To the Editor,During the acute phase of epidermal necrolysis(En,including Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis),mucosal lesions involving the tracheo-bronchial tract have been reported[1,2]and approximately one in four En patients develop acute respiratory failure and require endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation(MV)support[3].Asymptomatic respiratory sequelae may be detected on pulmonary function tests after the acute phase in as much as 50%of En patients,possibly related to pulmonary lesions that occurred at the acute phase[4].

Objective: To screen Vietnamese medicinal plants for xanthine oxidase(XO) inhibitory activity and to isolate XO inhibitor(s) from the most active plant. Methods: The plants materials were extracted by methanol. The active plant materials were fractionated using different organic solvents, including n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol. Bioassay-guided fractionation and column chromatography were used to isolate compounds. The compounds structures were elucidated by analysis of spectroscopic data, including IR, MS, and nMR. Results: Three hundreds and eleven methanol extracts(CME) belonging to 301 Vietnamese herbs were screened for XO inhibitory activity. Among these plants, 57 extracts displayed XO inhibitory activity at 100 μg/m L with inhibition rates of over 50%. The extracts of Archidendron clypearia, Smilax poilanei, Linociera ramiflora and Passiflora foetida exhibited the greatest potency with IC_(50) values below 30 μg/m L. Chemical study performed on the extract of Archidendron clypearia resulted in the isolation of six compounds, including 1-octacosanol, docosenoic acid, daucosterol, methyl gallate, quercitrin and(-)-7-O-galloyltricetiflavan. The compound(-)-7-O-galloyltricetiflavan showed the most potent XO inhibitory activity with an IC_(50) value of 25.5 μmol/L. Conclusions: From this investigation, four Vietnamese medicinal plants were identified to have XO inhibitory effects with IC_(50) values of the methanol extracts below 30 μg/m L. Compound(-)-7-O-galloyltricetiflavan was identified as an XO inhibitor from Archidendron clypearia with IC_(50) value of 25.5 μmol/L.

The authors report a super low power Medical Implant Communication Service （MICS） band receiver for a high resolution epi-retinal prosthesis （BionicEye）. The frequency shift keying （FSK） receiver consumes less than 1.5 mW power with 1 V supply. It is able to achieve a maximum data rate of 400 kb/s. This paper presents the research work carried out on designing a fully-integrated sub-threshold receiver fabricated on a 65 nm complimentary metal oxide semiconductor （CMOS） chip. In order to achieve super low power consumption, more than 90% of the transistors in all analog building blocks are operated in sub-threshold region. System level issues, such as required receiver architecture and specifications are also addressed.

Effect of Fish Meal (Low Value) as a nutrient Source in Combination with Inorganic Fertilizer to Enhance the Algal Development in Fertilizer Pond

To study an application of low-value fishmeal (i.e. organic manure) and the effect of different nitrogen (n) and phosphorus (P) ratios (n/Ps) to the composition of algae prevailing in fertilized ponds for culturing Artemia. Phytoplankton composition and their abundance were determined through qualitative and quantitative sampling and analyses. The experiment included five treatments, control treatment using chicken manure (300 g/m^3), the others with fishmeal in different rates (i.e. 30 g/m^3, 60 g/m^3, 90 g/m^3, 120 g/m^3) with 3 replicates each and in a combination with inorganic fertilizer. Result indicated that the algal density of the experiment varied from 318 × 10^3 to 2,590 × 10^3 cells/mL and a significant difference among treatments (p nsity of algae at the second treatment (30 g/m^3) is the highest with a mean density of 2,590 × 10^3 cells/mL. There are 38 phytoplankton species belonging to five phyla of algae, i.e. Bacillariophyta, Cyanophyta, Chlorophyta, Dinophyta and Euglenophyta. Also, there are 18 species of Bacillariophyta, 14 species of Chlorophyta, 4 species of Cyanophyta, 1 species of Dinophyta and 1 species of Euglenophyta. Algae compositions were 32, 34, 31, 27 species at control treatment, and 30 g/m^3, 60 g/m^3, 90 g/m^3, 120 g/m^3 fishmeal treatments, respectively. The dominant genus was usually nitzschia, Thalassiosira, navicula (Bacillariophyta), Tetraselmis (Chlorophyta), Oscillatoria (Cyanophyta), Euglena (Euglenophyta). Euglena usually appeared in the late phase of the experiment.

目的应用门控^99锝^m-甲氧基异丁基异腈单电子核素扫描断层成像（^99Tc^mMIBISPECT）技术探讨心肌内直接注射富含血小板血浆（PRP）能否改善心室重构、心肌灌注及心功能。方法将30只Fisher鼠左冠状动脉前降支结扎建立心肌梗死模型后按照随机数字表随机分为实验组和对照组各15只，1周后应用门控^99Tc^mMIBISPECT显像技术检测实验组（n=11）和对照组（n=15）心肌灌注以及射血分数（EF）、左心室舒张末期容积（LVEDV）、左心室收缩末期容积（LVESV）和梗死节段数。同时实验组采用新鲜分离得到的PRP梗死心肌内注射，对照组采用0．9％生理盐水梗死心肌内注射。注射4周后再次应用门控”Tcm_MIBISPECT显像技术检测实验组和对照组各项指标。检测完毕后取鼠心脏行组织学检查。结果对照组鼠生理盐水注射后EF值呈继续下降趋势，但与注射前比较差异无统计学意义（P〉0．05）；实验组在PRP治疗4周后，EF值明显高于治疗前（F=28．76，P〈0．05）。对照组生理盐水注射后LVESV呈继续增大趋势，且与注射前比较差异有统计学意义（F=21．13，P〈0．05）。实验组PRP治疗后，LVESV呈减小趋势，但治疗前后比较差异无统计学意义（P〉0．05）；而LVEDV呈继续增加趋势，且治疗前后比较差异有统计学意义（F=38．49，P〈0．01）。实验组PRP治疗后LVESV明显低于对照组（F=20．05，P〈0．05）。对照组生理盐水注射前后，心肌灌注显示，在梗死节段^99Tc^m吸收率呈持续性下降，梗死节段绝对值增加，但无统计学意义。实验组PRP治疗后梗死节段的数量下降，与治疗前比较差异有统计学意义（F=17．08，P〈0．05），且梗死节段^99Tc^mMIBI的摄取率增加，与治疗前比较差异有统计学意义（F=19．16，P〈0．05）。组织学检查亦证实实验组经PRP治疗后梗死面积由（47±19）％降至（364-11）％，室壁厚度由（3．1±0．9）mm增至（4．6±1．8）mm（P〈0．05）。结论PRP治疗可以改善心功能，提高EF值，并且可以改善心肌梗死节段的灌注情况，但是不能改善心室重构。

