Surveillance of adverse events following H1n1/09 influenza immunisation in Victoria, Australia

BACKGROUnD: The H1n1 pandemic in 2009 required a systematic coordinated response, which in Australia included a monovalent (H1n1/09) vaccine (Panvax?). SAEFVIC (Surveillance of Adverse Events Following Vaccination In the Community) is the Victorian, Australia state-based vaccine safety unit. The aim of the study was to review SAEFVIC reports of adverse events following immunisations (AEFI) temporally associated with H1n1/09 vaccines [monovalent and Trivalent Influenza Vaccines (TIV)]. METHODS: 1) Analysis of AEFI related to H1n1/09 vaccines reported to SAEFVIC from September 2009 to December 2010;2) Review of febrile convulsions (ICD-10 code R56.0), in children under 5 years of age presenting to the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Melbourne, Emergency Department between 1 March-30 April 2010. The presentation details and immunisation history were clarified by a telephone interview. RESULTS: 1) There were 659 reports of 749 adverse events following H1n1 vaccines. Among the TIV group, Fluvax had the most AEFI reported, with 77 per 100,000 doses distributed. Serious AEFI temporally associated with H1n1/09 vaccines included: 3 deaths, 2 anaphylactic reactions, and 3 GuillainBarre Syndrome. There were 7 reports of drug administration error;2) There were 179 presentations with fever and 67 reported febrile convulsions out of 11025 presentations (0.61%), 11 following H1n1 vaccines. Fluvax? was associated with 55% (6/11) reports. The mean onset time of AEFI was 13.2 hours post vaccination, and there was complete resolution of symptoms in allcases with no significant morbidity. COnCLUSIOn: Consistent with other Australian states in 2010, there was a TIV brand specific [Fluvax?] increase in febrile convulsions post vaccination. As a result this vaccine is no longer licensed for children nsive passive and active surveillance for AEFI needs to be incorporated into future pandemic planning.

Purpose: Hawaii had the highest incidence of liver cancer in the US and had a unique patient population with many immigrants from the Pacific and Asia where Hepatitis B virus (HBV) was endemic. HBV screening in high risk populations was a recommended measure of preventative medicine, thus we sought to examine physician screening patterns for HBV in Hawaii. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed billing claims from 1999 to 2009 from the largest healthcare coverage provider in the state of Hawaii. We identified all patients (>18 years) who underwent HBV screening based on Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) billing codes. We collected data on age, gender and specialty of physicians ordering the screening tests. Analysis was done in 2013 and 2014. Results: Of an estimated 700,000 covered lives, 125,576 patients underwent HBV screening. We stratified the patients into two eras from 1999-2004 (n = 52,245) and 2005-2009 (n = 73,331) to examine temporal trends. In the first era, 30,975 women (59.3%) underwent HBV screening, compared to 49,950 women (69.1%) screened in the 2005-2009 era. There absolute number of tests increased, but the proportion done by primary care MDs decreased from 55.6% to 44.9%. OB/GYn screened 15.6% in the early era and 26.9% in later era. Conclusions: There was an increase in women aged 18 - 40 years screened in the 2005-2009 era compared to 1999-2004, most likely due to OB/GYn physicians’ screening of prenatal women. Physician education on HBV vaccination/treatment or appropriate referral should include OB/GYn as well as primary care physicians.

The p-n junction Gan diodes were all fabricated by sputtering technique with cermet targets for p- and n-type Gan and metal targets for electrodes. The interface of these p-n junction Gan diodes examined by high-resolution.transition electron microscopy was clear and distinguishable. Lattice images identified the complete dissolution of Mg into the Ga site. At the room temperature, the diode had the turn-on voltage of 2.2 V, the leakage current of 2.2 × 10–7 A, the breakdown voltage of –6 V, the barrier height of 0.56 eV, ideality factor of 5.0 by I (current)-V (voltage) test and 5.2 derived from the Cheungs’ method, and series resistance of 560 Ω. These electrical properties were investigated at different testing temperatures from room temperature to 200°C. The temperature dependence in the I-V characteristics of the p-n diodes can be successfully explained on the basis of thermionic-emission mode.

目的构建载有自体骨骼间充质干细胞（MSCs）的聚ε-己内酯（PCL）／明胶补片，观察其对大鼠肛门括约肌损伤的修复作用。方法制备Wistar大鼠肛门括约肌损伤模型，分为3组：A组不做处理，B组直接缝合，C组外科缝合＋富含MSCs的PCL／明胶补片。术后30d评估肛门括约肌收缩能力，观察肛管及下端直肠组织形态学改变。结果MSC均匀分布于PCL／明胶支架，MSCs特异性抗原（81．5±7．1）％CD45＋，（97．6±1．6）％CD90＋，（85．3±5．1）％CD44-，（95．4±1．5）％CD34-，MSCs未发生表型改变；细胞生长较常规方法缓慢[（0．27±0．25）×10^4比（5．12±0．48）×10^4，P〈0．05）。组织学观察C组新生的括约肌区域胶原沉积较少，并有明显的新生血管形成。结论联合MSC-PCL／明胶补片修补肛门括约肌损伤，具有减少瘢痕和促进组织血管生成的作用。

Cassava peel has a lot of nutrients which can be utilized as fertilizer in agriculture. However, high cellulose contents may cause difficulty for organic digestion and slow down the nutrient absorption for plants. This study aims to reach the microorganisms or their combination for biodegradating the cassava peel waste. The initial result shows that after 21 days the glucose concentration in all samples was the highest during experiment times. The reducing glucose produced in mg/mL by the selected bacteria was 9.32, higher than the selected fungie of 1.57 mg/mL. The percentage degradation of cassava peel weigh was the highest for fungi which was 52% of weigh, respectively. Meanwhile, bacteria only degradated about 31.6% after 4 weeks. However, the combination between bacteria and fungi provides the highest glucose concentration, 19.29 mg/mL and digests 62% of the mass cassava in experiment. This study suggests that biodegradation of agro-wastes in the environment to reduce biomass waste pollution is very promising.

