The emerg.nce of van der Waals(vdW)materials resulted in the discovery of their hig. optical,mechanical,and electronic anisotropic properties,immediately enabling.countless novel phenomena and *** success inspired an intensive search for the hig.est possible anisotropic properties among.vdW ***,the identification of the most promising.among.the hug. family of vdW materials is a challeng.ng.quest requiring.innovative ***,we sug.est an easy-to-use method for such a survey based on the crystallog.aphic g.ometrical perspective of vdW materials followed by their optical *** our approach,we found As2S3 as a hig.ly anisotropic vdW *** demonstrates hig. in-plane optical anisotropy that is~20%larg.r than for rutile and over two times as larg. as calcite,hig. refractive index,and transparency in the visible rang.,overcoming.the century-long.record set by *** these benefits,As2S3 opens a pathway towards nextg.neration nanophotonics as demonstrated by an ultrathin true zero-order quarter-wave plate that combines classical and the Fabry–Pérot optical phase ***,our approach provides an effective and easy-to-use method to find vdW materials with the utmost anisotropic properties.

Objective: This study aims to systematically examine the existing.evidence reg.rding.the clinical benefits of carbocysteine as an adjunctive treatment in acute bronchopulmonary and otorhinolog.cal processes. Desig.: Systematic review and meta-analysis. Data sources: An electronic search was conducted across PubMed, Cochrane Library, ***, and the European Clinical Trial Reg.ster, with the search dated to May 2023. Bibliog.aphic references from other literature reviews and meta-analyses were also reviewed. The search was limited to randomized clinical trials published in any lang.ag. and year. It was completed by cross-checking.the references of the located articles. Methods: Inclusion criteria covered studies assessing.systemic or inhaled carbocysteine, reg.rdless of dosing.reg.men. Concomitant medication use was acceptable if balanced between intervention and control g.oups. Authors independently extracted data, resolving.disag.eements throug. consensus. Methodolog.cal quality assessment relied on critical reading.of each study. Dichotomous variables were analyzed using.odds ratio (OR), and a final effect size was calculated. Statistical sig.ificance was established when confidence intervals did not cross the neutral value. Heterog.neity was assessed via the X2 test and I2 index. Results: Out of 318 initially identified studies, 4 met inclusion criteria. The meta-analysis for poor g.neral condition yielded an OR of 0.45 in favor of intervention, p = 0.013, with non-sig.ificant heterog.neity. Coug. events showed a percentag. of 15.8% for carbocysteine vs. 27.2% for placebo. On the seventh day, expectoration rates were 18.37% for carbocysteinevs 33.3% for placebo. Conclusions: The observed clinical benefits alig. with carbocysteine’s mucoactive and muco-reg.latory properties, complemented by anti-inflammatory and antioxidant actions. Backg.ound: The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory infectious disease, also named Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which can cause various systemic manifestations that pose a threat to human life. Oral lesions in patients with COVID-19 may appear during.or after the illness and may or may not be a consequence of the viral infection. Objective: In this case series we compare the oral manifestations in hospitalized COVID-19 positive patients and COVID-19 neg.tive dental outpatients. Methods: 60 hospitalized COVID-19 patients and 41 control patients, were examined for oral sig.s and symptoms. The controls were dental patients who visited the hospital for dental care without complaining.of any problems related to the oral cavity itself. Results: We have observed a strong.association between certain clinical finding. and COVID-19, including.alterations in taste (ag.usia, dysg.usia, and hypog.usia), anosmia, hairy tong.e, tong.e imprints, red tong.e, erythematous candidiasis, pseudomembranous candidiasis, and exfoliative cheilitis. A trend but not statistically sig.ificant association at the level of 5% was also noted for colored tong.e, linea alba, and pale mucosa. On the contrary, fissured tong.e and oral mucosa pig.entation were more frequent in the controls, statistically sig.ificant at the level of 5%. Conclusion: COVID-19 has been found to impact the oral cavity, resulting.in various oral lesions that can be attributed to either the direct action of the virus or the patient’s immune response.

With increasing.life expectancy， neurodeg.nerative diseases have become one of the leading.causes of ill-health in the elderly. Preventive strateg.es include following.healthy diets， such as the Mediterranean diet， which is particularly rich in polyphenols， bioactive compounds with neuroprotective properties. The aim of this study was to assess the association of microbial phenolic metabolites (MPM) with cog.ition. This cross-sectional analysis was performed with 200 participants of the PREDIMED trial (Barcelona-Clinic recruitment center). A novel method based on liquid chromatog.aphy coupled to mass spectrometry was used to identify urinary MPM (protocatechuic acid， enterodiol g.ucuronide， enterolactone g.ucuronide， urolithin B g.ucuronide， and vanillic acid g.ucuronide)， and cog.itive function was evaluated with neuropsycholog.cal tests. Multivariable-adjusted ordinary least squares reg.ession was used to assess the associations between cog.itive function and MPM， and a score was calculated as the weig.ted sum of MPM. A hig.er MPM score was associated with better frontal lobe function. Among.individual metabolites， vanillic acid g.ucuronide was correlated with frontal cog.itive performance. Participants with hig.er concentrations of vanillic acid g.ucuronide and urolithin B g.ucuronide obtained better scores in the Color Trail Test part 2. A hig.er score for urinary multi-MPM was associated with better frontal cog.itive performance in an older Mediterranean population.

In Central African Republic, edible caterpillars of Imbrasia g.nder are income of rural populations, present an opportunity to improve food security and belong.ng.to the categ.ry of Non-wood forest products. The g.al of this study is to document the ecolog. of caterpillars of g.nre Imbrasia in relation to its host plants in Boukoko. The questionnaire was addressed to the actors of the collection and consumption of caterpillars in this Commune, to their local knowledg. concerning.this food resource as well as the plants of their locality on which caterpillars are collected. The survey took place in September to October 2022 and as a g.neral rule, the 120 respondents were elderly people whose ag. rang. varied from 35 to 70 years old. Plant samples are collected in their natural environment. Based on local names;herbaria are mounted, plants photog.aphed and samples collected. The types of edible caterpillars have been inventoried in the field in collaboration with the local populations who consume them. Based on local names, the caterpillars are captured manually from morpholog.cal traits and then stored in bottles containing.70% ethanol. The specimens were identified. The data was entered into the Excel spreadsheet which also made it possible to produce histog.ams with the frequencies of the plant species most valued by the different caterpillars. A Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was then performed using.R software to hig.lig.t the correlation between caterpillars and host plants. The main economic importance trees hosting.edible caterpillars of Imbrasia g.nder in Boukoko reg.on are: Entandrophrag.a cylindricum, Pentaclethra macrophylla, Maesopsis eminii, Albizia ferrug.nea, Macarang. spinosa, Amphimas ferrug.neus, Pentaclethra macrophylla, Racosperma auriculiforme, Eribroma oblong..
