Since the preparation of labeled datafor training semantic segmentation networks of pointclouds is a time-consuming process, weakly supervisedapproaches have been introduced to learn fromonly a small fraction of data. These methods aretypically based on learning with contrastive losses whileautomatically deriving per-point pseudo-labels from asparse set of user-annotated labels. In this paper, ourkey observation is that the selection of which samplesto annotate is as important as how these samplesare used for training. Thus, we introduce a methodfor weakly supervised segmentation of 3d scenes thatcombines self-training with active learning. Activelearning selects points for annotation that are likelyto result in improvements to the trained model, whileself-training makes efficient use of the user-providedlabels for learning the model. We demonstrate thatour approach leads to an effective method that providesimprovements in scene segmentation over previouswork and baselines, while requiring only a few userannotations.

BACkGROUNd Patient reported outcome measures(PROMs)can be used to assess knee function following anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)***-operatively,femoral and tibial tunnels are created to accommodate the new ACL *** is postulated that there is an optimum position and orientation of these tunnels and that outcomes from this procedure are affected by their *** To evaluate the influence of graft tunnel position on early to mid-term clinical outcomes following ACL *** Six PROMs were collected following ACL reconstruction which included the knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score(kOOS),International knee documentation Committee,Lysholm,Tegner,EuroQol-5 dimension-5 level,and Short Form 12-item Health Survey.A total of 8 radiological parameters were measured from post-operative X-rays relating to graft tunnel *** data was analysed to assess for any correlations between graft tunnel position and postoperative *** A total of 87 patients were included in the study with a mean post-operative follow-up of 2.3 years(range 1 to 7 years).Posterior position of tibial tunnel was associated with improved kOOS quality of life(rho=0.43,P=0.002)and EQ-5d VAS(rho=0.36,P=0.010).Anterior position of EndoButton femoral tunnel was associated with an improved EQ-5d index(rho=-0.38,P=0.028).There were no other significant correlations between any of the other radiological parameters and PROM *** Overall,graft tunnel position had very little correlation with clinical outcomes following ACL reconstruction.A few(posterior)tibial tunnel and(anterior)EndoButton femoral tunnel measurements were associated with better PROMs.

Low mass ratio contact binary systems are more likely to have unstable orbits and potentially *** addition,such systems exhibit characteristics such as starspots and high energy emissions (UV) suggestive of chromospheric and magnetic *** curve modeling of ten contact binary systems is *** were found to be of extreme low mass ratio ranging from 0.122 to 0.24 and three were found to be potentially unstable and possible merger *** of the infrared calcium absorption lines is a marker of increased chromospheric *** use the available Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope spectra along with matched standard spectra (broadened for rotation) to measure the excess filling of the central core depression flux of the two main infrared calcium absorption linesλ8542 andλ*** find that all reported contact binaries have excess filling of the core flux in the infrared calcium *** of the systems reported were also observed by the Galaxy Evolution Explorer mission and we find that all three have features of excess ultraviolet emissions further adding evidence for increased chromospheric activity in low mass ratio contact *** of both orbital stability and absorption line filling is dependent on the determination of geometric and absolute parameters from light curve *** an insignificant number of contact binary light curves exhibit the O’Connell effect,usually attributed to *** discuss the inclusion of starspots in light curve solutions and how they influence the geometric and absolute parameters.

The metabolite lactate (L-lactate) can be generated and released by diverse brain cells,including neurons,astrocytes,and oligodendrocytes (kann,2023;Rae et al.,2024).Lactate production usually requires the degradation of glucose (d-glucose)-and glycogen in astrocytes-to pyruvate by glycolysis and subsequent conversion of pyruvate to lactate by the enzyme lactate dehydrogenase(Figure 1A;dienel,2019;Rae et al.,2024).

We are increasingly aware that cellular metabolism plays a vital role in diseases such as cancer, and that p53 is an important regulator of metabolic pathways. By transcriptional activation and other means, p53 is able to contribute to the regulation of glycolysis, oxidative phosphorylation, glutaminolysis, insulin sensitivity, nucleotide biosynthesis, mitochondrial integrity, fatty acid oxidation, antioxidant response, autophagy and m TOR signalling. The ability to positively and negatively regulate many of these pathways, combined with feedback signalling from these pathways to p53, demonstrates the reciprocal and flexible nature of the regulation, facilitating a diverse range of responses to metabolic stress. Intriguingly, metabolic stress triggers primarily an adaptive( rather than pro-apoptotic) p53 response, and p53 is emerging as an important regulator of metabolic homeostasis. A better understanding of how p53 coordinates metabolic adaptation will facilitate the identification of novel therapeutic targets and will also illuminate the wider role of p53 in human biology.
