Backgroun.: Developmen. of n.w n.n.materials that in.ibit or kil bacteria is an.importan. an. timely research topic. For example, fin.n.ial losses due to in.ectious diseases, such as diarrhea, are a major con.ern.in.livestock production. aroun. the world. An.imicrobial n.n.particles(n.s) represen. a promisin. altern.tive to an.ibiotics an. may lower an.ibiotic use an. con.equen.ly spread of an.ibiotic resistan.e traits amon. bacteria, in.ludin. ***: Four formulation. of zin. n.n.particles(Zn.A, Zn.B, Zn.C, an. Zn.D) based on.phosphates with spherical(Zn.A, Zn.B)or irregular(Zn.C, Zn.D) morphology were prepared. The highest in.vitro in.ibitory effect of our n.s was observed again.t Staphylococcus aureus(in.ibitory con.en.ration.values, IC50, ran.ed from 0.5 to 1.6 mmol/L), fol owed by Escherichia coli(IC500.8–1.5 mmol/L). In.con.rast, methicil in.resistan. S. aureus(IC501.2–4.7 mmol/L) was least affected an. this was similar to in.ibitory pattern. of commercial Zn.O-based n.s an. Zn.O. After the successful in.vitro testin., the in.vivo study with rats based on.dietary supplemen.ation.with zin. n.s was con.ucted. Four groups of rats were treated by 2,000 mg Zn.kg diet of Zn.A, Zn.B, Zn.C, an. Zn.D, for comparison.two groups were supplemen.ed by 2,000 mg Zn.kg diet of Zn.O-n.an. Zn.O, an. on. group(con.rol) was fed on.y by basal diet. The sign.fican.ly higher(P n.level in.liver an. kidn.y of al treated groups was foun., n.vertheless Zn.n.s did n.t greatly in.luen.e an.ioxidan. status of rats. However,the total aerobic an. coliform bacterial population.in.rat feces sign.fican.ly decreased(P n.al zin. groups after 30 d of the treatmen.. Furthermore, when.compared to the Zn.O group, Zn.A an. Zn.C n.n.particles reduced coliforms sign.fican.ly more(P n.lusion.: Our results demon.trate that phosphate-based zin. n.n.particles have the poten.ial to act as an.ibiotic agen.s.

Acridon. derivatives are widespread in.n.ture an. kn.wn.to be capable of havin. a variety of biological activities, but there is n.t an. in.ormation.on.the acridon. series compoun.s in.relation.to higher fun.i, in.ludin. edible mushrooms available in.literature at all. Research in.o the character of the mode of action.of these substan.es on.various livin. systems is n.cessary to elucidate the possible un.avorable biological con.equen.es an. improve measures on.their ecological safety. In.this work, the effect of acridon.-n.acetic acid on.mushroom mycelial growth was tested an. the culture of basidiomycete Len.in.la edodes (shiitake) has been.used. The in.luen.e of acridon. additive upon.the fun.al mycelium growth on.liquid (submerged) an. agar media was examin.d within.the wide con.en.ration.ran.e of acridon. carboxy-derivative. The results obtain.d testify to the relative ecological safety of these substan.es for mushroom organ.sm, an. to the mycelial growth promotin. capability of acridon.-n.acetic acid at favorable con.en.ration., both un.er the solid-phase an. liquid-phase culture con.ition.. In.fact, the very first step toward the in.estigation.in.o the systems "macromycete-acridon. series compoun." has been.made.

A n.w type homogen.ous plan.r PC (photoelectric con.erter) on.the basis of multijun.tion.semicon.uctor n.-p-p+-n.-p-p+-.-n.-p-p+ structure has been.in.estigated. The en.ire structure is a cascade PC con.istin. of a n.mber of elemen.s of the structure-sin.le PCs con.ected in.series an. illumin.ted by light that has con.isten.ly passed through the previous semicon.uctor layers. The theory of con.erter of both mon.chromatic an. solar radiation.has been.developed an. the limitin. values of their photoelectric an. power characteristics have been.determin.d, in.ludin. the optimal thickn.ss an. n.mber of sin.le PCs layered on.a base PC, their spectral sen.itivity, curren.-voltage characteristics an. efficien.y. The open.circuit voltage grows practically lin.arly with the n.mber of elemen.s in.the cascade. The top efficien.y limit for a certain.optimal elemen.s n.mber reaches its maximum that exceeds con.iderably that of the base PC, especially in.the ran.e of low collectin. coefficien. of charge carriers in.the base PC.
