Prediction of Melting Paths of Wollastonite-Containing Compositions

The article analyzed the main groups of thermal insulation(TIM) and slag-forming(SFM) mixtures produced by leading foreign companies: acidic ones based on the SiO2-Al2O3system, basic ones based on the Ca O-Mg O-Al2O3system and medium basic ones based on the Ca O(Mg O) system-Al2O3-SiO2. It is shown that achieving the necessary properties of the SFM and TIM requires strict observance of the mass content of the components of mixtures produced on the basis of synthetic materials in granular form with a given dispersion. Compliance with a given composition and dispersion is associated with the need to provide a given melting temperature(for intermediate ladles 1 250-1 450 °C, for molds 950-1 150 °C), neutrality to the cast metal, protection of the melt from secondary oxidation, minimization of heat loss from the melt mirror, absorption of non-metallic inclusions of various natures(Al2O3, Ca O, SiO2, TiO2, less often Mg O-containing) and sizes; as well as a number of specific requirements: compatibility with the working layer of the lining of the bucket, maintaining the work of the stoppers, minimizing harmful gaseous emissions, etc. It is known that Al2O3, TixOy, and Ca O refractory inclusions in steel cause the majority of defects on the surface of a cold-rolled sheet, therefore, the aim of the work was to analyze the physicochemical regularities and melting paths of the wollastonite-containing compositions during the assimilation of nonmetallic inclusions by them. To analyze the melting paths of the wollastonite-containing compositions in the Ca O-Al2O3-SiO2system, a diagram of the primary crystallization field of anorthite and the adjacent boundary curves is shown, indicating the directions of temperature drop and designating invariant points. The presented scheme adequately reflects the topological regularities of the state diagram of the Ca O-Al2O3-SiO2system. The paper presents the results of the sterlet sturgeon Acipenser ruthenus reintroduction into the Kama Reservoir(Perm Krai,Russia)by sterlet fry from hatcheries into the reservoir since *** effectiveness of hatchery releases was evaluated by monitoring gillnet sampling *** results showed that the species was reported throughout entire Kama Reservoir,which contrasts with 1988-1994 data,when the species was registered only at the upper part of the reservoir near the Kama River *** highest number and biomass values of catch per unit effort(CPUE)of the sterlet were found in submerged river channels-the deepest habitats with flow conditions which are close to the ecological requirements of the *** distribution of the sterlet within the channel biotopes of the reservoir is defined by reduced *** biggest individuals and the widest size range of the sterlet were typical for the upper area of the reservoir and Chusovskoy bay,which have the greatest *** smallest sizes were typical for fish from catches near the dam of the reservoir,which is consistent with the published data on the distribution of sterlet in reservoir *** presented results may indicate the artificial formation of the sterlet stock in the Kama Reservoir maintained by hatchery *** revealed distribution of the sterlet in the reservoir determines the direction of further research on natural reproduction and thus formation of an artificially formed ***,future studies are required to assess the possibility of hybridization of the sterlet of artificial origin with natural populations of the species,since the low genetic diversity of the sterlet released into the Kama Reservoir which can lead to irreversible loss of genetic individuality of the natural stocks of the species in the catchment of upper course of the Kama River.

With increasing life expectancy， neurodegenerative diseases have become one of the leading causes of ill-health in the elderly. Preventive strategies include following healthy diets， such as the Mediterranean diet， which is particularly rich in polyphenols， bioactive compounds with neuroprotective properties. The aim of this study was to assess the association of microbial phenolic metabolites (MPM) with cognition. This cross-sectional analysis was performed with 200 participants of the PREDIMED trial (barcelona-Clinic recruitment center). A novel method based on liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry was used to identify urinary MPM (protocatechuic acid， enterodiol glucuronide， enterolactone glucuronide， urolithin b glucuronide， and vanillic acid glucuronide)， and cognitive function was evaluated with neuropsychological tests. Multivariable-adjusted ordinary least squares regression was used to assess the associations between cognitive function and MPM， and a score was calculated as the weighted sum of MPM. A higher MPM score was associated with better frontal lobe function. Among individual metabolites， vanillic acid glucuronide was correlated with frontal cognitive performance. Participants with higher concentrations of vanillic acid glucuronide and urolithin b glucuronide obtained better scores in the Color Trail Test part 2. A higher score for urinary multi-MPM was associated with better frontal cognitive performance in an older Mediterranean population.

