Identification of genes involved in the formation of soluble dietary fiber in winter rye grain and their expression in cultivars with different viscosities of wholemeal water extract

The grain of rye(Secale cereale L.) used for baking contains a large amount of non-starch polysaccharides,making it an excellent component of functional foods. But rye grain intended for alcohol production and forage use should have a reduced content of these polysaccharides. A comprehensive parameter that can predict the best field of application for winter rye grain is the viscosity of its wholemeal water ***, our understanding of the genetic background underlying this key trait and associated features of rye grain is poor. By analyzing six Russian winter rye cultivars, we identified the most contrasting forms and characterized the peculiarities of their water-soluble carbohydrates capable of influencing the viscosity of water extracts. Then, using phylogenetic and transcriptomic analyses, we identified in the rye genome many genes encoding putative glycosyltransferases and glycosylhydrolases responsible for the synthesis and degradation of arabinoxylans, mixed-linkage glucans, cellulose, and some other polysaccharides. We determined the dynamics of m RnA abundance for these genes at three stages of kernel development. Comparisons of gene expression levels in two contrasting cultivars revealed specific members of multigene families that may serve as promising targets for manipulating non-starch polysaccharide content in rye grain. High-viscosity cultivars were characterized by up-regulation of many glycosyltransferases involved in the biosynthesis of arabinoxylans and other cell-wall polysaccharides,whereas low-viscosity cultivars showed up-regulation of several genes encoding polysaccharidedegrading enzymes.

The glacial history of Pico de Orizaba indicates that during the Last glacial Maximum,its icecap covered up to~3000 m asl;due to the air temperature increasing,its main glacier has retreated to 5050 m *** retraction of the glacier has left behind an intense climatic instability that causes a high frequency of freeze-thaw cycles of great intensity;the resulting geomorphological processes are represented by the fragmentation of the bedrock that occupies the upper parts of the *** is a notable lack of studies regarding the fragmentation and erosion occurring in tropical high mountains,and the associated geomorphological risks;for this reason,as a first stage of future continuous research,this study analyzes the freezing and thawing cycles that occur above 4000 m asl,through continuous monitoring of surface ground *** results allow us to identify and characterize four zones:glacial,paraglacial,periglacial and *** was found that the paraglacial zone presents an intense drop of temperature,of up to~9℃ in only sixty *** rock fatigue and intense freeze-thaw cycles that occur in this area are responsible for the high rate of rock disintegration and represent the main factor of the constant slope dynamics that occur at the *** activity decreases,both in frequency and intensity,according to the distance to the glacier,which is where the temperature presents a certain degree of stability,until reaching the proglacial zone,where cycles are almost non-existent,and therefore there is no gelifraction *** geomorphological processes have resulted in significant alterations to the mountain slopes,which can have severe consequences in terms of risk and water.

Industrial and agricultural activities lead to the release of rare earth elements(REEs)in wastewater and aquatic ecosystems,and their accumulation in ***,the behavior of REEs in soils remains somewhat *** the present work the fractionation and fixation of REEs in soddy-podzolic and chernozem soils spiked with La,Ce,and nd chlorides were studied using dynamic(continuous flow)extraction,which allows natural conditions to be mimicked and artefacts to be *** eluents applied are aimed to dissolve exchangeable,specifically sorbed,bound to Mn oxides,bound to metal-organic complexes,and bound to amorphous and poorly ordered Fe/Al oxides fractions extractable by 0.05 mol/L Ca(nO_(3))2,0.43 mol/L CH_(3)COOH,0.1 mol/L nH_(2)OH·HCl,0.1 mol/L K_(4)P_(2)O_(7) at pH 11,and 0.1 mol/L(nH4)_(2)C_(2)O_(4) at pH 3.2,*** is found that the fixations of added La,Ce,and nd in the form of metal-organic complexes is predominant for both types of soils:35%-38%in soddy-podzolic soil and 50%-79%in *** fixation of added elements in the first three fractions(exchangeable,specifically sorbed,and bound to Mn oxides)is significant for soddy-podzolic soil(5%-25%).For chernozem,the relative contents of added Ce and nd in these fractions are nearly *** the content of exchangeable La is notable,about 5%.Adding any of three elements(La,Ce,or nd)at the level of100 mg/kg to an initial sample results in changing the fractionation and bioaccessibility of other REEs present in *** contents increase in the first three fractions and decrease in fifth(oxalate extractable)fraction for both soddy-podzolic soil and *** main difference is the behavior of REEs in pyrophosphate extractable *** soddy-podzolic soil,adding La,Ce,or nd results in decreasing the contents of other REEs associated with organic *** chernozem,on the contrary,the contents of REEs in the form of metal-organic complexes slightly *** processes

The Effectiveness of the Havriliak-negami Model in Predicting the Master Curves of the Asphalt Blends with SBS Triblock Copolymer and Organic-Montmorillonite at Different Temperatures and Frequencies

The dynamic viscoelastic properties of asphalt AC-20 and its composites with Organic-Montmorillonite clay (OMMt) and SBS were modeled using the empirical Havriliak-negami (Hn) model, based on linear viscoelastic theory (LvE). The Hn parameters, α, β, g0, g∞and τHn were determined by solving the Hn equation across various temperatures and frequencies. The Hn model successfully predicted the rheological behavior of the asphalt and its blends within the temperature range of 25˚C - 40˚C. However, deviations occurred between 40˚C - 75˚C, where the glass transition temperature Tg of the asphalt components and the SBS polymer are located, rendering the Hn model ineffective for predicting the dynamic viscoelastic properties of composites containing OMMt under these conditions. Yet, the prediction error of the Hn model dropped to 2.28% - 2.81% for asphalt and its mixtures at 100˚C, a temperature exceeding the Tg values of both polymer and asphalt, where the mixtures exhibited a liquid-like behavior. The exponent α and the relaxation time increased with temperature across all systems. Incorporating OMMt clay into the asphalt blends significantly enhanced the relaxation dynamics of the resulting composites.

Taxonomic Composition and Spatial Distribution of Meiofauna Community from a Sandy Intertidal Zone in Sishili Bay, Yellow Sea Coast (northern China)

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of simultaneous administration of dutasteride,tadalafil and solifenacin in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)with overactive bladder symptoms and lower urinary tract obstruction in previously unsuccessfully treated *** Patients in group A(n=97)received dutasteride 0.5 mg/day,tadalafil 2.5 mg/day,and solifenacin 2.5 mg/day;group B(n=95)received dutasteride 0.5 mg/day,tadalafil 5 mg/day,and solifenacin 5 mg/day;group C(n=103)received dutasteride 0.5 mg/day,tadalafil 20 mg/day,and solifenacin 10 mg/*** functional status of the lower urinary tract was assessed using the International Prostate Symptom Score(I-PSS),Overactive Bladder Questionnaire(OABq),International Index of Erectile Function(IIEF),and Male Sexual Health Questionnaire Ejaculatory Dysfunction(MSHQ-EjD)as well as *** The total score of the sexual function remained unchanged in group B of patients 81.3 points vs.80.2 points(p>0.05)according to MSHQ-EjD,61.4 points vs.51.2 points(p>0.05)according to IIEF *** total assessment of symptoms of hyperactivity significantly decreased in group C according to OABq data after the 4th week of the study(17.5 points vs.26.1 points,pnd remained below the baseline until the end of the study(15.2 points).Conclusions The simultaneous administration of standard doses of dutasteride,solifenacin,and tadalafil for 3 months is safe,effective,and can be recommended for patients with BPH to reduce symptoms of obstruction and hyperactivity of the bladder and maintain sexual function.
