Introduction: Cervical cancer is a public health concern and is mainly caused by Human papillomaviruses (HPV). In many parts of the world, studies are being carried out to understand the different genotypes to better tackle this issue. We conducted a study to determine the prevalence of HPV genotypes in women with chronic hepatitis b or C infection, co-infected or not with HIV, treated at the Hôpital Saint Camille in Ouagadougou (burkina Faso). Methods: This study was conducted from April to July 2023, including 100 women in gastroenterology at Hôpital Saint Camille. A questionnaire on their socio-demographic and life style was administrated;and endocervical samples were collected using sterile swabs and then sent to Centre of biomolecular Research Pietro Annigoni (CERbA). HPV molecular detection and genotyping were performed by PCR and hybridization using the HPV Direct Flow Chips kit. Data were analysis using chi square test or Fischer’s exact test with a significance threshold for p Results: The prevalence of HPV infection was 28% (28/100) on the sample of women tested. The most frequent genotypes were HPV 52 (8.33%), followed by HPV 18 and 68 (6.25% each) for high-risk HPVs, and HPV 6, 44/55 and 62/81 (8.33% each) for low-risk HPVs. Conclusion: This study, the first of its kind in burkina Faso on this group of the population, reveals that the most frequent genotypes found in this study are not included in the vaccine available in burkina Faso (Gardasil®4).

Advances in understanding of the primary reactions of protochlorophyll(ide) photoreduction in cells and model systems

The key step in chlorophyll biosynthesis is photoreduction of its immediate precursor, protochlorophyllide. This reaction is catalyzed by a photoenzyme, protochlorophyllide oxidoreductase (POR) and consists in the attachment of two hydrogen atoms in positions C17 and C18 of the tetrapyrrole molecule of protochlorophyllide;the double bond is replaced with the single bond. Two hydrogen donors involved in protochloro-phyllide photoreduction are NADPH [1,2] and a conserved tyrosine residue Tyr193 of the photoenzyme POR [3]. The structure of active pigment-enzyme complex (Pchlide-POR-NADPH) ensures a favorable steric conditions for the transfer of hydride ion and proton. This review does not examine the ternary complex structure, but concentrates upon the mechanisms of primary photophysical and photochemical reactions during formation of chlorophyllide from protochlorophyllide in living objects (etiolated leaves and leaf homogenates) and model systems.

Palynostratigraphy of Upper Cretaceous and boundary Paleogene deposits in West Siberian Plain

The article presents the results of many years of studies of the Upper Cretaceous and Paleogene sediments in the territory of West Siberian Plain. The heterogeneous structure of these sediments in different regions of the plain is shown. The lithological and palynological characteristics of a number of studied wells drilled in different years in Omsk and Kulunda Depressions, in baraba Lowland and bakchar basin are given. The obtained palynological data allowed to substantiate the age of the deposits and to make suggestions concerning their depositional environment, and to clarify the subdivision of geological section into formations. The sections of the Upper Cretaceous and Paleogene deposits in different lithofacial regions of the Western Siberia differ from each other in completeness, genesis, and paleontological characteristics. The Upper Cretaceous sediments in Western Siberia are represented by formations of both marine(Pokur, Kuznetzovo, Ipatovo, Slavgorod and Gan'kino Formations) and continental genesis(Lenkovo and Sym formations). The Paleogene sediments, with the exception of Oligocene, mostly have a marine genesis-these are Talitsa-, Marsyat-, Lulinvor-, Tavda-and Yurki formations, but there are also continental sediments(Ostrovnoje Formation). A large stratigraphic break in the Upper Cretaceous and Paleogene boundary deposits, covering a significant part of the Maastrichtian, Paleocene, Ypresian, and Lutetian stages of the Eocene, was established in the sourheast of the West Siberian Plain(bakchar basin, baraba Lowland and Kulunda Depression). The most complete sections are located in the Omsk Depression, where the Upper Cretaceous Gan'kino Formation is covered by Talitsa and Lulinvor Formations of Paleogene age. The most important events occurring at the boundary of the Cretaceous and Paleogene in Western Siberia can be traced currently in a few sections located in the Trans-Ural area, since there was no sedimentation in the rest of the territory at that