Inhalation treatment of lung cancer: the influence of composition, size and shape of nanocarriers on their lung accumulation and retention

Objective： Various nanoparticles have been designed and tested in order to select optimal carriers for the inhalation delivery ofanticancer drugs to the lungs. Methods： q-he following nanocarriers were studied： micelles, liposomes, mesoporous silica nanoparticles （MSNs）, poly propyleneimine （PPI） dendrimer-siRNA complexes nanoparticles, quantum dots （QDs）, and poly （ethylene glycol） polymers. All particles were characterized using the following methods： dynamic light scattering, zeta potential, atomic force microscopy, in vitro cyto- and genotoxicity. In vivo organ distribution of all nanopartides, retention in the lungs, and anticancer effects of liposomes loaded with doxorubicin were examined in nude mice after the pulmonary or intravenous delivery. Results： Significant differences in lung uptake were found after the inhalation delivery of lipid-based and non-lipid-based nanoparticles. The accumulation ofliposomes and miceUes in lungs remained relatively high even 24 h after inhalation when compared with MSNs, Q Ds, and PPI dendrimers. There were notable differences between nanoparticle accumulation in the lungs and other organs 1 and 3 h after inhalation or intravenous administrations, but 24 h after intravenous injection all nanoparticles were mainly accumulated in the liver, kidneys, and spleen. Inhalation delivery of doxorubicin by liposomes significantly enhanced its anticancer effect and prevented severe adverse side effects of the treatment in mice bearing the orthotopic model of lung cancer. Conclusion： The results of the study demonstrate that lipid-based nanocarriers had considerably higher accumulation and longer retention time in the lungs when compared with non-lipid-based carriers after the inhalation delivery. These particles are most suitable for effective inhalation treatment of lung cancer.

Problems associated with carbon support corrosion under operating fuel cell conditions require the identification of alternative supports for platinum-based nanosized *** supported on manganese vanadate(Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6))was prepared by microwave irradiation method and characterized using X-ray diffraction,Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy,and transmission electron *** borohydride oxidation reaction(bOR)on Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) was studied in highly alkaline media using voltammetry,chronoamperometry,and electrochemical impedance *** electrocatalytic activity of Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) was also compared with that of commercial Pt/C(46 wt%Pt)*** apparent activation energy of bOR at Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) was estimated to be 32 k J mol^(-1) and the order of reaction to be 0.51,indicating that borohydride hydrolysis proceeds in parallel with its ***-term stability of Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) under bOR typical conditions was observed.A laboratory-scale direct borohydride fuel cell assembled with a Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) anode reached a specific power of 274 W g^(-1).Experimental results on Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) were complemented by DFT calculations,which indicated good adherence of Pt to MnV_(2)O_(6),beneficial for electrocatalyst stability.

A global existence theorem is established for an initial-boundary value prob- lem, with time-dependent boundary data, arising in a lumped parameter model of pulse combustion; the model in question gives rise to a nonlinear mixed hyperbolic-parabolic sys- tem. Using results previously established for the associated linear problem, a fixed point argument is employed to prove local existence for a regularized version of the nonlinear problem with artificial viscosity. Appropriate a-priori estimates are then derived which imply that the local existence result can be extended to a global existence theorem for the regularized problem. Finally, a different set of a priori estimates is generated which allows for taking the limit as the artificial viscosity parameter converges to zero; the corresponding solution of the regularized problem is then proven to converge to the unique solution of the initial-boundary value problem for the original, nonlinear, hyperbolic-parabolic system.