Applied Biofloc Technology for Target Species in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam： A Review

BFT （Biofloc Technology） has been currently applied in Cantho University to a number of targeted species from fresh-to marine and saline water species in the Mekong Delta, e.g. striped catfish （Pangasianodon hypophthalmus）, white leg shrimp （Litopenaeus vannamei）, tiger shrimp （Penaeus monodon） and Artemia Vinhchau strain （Artemia franciscana） for both in the lab-scales or production scales. The best growth and survival rate of striped catfish was obtained in 6%o. For white leg shrimp, the results indicated：（1） C （Carbon） source e.g. rice-flour or molasses supplementary based on the feed provided to promote survival, growth and shrimp biomass harvested; （2） it was fed less than 20% as usual but showed similar to those in the control; （3） combination of rice-flour and molasses at a ratio of 70：30 by weight of C and n （nitrogen） in a ration of 15：1 enhanced shrimp survival and growth; （4） in intensive culture, shrimp could be against the infection of disease and end up with higher survival, growth in earthen ponds. For tiger shrimp, a set up for larvae till post larvae at different ratios of C and n and C：n of 30 PLI5 displayed with better survival rate （49.73 ± 7.07%） and production （74,596 ± 10.608 PL/m3）. Artemiafranciscana was set up at C：n = 10：1 and salinities from 35, 60, 80 and 100 ppt. After two weeks, there were no significant difference among treatment and the control （without biofloc） in term of survival and growth. Moreover, total embryos per female was not significant different with the control and even the number of embryos as cysts tended to be higher. BFT displayed its advantages when applied on culture system of different targeted species and there is no doubt that it could help to sustain aquaculture and save environment in the Mekong Delta in near future.

This paper studies the influence factors of atoms number (N) at temperature (T) and after annealing time (t) on the structure shape and the plastic deformation of Polyethylene Cnormal;">2Hnormal;">4 (PE) by the Molecular Dynamics (MD) method with Dreading pair interaction, cyclic boundary conditions and plastic deformation of Polyethylene (PE) be done by stretching method according to the z-axis. The results of structure, plastic deformation of PE are analyzed through size (l), the total energy of the system (Enormal;">tot), shape and associated energy (Enormal;">bond), angular binding energy (Enormal;">angle), energy Enormal;">dihedral, interactive energy Vander Walls (Enormal;">non-bonding). When increasing N, t leads to the number of structural units of Face-Centred Cubic (FCC), Body-Centered Cubic (BCC) and Hexagonal Close-Packed (HCP) increasing, but Amorphous (Amor) decreases while the angle between the atoms is a constant corresponding to 109.5°. Besides, the length of the link (r) increases from r = 1.529 Å to r = 1.558 Å while the plastic deformation energy of PE gets an enormous change and the bonding angle at 109.27°. The length of the link r = 1.529 Ån style="white-space:normal;"> and the size (l) of the PE material increase from l = 3.7

Objective:To characterize viral co-infections among representative hospitalized measles cases during the 2014 Hanoi ***:Throat swabs were collected from 54 pediatric patients with confirmed measles,and molecular diagnostics performed for 10 additional viral respiratory pathogens(Influenza A/H1n1pdm09;A/H3n2 and influenza B;Parainfluenza 1,2,3;Respiratory Synctial Virus,RSV;human Metapneumovirus,hM PV;Adenovirus and Picornavirus).Results:Twenty-one cases(38.9%) showed evidence of infection with other respiratory viruses:15 samples contained measles plus one additional virus,and 6 samples contained measles plus 2 additional *** was detected as a predominant cause of co-infections(13 cases;24.1%),followed by RSV(6 cases;11.1%),A/H1n1pdm09(3 cases;5.6%),PIV3(3 cases;3.7%),Rhinovirus(3 cases;3.7%) and hM PV(1 case;1.96%).Conclusions:Viral co-infections identified from pediatric measles cases may have contributed to increased disease severity and high rate of fatal *** treatment of measles cases may require control of multiple viral respiratory pathogens.

A new ^11Be（p,d） transfer reaction experiment is performed in inverse kinematics with a radioactive11 Be beam at26.9 MeV. Three low-lying states, namely the 0＋ground state, the 2^＋ state at Ex = 3.37 MeV, and the multiplet at around 6 MeV in10 Be, are populated by this one-neutron.transfer reaction. These three states in10 Be are clearly discriminated from the -value spectrum, which is rebuilt from energies and angles of the recoil deuterons in coincidence with10 Be. A spectroscopic factor for each state is extracted by comparing the experimental differential cross sections to the theoretical calculation results using the finite range adiabatic distorted wave approximation method with different global nucleon-nucleus potentials. It is found that the newly extracted spectroscopic factors for the 0＋and 2＋states are consistent with the previous ones, but the factor for the multiplet is smaller than the value in the reference, and the possible reason is discussed.