The Different Expressions of Draft Cherry Tomato Growth, Yield, Quality under Bamboo and Rice Husk Biochars Application to Clay Loamy Soil

This study evaluated the different expressions of cherry tomato growth, yield and quality under bamboo and rice husk biochar applications to soil. The experiment was conducted under glasshouse conditions at Hakozaki campus, Kyushu University, Japan and consisted of 5 treatments, namely 1) no biochar application as a control;2) 2% (RH2) and 3) 5% (RH5) of rice husk biochar;4) 2% (BB2) and 5) 5% (BB5) of bamboo biochar. Bamboo biochar application significantly improved tomato growth, including number of leaves, fresh biomass yield of aboveground and underground parts for BB5;number of fruit;fresh yield from 24% - 25% for BB2 and BB5. In particular, both bamboo and rice husk biochar application at two rates 2% and 5% had positive effects on tomato quality, demonstrated by the increased total sugar content from 56% to 91%, and the enhancement of ascorbic acid content for BB2 and RH2 by 12% and 17%, respectively. Those improvements reflected the soil physiochemical property changes after biochar application, including the increase in plant available water for bamboo biochar amendment before and after cultivating by 25% - 38% and 9% - 18%, respectively, compared with those of control;and the increased total soil n for bamboo biochar treatments (11% - 14%). Generally, all data above support bamboo biochar utilization for the purpose of improving soil properties and developing crop production.

The importance and the necessary of researches on renewable energy have become a hot topic in recent years due to climate change and global warming. In addition, the fossil fuel reserves is facing rapid depletion on the earth. Currently, most researches have concentrated on producing biogas for heating, lighting, drying, cooking but lack in researching on electricity production because the possibility of producing biogas at households are common at small scale. Studying on alternative energy sources to replace traditional fuel for electric power generation brings new chances and great opportunities for development. This study presents an assessment electric power generation via water hyacinths and agricultural waste. In this paper, the evaluation electric power is generated by operating internal combustion engines which use biogas fuel to replace traditional fuel （diesel, gasoline）. The results of the studies were demonstrated by experiments on the renewable energy production system at Hoa An Biotechnology Research and Experimental Center of Cantho University.

Enhancement of Performance of Organic Light Emitting Diodes by Using Ti- and Mo-Oxide nano Hybrid Layers

nanorod-like TiO2 (nc-TiO2) and MoO3 (nc-MoO3) films were thermally grown from Ti- and Mo-metallic wafers. nanohybrid films of n,n’-diphenyl-n,n’-bis(1-naphthyl)(1,1’-biphenyl)-4,4’diamine (nPB)/TiO2 and nPB/MoO3 used as anode/hole transport layer (HTL) heterojunctions in blue organic light emission diodes (OLEDs) were prepared by coating nPB onto the nc-TiO2 and nc-MoO3 and TiO2. Characterization of the nanostructured hybrid layers showed that both the photoluminescent property and current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of the hybrid materials were significantly enhanced in comparison with the standard nPB polymer. The electroluminous efficiency of the hybrid devices was considerably enhanced in comparison with the standard device. This suggests a useful application for fabricating “reverse” OLEDs, where the emission light goes-out through the semitransparent cathode, instead of the indium tin oxide (ITO) anode. For this, the ohmic contacts of conducting wires to metallic electrodes can be made much better than to ITO anodes.

In this paper,we developed highly accurate ensemble machine learning models integrating Reduced Error Pruning Tree(REPT)as a base classifier with the Bagging(B),Decorate(D),and Random Subspace(RSS)ensemble learning techniques for spatial prediction of rainfallinduced landslides in the Uttarkashi district,located in the Himalayan range,*** do so,a total of 103 historical landslide events were linked to twelve conditioning factors for generating training and validation *** Mean Square Error(RMSE)and Area Under the receiver operating characteristic Curve(AUC)were used to evaluate the training and validation performances of the *** results showed that the single REPT model and its derived ensembles provided a satisfactory accuracy for the prediction of *** D-REPT model with RMSE=0.351 and AUC=0.907 was identified as the most accurate model,followed by RSS-REPT(RMSE=0.353 and AUC=0.898),B-REPT(RMSE=0.396 and AUC=0.876),and the single REPT model(RMSE=0.398 and AUC=0.836),*** prominent ensemble models proposed and verified in this study provide engineers and modelers with insights for development of more advanced predictive models for different landslide-susceptible areas around the world.
