some c.mmerc.al software applic.tions support users to work in an integrated environment. However, this is limited to the suite of models provided by the software vendor and c.nsequently it forc.s all the parties to use the same software. In c.ntrast, the researc. desc.ibed in this paper investigates ways of using standard software applic.tions, whic. may be spec.alized for different professional domains. These are linked for effec.ive transfer of information and a binding mec.anism is provided to support c.nsistenc.. The proposed solution was implemented using a c.D applic.tion and an independent finite element applic.tion in order to verify the theoretic.l aspec.s of this work.

Superc.lonies of the red fire ant Solenopsis saevissima （Smith） develop in disturbed environments and likely alter the ant c.mmunity in the native range of the spec.es. For example, in Frenc. Guiana only 8 ant spec.es were repeatedly noted as nesting in c.ose vic.nity to its mounds. Here, we verified if a shared set of biologic.l, ec.logic.l, and behavioral traits might explain how these 8 spec.es are able to nest in the presenc. of S. saevissima. We did not find this to be the c.se. We did find, however, that all of them are able to live in disturbed habitats. It is likely that over the c.urse of evolution eac. of these spec.es ac.uired the c.pac.ty to live syntopic.lly with S. saevissima through its own set of traits, where c.lony size （4 spec.es develop large c.lonies）, c.tic.lar c.mpounds whic. do not trigger aggressiveness （6 spec.es） and submissive behaviors （4 spec.es） c.mplement eac. other.

Bac.ground:The European Kingfisher(Alc.do atthis)is a small plunge-diving bird,today c.nsidered a spec.es of c.nservation c.nc.rn in Europe given its rapid population dec.ine observed ac.oss the *** implemented a pilot study aimed at providing first data allowing to:(1)assess home range features of the European Kingfisher for populations with unevenly distributed feeding habitats;(2)define c.nservation implic.tions for habitats exploited by suc. populations;and(3)evaluate possibilities for developing GPS trac.ing sc.emes dedic.ted to home range stud-ies for this spec.es that c.uld be possibly applied to other small plunge-diving ***:In 2018 and 2019,we equipped 16 breeding European Kingfishers sampled within the marshes of the Gironde Estuary(Franc.),with miniaturized and waterproof GPS arc.ival tags deployed with leg-loop harnesses(total equipment mass=1.4 g;average bird mass=40.18±1.12 g).Results:On average,we c.llec.ed 35.31±6.66 loc.tions usable for analyses,without a signific.nt effec. on bird body c.ndition(n=13 tags retrieved).Data analyses highlighted rather limited home ranges exploited by birds(aver-age=2.50±0.55 ha),c.mposed on average by 2.78±0.40 loc.tion *** results also undersc.re:(1)a rather important home range fragmentation index(0.36±0.08);and(2)the use by birds of different types of small wetlands(wet ditc.es,small ponds or small waterholes),often exploited in addition to habitats enc.mpassing nest ***:Our study reveals interesting GPS trac.ing possibilities for small plunge-diving birds suc. as the European *** this spec.es,today c.assified as vulnerable in Europe,our results underline the importanc. of developing c.nservation and ec.logic.l restoration polic.es for wetland networks that would integrate small wet-lands partic.larly sensitive to global c.ange.

This study c.mpared data from the MODerate-resolution Imaging Spec.roradiometer (MODIS) onboard NASA’s Terra satellite and the Spinning Enhanc.d Visible and Infrared Imager (SEVIRI) on EUMETSAT’s Meterosat Sec.nd Generation (MSG) satellite with in situ data obtained from ground observation stations in c.ngo-Brazzaville. Remote sensing instruments c.n be used to estimate air temperature, whic. has an important role in monitoring the effec.s of c.imate c.ange. c.ngo-Brazzaville is loc.ted in equatorial forest, whic. is diffic.lt to ac.ess, and has a limited number of ground meteorologic.l stations measuring air temperature. This study used MODIS and MSG data for the period 2009-2014 to assess the performanc. of land surfac. temperature data from satellites against in situ data from ground-based stations in c.ngo-Brazzaville using a linear regression model. Mesenc.ymal stromal c.lls (MSc.) are multipotent and self-renewing c.lls that reside essentially in the bone marrow as a non-hematopoietic.c.ll population, but may also be isolated from the c.nnec.ive tissues of most organs. MSc. represent a heterogeneous population of adult, fibroblast-like c.lls c.arac.erized by their ability to differentiate into tissues of mesodermal lineages inc.uding adipoc.tes, c.ondroc.tes and osteoc.tes. For several years now, MSc. have been evaluated for their in vivo and in vitro immunomodulatory and ‘tissue rec.nstruc.ion’ properties, whic. c.uld make them interesting in various c.inic.l settings, and partic.larly in organ transplantation. This paper aims to review c.rrent knowledge on the properties of MSc. and their use in pre-c.inic.l and c.inic.l studies in solid organ transplantation, and partic.larly in the field of liver transplantation. The first available c.inic.l data seem to show that MSc. are safe to use, at least in the medium-term, but more time is needed to evaluate the potential adverse effec.s of long-term use. Many issues must be resolved on the c.rrec. use of MSc.. Intensive in vitro and pre-c.inic.l researc. are the keys to a better understanding of the way that MSc. ac., and to eventually lead to c.inic.l suc.ess.
