BAcKGROUND There is limited literature on managing the airway of patients with linear immunoglobulin A(IgA)bullous dermatosis,a rare mucocutaneous disorder that leads to the development of friable *** clinical decision making is necessary when there is a risk of bleeding into the airway,and a multidisciplinary team approach may lead to decreased patient morbidity during these high-risk scenarios,especially when confronted with an unusual cause for *** SUMMARY A 45-year-old African American female presented to our ambulatory surgical center for right corneal transplantation due to corneal perforation after blunt trauma in the setting of cicatricial conjunctivitis and diffuse corneal neovascularization from linear IgA bullous *** diagnosis of IgA dermatosis was recent,and the patient had been lost to *** severity of the disease and extent of airway involvement was unknown at the time of the *** airway bleeding was noticed upon intubation and the otorhinolaryngology team had to be called to the operating *** patient required transfer to the intensive care unit where a multidisciplinary team was involved in her *** patient was extubated on postoperative day *** A multidisciplinary approach to treating this disease is the best course of action before a surgical *** our case,key communication between the surgery,anesthesia,and dermatology teams led to the quick and safe treatment of our patient’s *** surgery should not be considered for these cases unless they are in full remission and there is no mucous membrane involvement.

The main problem faced by ethanol oxidation reaction(EOR)includes low activity,poor selectivity,and *** the study,we found that polysulfide modified on the surface of Ptcu intermetallic(IM)/c can simultaneously enrich hydroxyl and ethanol,which could effectively improve the catalytic activity,cO_(2) selectivity,and durability of *** mass activity and the specific activity of the product in 1 M KOH electrolyte reached 17.83 A·mgPt^(-1) and 24.67 mA·cm^(-2).The cO_(2) selectivity of polysulfide modified product achieved 93.5%,which was 30 folds higher than Pt/*** addition,the catalyst showed high catalytic *** mechanism study demonstrates that the surface modified polysulfide could significantly boost the enrichment effect of ethanol and hydroxyl species,accelerating c–c bond cleavage and cO oxidation.

Background Schistosomiasis is highly endemic in sub-Saharan Africa and frequently imported to Europe. Male urogenital manifestations are often neglected. We aimed to ascertain the prevalence of genitourinary clinical signs and symptoms among long-term African migrants in a non-endemic European country using a serology *** We carried out a prospective, community-based cross-sectional study of adult male migrants from sub-Saharan Africa living in *** serology tests and microscopic urine examinations were carried out, and clinical data were obtained from an electronic medical record search and a structured *** We included 388 adult males, mean age 43.5 years [Standard Deviation (SD) = 12.0, range: 18–76]. The median time since migration to the European Union was 17 [Interquartile range (IQR): 11–21] years. The most frequent country of origin was Senegal (N = 179, 46.1%). Of the 338, 147 (37.6%) tested positive forSchistosoma. Parasite eggs were present in the urine of only 1.3%. nine genitourinary clinical items were significantly associated with positiveSchistosoma serology results: pelvic pain (45.2%;OR = 1.57, 95%cI: 1.0–2.4), pain on ejaculation (14.5%;OR = 1.85, 95%cI: 1.0–3.5), dyspareunia (12.4%;OR = 2.45, 95%cI: 1.2–5.2), erectile dysfunction (9.5%;OR = 3.10, 95%cI: 1.3–7.6), self-reported episodes of infertility (32.1%;OR = 1.69, 95%cI: 1.0–2.8), haematuria (55.2%;OR = 2.37, 95%cI: 1.5–3.6), dysuria (52.1%;OR = 2.01, 95%cI: 1.3–3.1), undiagnosed syndromic STIs (5.4%), and orchitis (20.7%;OR = 1.81, 95%cI: 1.0–3.1). clinical signs tended to *** Urogenital clinical signs and symptoms are prevalent among male African long-term migrants with a positiveSchistosoma serology results. The utilization of biodegradable magnesium(Mg)-based implants for restoration of bone function following trauma represents a transformative approach in orthopaedic *** such alloy,magnesium-10 weight percent gadolinium(Mg-10Gd),has been specifically developed to address the rapid degradation of Mg while enhancing its mechanical properties to promote bone *** studies have demonstrated that Mg-10Gd exhibits favorable osseointegration;however,it exhibits distinct ultrastructural adaptation in comparison to conventional implants like titanium(Ti).A crucial aspect that remains unexplored is the impact of Mg-10Gd degradation on the bone *** address this,we employed hierarchical three-dimensional imaging using synchrotron radiation in conjunction with image-based finite element *** using the methods outlined,the vascular porosity,lacunar porosity and the lacunar-canaliculi network(LcN)morphology of bone around Mg-10Gd in comparison to Ti in a rat model from 4 weeks to 20 weeks post-implantation was *** investigation revealed that within our observation period,the degradation of Mg-10Gd implants was associated with significantly lower(pcunar density in the surrounding bone,compared to ***,the LcN morphology and the fluid flow analysis did not significantly differ for both implant *** summary,a more pronounced lower lacunae distribution rather than their morphological changes was detected in the surrounding bone upon the degradation of Mg-10Gd *** implies potential disparities in bone remodelling rates when compared to Ti *** findings shed light on the intricate relationship between Mg-10Gd degradation and bone microarchitecture,contributing to a deeper understanding of the implications for successful osseointegration.

