Pakistan. the sixth most populous coun.ry with 185 million.people, grows in.the last years at approximately 3.2 million.people per year, gen.ratin. a stron. deman. for n.w urban.areas [1]. The Defen.e Housin. Authority (DHA), amon. Pakistan.s most reputable lan. developers, has been.in.trumen.al in.providin. lan. for both residen.ial an. commercial use in.several metropolitan.areas. In.Karachi, DHA has provided urban.lan. in.phases, with such lan. bein. most desirable to live an. work, sign.fican.ly improvin. the existin. stock an. allowin. the growth of competitive econ.mic activities. When.DHA started Phase 10, at a distan.e of 55 km from the cen.er of Karachi, the objective became to develop a self-sustain.d n.w city, although it should fun.tion.as a satellite to the main.metropolitan.area. Pakistan.has had a best experien.e from the plan.in. of Islamabad by the legen.ary plan.er Con.tan.in.s Doxiadis, based on.the Ekistics con.ept. So, the plan.ers for the n.w city, called DHA City Karachi (DCK), also followed the Ekistics con.ept, en.an.ed to address the sustain.bility requiremen.s of DHA. The resultin. highly complex plan.in. process, resultin. from an.un.ven.terrain.an. an.irregular boun.ary, was possible to be carried out by employin. advan.ed computer algorithms in.the form of parametric design.an. Of the 338, 147 (37.6%) tested positive forSchistosoma. Parasite eggs were presen. in.the urin. of on.y 1.3%. n.n. gen.tourin.ry clin.cal items were sign.fican.ly associated with positiveSchistosoma serology results: pelvic pain.(45.2%;OR = 1.57, 95%CI: 1.0–2.4), pain.on.ejaculation.(14.5%;OR = 1.85, 95%CI: 1.0–3.5), dyspareun.a (12.4%;OR = 2.45, 95%CI: 1.2–5.2), erectile dysfun.tion.(9.5%;OR = 3.10, 95%CI: 1.3–7.6), self-reported episodes of in.ertility (32.1%;OR = 1.69, 95%CI: 1.0–2.8), haematuria (55.2%;OR = 2.37, 95%CI: 1.5–3.6), dysuria (52.1%;OR = 2.01, 95%CI: 1.3–3.1), un.iagn.sed syn.romic STIs (5.4%), an. orchitis (20.7%;OR = 1.81, 95%CI: 1.0–3.1). A n.vel visible light-active photocatalyst formulation.n.T/OP） was obtain.d by supportin. n.doped TiO2（n.T） particles on.up-con.ersion.lumin.scen. organ.c phosphors（OP）. The photocatalytic activity of such catalysts was evaluated for the min.ralization.process of spiramycin.in.aqueous solution. The effect of n.T loadin. in.the ran.e 15–60 wt.% on.bulk an. surface characteristics of n.T/OP catalysts was in.estigated by several chemicophysical characterization.techn.ques. The photocatalytic performan.e of n.T/OP catalysts in.the removal of spyramicin.from aqueous solution.was assessed through photocatalytic tests un.er visible light irradiation. Total organ.c carbon.TOC） of aqueous solution.an. CO an. CO2 gas con.en.ration. evolved durin. the photodegradation.were an.lyzed. A dramatic en.an.emen. of photocatalytic activity of the photostructured visible active n.T/OP catalysts,compared to n.T catalyst,was observed. On.y CO2 was detected in.gas-phase durin. visible light irradiation.provin. that the photocatalytic process is effective in.the min.ralization.of spiramycin.reachin. very high values of TOC removal. The photocatalyst n.T/OP at 30 wt.% of n.T loadin. showed the highest photocatalytic activity（58%of TOC removed after 180 min.irradiation.again.t on.y 31% removal after 300 min.of irradiation.of n.T）. We attribute this en.an.ed activity to the high effectiven.ss in.the utilization.of visible light through improved light harvestin. an. exploitin.. OP particles act as ＂photoactive support＂,able to be excited by the extern.l visible light irradiation.an. reissue lumin.scen.e of wavelen.th suitable to promote n.T photomin.ralization.activity.
