Anurans are considered good indicators of habitat quality due to their bi-phasic life mode,limited dispersal abilities,and sensitivity to environmental changes brought about by habitat fragmentation,pollution,climate change,and emerging infectious *** study aimed to determine species diversity and local distribution of anurans in lower(1000–1400 masl)and upper(1400–1600 masl)montane forests on ***-Kalo of the *** Range Natural park,Central Mindanao,Southern philippines by employing standard sampling techniques for *** recorded a total of 251 individual anurans,representing 12 species during a brief recent study ***-Kalo’s upper montane forest has a higher diversity index(H’=1.276)than the lower montane forest(H’=0.851).Despite the very low diversity indices,the level of endemism of anurans was 100%where ten of the recorded species are Mindanao Faunal Region endemics and an additional two species are philippine *** muelleri exhibited the highest local abundance and individuals of this species which constituted 73%of individual anurans *** of the species encountered prefer terrestrial and aquatic microhabitats,specifically on the rocks and bank substrates along the rivers and *** species of anurans(philautus acutirostris,***,and Rhacophorus bimaculatus)were strictly found in arboreal *** magnus and *** have overlapping *** indicate that for such a short survey and modest sampling effort,the lower and upper montane forests of ***-Kalo support high endemism of anuran species suggesting that conservation efforts continue to be a priority in this unique protected area.

A geometric setting for generally nonconservative mechanical systems on fibred manifolds is proposed. Emphasis is put on an explicit formulation of nonholonomic mechanics when an unconstrained Lagrangian system moves in a generally non-potential force field depending on time, positions and velocities, and the constraints are nonholonomic, not necessarily linear in velocities. Equations of motion, and the corresponding Hamiltonian equations in intrinsic form are given. Regularity conditions are found and a nonholonomic Legendre transformation is proposed, leading to a canonical form of the nonholonomic Hamiltonian equations for nonconservative systems.

This paper introduces a technique for searching for bright massive stars in galaxies beyond the Local *** search for massive stars,we processed the results of stellar photometry from the Hubble Space Telescope(HST)images using the DAOpHOT and DOLpHOT *** results of such searches are demonstrated with examples of the galaxies DDO 68,M94 and NGC *** the galaxy DDO 68,the LBV star changes its brightness,and massive stars in M94 can be identified by excess in the Ha *** the galaxy NGC 1672,we measure the distance for the first time by the TRGB method,which enabled determining the luminosities of the brightest stars,likely hypergiants,in the young star formation *** far,we have performed stellar photometry on HST images of 320 northern sky galaxies located at a distance less than 12 *** allowed us to identify 53 galaxies with probable *** photometric and spectral observations of these galaxies are planned to search for massive stars.

This article returns to the topic of sustainability. West Texas, mainly known for its cotton and cattle production, is facing problems related to the dispensation of agricultural waste produced by these operations. The article looks at the ways of handling agricultural waste and the opportunities of dispensing it in West Texas. Since between 30 - 40 percent of food produced in the US is not consumed, reduction of food waste is another sustainability problem that, when solved, would lead to the reduction of agricultural production and, in turn, the reduction of agricultural waste. Waste reduction management practices of large food chain stores in West Texas are discussed, with a final goal of bringing waste to a zero level. public sources of sustainable agricultural and non-agricultural waste handling are also mentioned. This research adds to the previous knowledge on sustainability by discussing agricultural waste practices of a specific local area, i.e. West Texas.

A substantial amount of the Indian economy depends solely on ***,on the other hand,plays a significant role in agriculture–while an adequate amount of rainfall can be considered as a blessing,if the amount is inordinate or scant,it can ruin the entire hard work of the *** this work,the rainfall dataset of the Vellore region,of Tamil Nadu,India,in the years 2021 and 2022 is forecasted using several machine learning *** engineering has been performed in this work in order to generate new features that remove all sorts of autocorrelation present in the *** removal of autocorrelation,the data could be used for performing operations on the time-series data,which otherwise could only be performed on any other regular regression *** work uses forecasting techniques like the AutoRegessive Integrated Moving Average(ARIMA)and exponential smoothening,and then the time-series data is further worked on using Long Short Term Memory(LSTM).Later,regression techniques are used by manipulating the *** work is benchmarked with several evaluation metrics on a test dataset,where XGBoost Regression technique outperformed the *** uniqueness of this work is that it forecasts the daily rainfall for the year 2021 and 2022 in Vellore *** work can be extended in the future to predict rainfall over a bigger region based on previously recorded time-series data,which can help the farmers and common people to plan accordingly and take precautionary measures.

BACKGROUND Ectopic Cushing syndrome(ECS)is a rare condition commonly associated with neuroendocrine tumors(NET),mainly bronchial *** association of paraneoplastic syndrome with Merkle cell carcinoma(MCC)is limited to individual case *** SUMMARY In this article we report an unusual and striking presentation of ECS in a patient with known metastatic *** elderly patient presented with new onset severe hypertension,hyperglycemia and hypokalemia,muscle wasting,and peripheral edema.A diagnosis of adrenocorticotropic hormone dependent,non-pituitary,Cushing syndrome was *** therapy inhibiting adrenal function was promptly started but unfortunately the patient survived only a few days after *** The occurrence of an aggressive form of ECS in patients with NET should be recognized as an ominous *** our knowledge,the association of this complication in a patient with MCC had not been reported.

Controlled Wettability of polymers via Environmental Crazing

This work highlights the benefits of environmental crazing for the control over the hydrophilic-lipophilic balance of glassy amorphous and semicrystalline polymers:poly(ethylene terephthalate)(pET)and biodegradable polycaprolactone(pCL).Task-oriented encapsulation of diverse commercial and natural hydrophilic(polyethyleneoxide,polyvinylpyrrolidone,gelatin)and hydrophobic guest additives(perfluoroorgano siloxanes,water-repellent impregnation)into mesoporous host polymer(pET,pCL)matrixes allows targeted control over the wettability of the resultant nanocomposite *** on the nature of the guest additive,the properties of the modified polymers can be varied from hydrophilic to hydrophobic:contact angle(CA)of pET can be adjusted from 47_(⊥)/38_(||)to 130_(⊥)/117_(||)°(for initial pET,CA=82°)and CA of pCL from 40°to 114°(for initial pCL CA=75°).The unique benefits of environmental crazing for structural modification are related to the universal character of this approach which can be applied to a broad range of polymers and allows preparation of diverse high-performance materials with tunable hydrophilic-lipophilic balance.

This paper uses Covasim,an agent-based model(ABM)of COVID-19,to evaluate and scenarios of epidemic spread in New York State(USA)and the *** parameters such as contagiousness(virus transmission rate),initial number of infected people,and probability of being tested depend on the region's demographic and geographical features,the containment measures introduced;they are calibrated to data about COVID-19 spread in the region of *** the first stage of our study,epidemiological data(numbers of people tested,diagnoses,critical cases,hospitalizations,and deaths)for each of the mentioned regions were *** data were characterized in terms of seasonality,stationarity,and dependency spaces,and were extrapolated using machine learning techniques to specify unknown epidemiological parameters of the *** the second stage,the Optuna optimizer based on the tree parzen estimation method for objective function minimization was applied to determine the model's unknown *** model was validated with the historical data of *** modeled results of COVID-19 spread in New York State and the UK have demonstrated that if the level of testing and containment measures is preserved,the number of positive cases in New York State remain the same during March of 2021,while in the UK it will reduce.
