Tropical regions have provided new insights into how ecological communities are *** dry coastal communities,water stress has been hypothesized to determine plant assembly structure by f.voring preadapted lineages f.om neighboring ecosystems,consistent with f.nctional ***,it is unclear whether this hypothesis is suf.icient to explain how coastal communities in tropical ecosystems are ***,we test whether water stress or other f.ctors drive community assembly in woody plant communities across the coastal zone of.Brazil,a tropical *** characterized f.nctional and phylogenetic structures of.these communities and determined the underlying environmental f.ctors(e.g.,water stress,historical climate stability,edaphic constraints,and habitat heterogeneity)that drive their community *** of.coastal woody species show geographically varied patterns,including stochastic arrangements,clustering,and overdispersion of.species relative to their traits and phylogenetic *** complexity,water vapor pressure,and soil nutrient availability best explained the gradient in the f.nctional *** def.cit,water vapor pressure,and soil organic carbon were the best predictors of.variation in phylogenetic *** results support the water-stress conservatism hypothesis on f.nctional and phylogenetic structure,as well as the ef.ect of.habitat heterogeneity on f.nctional structure and edaphic constraints on f.nctional and phylogenetic *** ef.ects are associated with increased phenotypic and phylogenetic divergence of.woody plant assemblages,which is likely mediated by abiotic f.ltering and niche opportunities,suggesting a complex pattern of.ecological assembly.

Knowledge regarding the inf.uence of.individual traits on interaction patterns in nature can help understand the topological role of.individuals within a network of.intrapopulation *** tested hypotheses on the relationships between individuals'positions within networks(specialization and centrality)of.4 populations of.the mouse opossum Gracilinanus agilis and their traits(i.e.,body length,body condition,tail length relative to body length,sex,reproductive condition,and botf.y parasitism)and also seasonal ef.ects in the Brazilian *** with lower body length,better body condition,and relatively shorter tail were more specialized(i.e.,less connected within the network).Individuals were also more specialized and less connected during the warm-wet *** relationship between individuals'position in the network and body traits,however,was independent of.*** propose that specialization may arise not only as a result of.pref.rred f.ed-ing strategies by more capable individuals(i.e.,those with better body condition and potentially prone to def.nd and access high-quality f.od resources)but alsobecause of.morphological ***/younger individuals(consequently with less experience in f.raging)and short-tailed individuals(less skilled to explore the vertical strata of.the vegetation)would f.ed only on a subset of.the available f.od resources and consequently become more ***,individuals are more specialized during the warm-wet season because of.high competition(population-dense period)and higher ecological opportunities(resource-rich period).Theref.re,our study reveals the relevance of.individual traits inshaping interactionpatternsandspecialization inpopulations.

Lignin emerged around 450 million years ago in early tracheophytes and played a pivotal role in the colonization of.terrestrial ecosystems by *** aromatic biopolymer provides mechanical strength to supportive tissues and hydrophobicity to water-transporting vasculature and acts as a physical barrier against herbivores and pathogens(Renault et al.,2019).The deposition of.lignin in cell walls f.r proper cellular f.nctionalization involves several molecular steps,including the tight regulation of.tissue-or cell-type-specif.c expression of.lignin biosynthetic genes,the biosynthesis of.distinct lignin monomers and their transportation to the apoplast,and the polymerization of.monomer radicals to produce tissue-or cell-type-dependent polymers with distinct physico-chemical properties.

While large language models(LLMs)have made signif.cant strides in natural language processing(NLP),they continue to f.ce challenges in adequately addressing the intricacies of.the Chinese language in certain *** propose a f.amework called Six-Writings multimodal processing(SWMP)to enable direct integration of.Chinese NLP(CNLP)with morphological and semantic *** f.rst part of.SWMP,known as Six-Writings pictophonetic coding(SWPC),is introduced with a suitable level of.granularity f.r radicals and components,enabling ef.ective representation of.Chinese characters and *** conduct several experimental scenarios,including the f.llowing:(1)We establish an experimental database consisting of.images and SWPC f.r Chinese characters,enabling dual-mode processing and matrix generation f.r CNLP.(2)We characterize various generative modes of.Chinese words,such as thousands of.Chinese idioms,used as question-and-answer(Q&A)prompt f.nctions,f.cilitating analogies by *** experiments achieve 100%accuracy in answering all questions in the Chinese morphological data set(CA8-Mor-10177).(3)A f.ne-tuning mechanism is proposed to ref.ne word embedding results using SWPC,resulting in an average relative error of.25%f.r 39.37%of.the questions in the Chinese wOrd Similarity data set(COS960).The results demonstrate that SWMP/SWPC methods ef.ectively capture the distinctive f.atures of.Chinese and of.er a promising mechanism to enhance CNLP with better ef.iciency.

Among the impacts of.climate change,there is the intensif.cation of.phenomena such as the El Niño South-ern Oscillation(ENSO)responsible f.r El Niño and La Niñ***,understanding their ef.ects on the f.nctional pro-cesses of.f.rests is ***,this study evaluated the ef.ects of.ENSO on litter stock and water holding capac-ity(WHC)in a successional f.rest in eastern *** occurred in periods with the most rainf.ll in El Niño(2019)and least in La Niña(2021)*** permanent plots were used to sample *** ef.ects were evident f.r WHC,higher during El Niñ***,this inf.uence was not clear f.r litter,as only in the rainy season ef.ects were *** was a positive correlation of.WHC with precipitation and humidity,while litter stocks were negatively correlated with temperature and wind *** the subject of.this study requires long-term assessments,preliminary results suggests that,depending on the intensity of.ENSO,f.rest f.nctional processes can be strongly impacted and *** conclusion reinf.rces warnings by the scientif.c community about the impacts of.climate change on the maintenance of.litter stocks,decomposition and,consequently,the biogeochemical cycle and essential ecosystem services f.r the maintenance of.Amazonia *** need to develop long-term research to understand the ef.ects of.climatic change on litter stocks and water holding capacity is highlighted,especially in Amazonia.