Introduction: cervical cancer is a public health concern and is mainly caused by Human papillomaviruses (HPV). In many parts of the world, studies are being carried out to understand the different genotypes to better tackle this issue. We conducted a study to determine the prevalence of HPV genotypes in women with chronic hepatitis B or c infection, co-infected or not with HIV, treated at the Hôpital Saint camille in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). Methods: This study was conducted from April to July 2023, including 100 women in gastroenterology at Hôpital Saint camille. A questionnaire on their socio-demographic and life style was administrated;and endocervical samples were collected using sterile swabs and then sent to centre of Biomolecular Research Pietro Annigoni (cERBA). HPV molecular detection and genotyping were performed by PcR and hybridization using the HPV Direct Flow chips kit. Data were analysis using chi square test or Fischer’s exact test with a significance threshold for p Results: The prevalence of HPV infection was 28% (28/100) on the sample of women tested. The most frequent genotypes were HPV 52 (8.33%), followed by HPV 18 and 68 (6.25% each) for high-risk HPVs, and HPV 6, 44/55 and 62/81 (8.33% each) for low-risk HPVs. conclusion: This study, the first of its kind in Burkina Faso on this group of the population, reveals that the most frequent genotypes found in this study are not included in the vaccine available in Burkina Faso (Gardasil®4).

Industrial and agricultural activities lead to the release of rare earth elements(REEs)in wastewater and aquatic ecosystems,and their accumulation in ***,the behavior of REEs in soils remains somewhat *** the present work the fractionation and fixation of REEs in soddy-podzolic and chernozem soils spiked with La,ce,and Nd chlorides were studied using dynamic(continuous flow)extraction,which allows natural conditions to be mimicked and artefacts to be *** eluents applied are aimed to dissolve exchangeable,specifically sorbed,bound to Mn oxides,bound to metal-organic complexes,and bound to amorphous and poorly ordered Fe/Al oxides fractions extractable by 0.05 mol/L ca(NO_(3))2,0.43 mol/L cH_(3)cOOH,0.1 mol/L NH_(2)OH·Hcl,0.1 mol/L K_(4)P_(2)O_(7) at pH 11,and 0.1 mol/L(NH4)_(2)c_(2)O_(4) at pH 3.2,*** is found that the fixations of added La,ce,and Nd in the form of metal-organic complexes is predominant for both types of soils:35%-38%in soddy-podzolic soil and 50%-79%in *** fixation of added elements in the first three fractions(exchangeable,specifically sorbed,and bound to Mn oxides)is significant for soddy-podzolic soil(5%-25%).For chernozem,the relative contents of added ce and Nd in these fractions are nearly *** the content of exchangeable La is notable,about 5%.Adding any of three elements(La,ce,or Nd)at the level of100 mg/kg to an initial sample results in changing the fractionation and bioaccessibility of other REEs present in *** contents increase in the first three fractions and decrease in fifth(oxalate extractable)fraction for both soddy-podzolic soil and *** main difference is the behavior of REEs in pyrophosphate extractable *** soddy-podzolic soil,adding La,ce,or Nd results in decreasing the contents of other REEs associated with organic *** chernozem,on the contrary,the contents of REEs in the form of metal-organic complexes slightly *** processes
