A comparative study on emergent pollutants photo-assisted degradation using ruthenium modified titanate nanotubes and nanowires as catalysts

Several methods have been used to tailor nanomaterials structure and ***,slight changes in the structure outcomes expressive improvements in the optical and photocatalytic properties of semiconductor *** this context,the influence of the metal doping and the morphology on a catalyst performance was studied in this ***,ruthenium doped titanate nanotubes(RuTNT)were synthesised for the first time using an amorphous Ru-containing ***,the photocatalytic performance of this sample was compared to the one obtained for ruthenium titanate nanowires(RuTNW),recently *** samples,RuTNW and RuTNT,were produced using the same Ru-containing precursor but distinct hydrothermal *** powders were structural,morphological and optical characterized by X-ray diffraction and fluorescence,transmission electron microscopy,Raman,X-ray photoelectron and photoluminescence *** variations on the structural and optical properties of the RuTNT and RuTNW nanoparticles,due to ruthenium incorporation were *** potential use as photocatalysts was evaluated on the hydroxyl radical photo-assisted *** samples were catalytic for this reaction,presenting better performances than the pristine counterparts,being RuTNT the best ***,the degradation of two emergent pollutants,caffeine and sulfamethazine,was *** demonstrated to be better photocatalyst than RuTNW for caffeine but identical performances were obtained for *** both catalysts,the degradation mechanism of the pollutants was explored through the identification and quantification of the intermediate compounds produced and several differences were *** indicates the importance of the structural and morphological aspects of a material on its catalytic performance.

Degradation of duloxetine: Identification of transformation products by UHPLc-ESI(+)-HRMS/MS,in silico toxicity and wastewater analysis

Duloxetine(DUL), an antidepressant drug, has been detected in surface water and wastewater effluents, however, there is little information on the formation of its transformation products(TPs). In this work, hydrolysis, photodegradation(UV irradiation) and chlorination experiments were performed on spiked distillated water, under controlled experimental conditions to simulate abiotic processes that can occur in the environment and wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs). Eleven TPs, nine from reaction with UV light and two from chlorine contact, were formed and detected by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled to quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry, and nine of them had their chemical structures elucidated upon analyses of their fragmentation patterns in MS/MS spectra. The formation and degradation of the TPs were observed. The parent compound was completely degraded after30 min in photodegradation and after 24 hr in chlorination. Almost all TPs were completely degraded in the experiments. The ecotoxicity and mutagenicity of the TPs were predicted based on several in silico models and it was found that a few of these products presented more ecotoxicity than DUL itself and six TPs showed positive mutagenicity. Finally, wastewater samples were analyzed and DUL and one TP, possibly formed by chlorination process, were detected in the effluent, which showed that WWTP not only did not remove DUL, but also formed a TP.

This paper describes a design of an educational platform for a mobile learning architecture, which is a state of the art topic in distance education. The product will allow users to interact in an efficient, flexible, and transparent fashion with a web-based education environment, in this case Module Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment (Moodle), using Android mobile devices. In order to provide a strong and lasting architecture, the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) methodology is used given that it allows easy software re-utilization as well as integration of heterogeneous services. The architecture is based on web services implemented with Representational State Transfer (REST), as it has been demonstrated to be lighter and less consuming than other protocols, for devices with limited resources such as mobile devices. Web services provide the communication means between the server side and the client side of the architecture, whereas agents are used to deliver the services itself. The authors propose the development of an environment that facilitates the integration of various educational resources to support m-learning. An important aspect of the proposal is the offering of a tool to provide customized alerts for students and teachers, enabling them to remain updated about activities taking place in the courses.

在浅水生态系统中,海草与红树林、珊瑚礁共同构成最富生产力的群落。在南莫桑比克的马普托海湾南部,海洋植物群落分为两类:海草类与海藻类。海草生长在隐蔽的沙质区域;而海藻生活在水流较强的石质砂岩区域。在捕鱼活动与大量捕捞海生食用无脊椎动物的影响下,生长海草的海底被严重破坏。伊尼亚卡岛沿岸,在大潮(每月15天)期间每天至少可以看到20张渔网、100个捕鱼者在从事捕鱼活动。表项研究着重于海草与海藻的生物多样性以及如何保护这些重要的生态群落。

Determining the levels of heavy metals in honey is a measure to control its quality. The objective of this study was to determine the contents of cd, cu, Pb and Zn in honey of stingless bee. The differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) was used to determine the trace elements in honey samples. Pb was detected in 100% of the samples, cu and Zn in 98.15%, and cd only in 33.33%. The trace elements analyzed detected in the samples remained within tolerable levels in foods for human consumption.

Assessment of Educational Videos on the Prevention and Management of Infant Diarrhea:Documental Study

Objective: To evaluate the suitability of educational videos produced in Brazil that addressed aspects related to prevention and/or management of infant diarrhea according to content;language;graphic illustrations;stimulation for learning/motivation and cultural fit. Method: Documentary study, which evaluated six educational videos from an adapted and validated tool, the Suitability Assessment of Materials. Three nurses evaluated the videos. Data were processed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, version 17.0, and presented in tables and graphics. Results: It was found that 4 (66.6%) of the educational videos were classified as appropriate, ranging from 60% to 63.3% of full approval, and 2 (33.3%) were assessed as higher, reaching up to 83.3% to 90% approval. considering the socioeconomic and cultural contexts of the videos to the audience, they assigned notes ranging from 6 to 9 in a rating ranging from 0, the minimum score, to 10, the highest score. conclusion: The educational videos were considered adequate, with positive results about the content on the prevention and management of infant diarrhea, being appropriate for the target audience. As a result, greater credibility is ratified as the use thereof, since these resources can contribute to health promotion and prevention of diarrhea in children.