Hyperhomocysteinemia in ulcerative colitis is related to folate levels

AIM: To study the prevalence and clinical significance of hyperhomocysteinemia (hHcys), an independent factor for arterial and venous thrombosis, in a group of patients with ulcerative colitis (UC).METHODS: Fasting homocysteine (Hcys), folate, and vitamin b12 serum levels were measured in 40 UC patients and 50 healthy controls. Clinical data regarding UC were ***: Median serum Hcys levels in UC patients were similar to those in controls (12.26 μmol/L vs 12.32 μmol/L), but the prevalence of hHcys was higher in UC patients than in controls (30% vs 10%, P= 0.028). UC significantly increased the risk of hHcys (adjusted odds ratio: 4.125;95% CI: 1.26-13.44). Multivariate regression analysis showed that male sex, folate and vitamin b12 deficiency or lower serum values were significant independent predictors of higher Hcys levels in UC patients (r2 = 0.4; P＜0.001).CONCLUSION: hHcys is common in UC patients and it is related to folate and vitamin b12 deficiency or lower serum values. It would be reasonable for patients with UC to receive folate and vitamin b complex supplements as a prophylactic measure.

Integration of Carbon Assimilation Modes with Photosynthetic Light Capture in the Green Alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii

The unicellular green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is capable of using organic and inorganic carbon sources simultaneously, which requires the adjustment of photosynthetic activity to the prevailing mode of carbon assimilation. We obtained novel insights into the regulation of light-harvesting at photosystem II （PSII） following altered carbon source avail- ability. In C. reinhardtii, synthesis of PSll-associated light-harvesting proteins （LHCbMs） is controlled by the cytosolic RNA- binding protein NAb1, which represses translation of particular LHCbM isoform transcripts. This mechanism is fine-tuned via regulation of the nuclear NAb1 promoter, which is activated when linear photosynthetic electron flow is restricted by CO2- limitation in a photoheterotrophic context. In the wild-type, accumulation of NAb1 reduces the functional PSII antenna size, thus preventing a harmful overexcited state of PSII, as observed in a NAbl-less mutant. We further demonstrate that trans- lation control as a newly identified long-term response to prolonged CO2-1imitation replaces LHCII state transitions as a fast response to PSII over-excitation. Intriguingly, activation of the long-term response is perturbed in state transition mutant stt7, suggesting a regulatory link between the long- and short-term response. We depict a regulatory circuit operating on distinct timescales and in different cellular compartments to fine-tune light-harvesting in photoheterotrophic eukaryotes.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of simultaneous administration of dutasteride,tadalafil and solifenacin in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia(bPH)with overactive bladder symptoms and lower urinary tract obstruction in previously unsuccessfully treated *** Patients in Group A(n=97)received dutasteride 0.5 mg/day,tadalafil 2.5 mg/day,and solifenacin 2.5 mg/day;Group b(n=95)received dutasteride 0.5 mg/day,tadalafil 5 mg/day,and solifenacin 5 mg/day;Group C(n=103)received dutasteride 0.5 mg/day,tadalafil 20 mg/day,and solifenacin 10 mg/*** functional status of the lower urinary tract was assessed using the International Prostate Symptom Score(I-PSS),Overactive bladder Questionnaire(OAbq),International Index of Erectile Function(IIEF),and Male Sexual Health Questionnaire Ejaculatory Dysfunction(MSHQ-EjD)as well as *** The total score of the sexual function remained unchanged in Group b of patients 81.3 points vs.80.2 points(p>0.05)according to MSHQ-EjD,61.4 points vs.51.2 points(p>0.05)according to IIEF *** total assessment of symptoms of hyperactivity significantly decreased in Group C according to OAbq data after the 4th week of the study(17.5 points vs.26.1 points,pbelow the baseline until the end of the study(15.2 points).Conclusions The simultaneous administration of standard doses of dutasteride,solifenacin,and tadalafil for 3 months is safe,effective,and can be recommended for patients with bPH to reduce symptoms of obstruction and hyperactivity of the bladder and maintain sexual function.
