Foam rolling and stretching.d. not provide superior acute flexibility and stiffness improvements compared to any other warm-up intervention: A systematic review with meta-analysis

Background:Acute improvement in range of motion(ROM)is a widely reported effect of stretching and foam rolling,which is commonly explained by changes in pain threshold and/or musculotendinous ***,these effects were also reported in response to various other active and passive interventions that induce responses such as enhanced muscle ***,we hypothesized that acute ROM enhancements could be induced by a wide variety of interventions other than stretching or foam rolling that promote an increase in muscle ***:After a systematic search in PubMed,Web of Science,and SPORTdiscus databases,38 studies comparing the effects of stretching and foam rolling with several other interventions on ROM and passive properties were *** studies had 1134 participants in total,and the data analysis resulted in 140 effect sizes(ESs).ES calculations were performed using robust variance estimation model with ***:Study quality of the included studies was classified as fair(PEdro score=4.58)with low to moderate certainty of *** showed no significant differences in ROM(ES=0.01,p=0.88),stiffness(ES=0.09,p=0.67),or passive peak torque(ES=-0.30,p=0.14)between stretching or foam rolling and the other identified *** plots revealed no publication ***:Based on current literature,our results challenge the established view on stretching and foam rolling as a recommended component of warm-up *** lack of significant difference between interventions suggests there is no need to emphasize stretching or foam rolling to induce acute ROM,passive peak torque increases,or stiffness reductions.

Laparoscopic hepatectomy for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)has been shown to have superior short-term and comparable long-term outcomes compared with open hepatectomy in experienced centres(1).Short-term advantages include small incisions,reduced post-operative pain,faster recovery,reduced blood loss and lower risk of complications(2).However,the loss of tactile sensation makes it challenging to accurately locate lesions and define tumour margins.

Numerical analysis of high‑speed railway slab tracks using calibrated and validated 3d time‑domain modelling

Plasma electrolytic formation and characterization of MnWO_(4)/WO_(3) film heterostructures

MnWO_(4)/WO_(3) p-n heterojunction films were fabricated using a one-step method consisting of the plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO)of titanium in homogeneous electrolytes containing paratungstate ions and stable watersoluble EdTA-chelated *** influences of the formation current density and W:Mn molar ratio of the electrolyte,which was varied from 1:2 to 2:1,on the composition,morphology,and optical and photocatalytic properties of the resulting coatings were studied.X-ray diffraction analysis,scanning electron microscopy,energy dispersive X-ray analysis,Raman spectroscopy,and ultraviolet diffuse reflectance spectroscopy were used to characterize the formed *** of the W:Mn ratio of the electrolyte,the coatings contained crystalline t-WO_(3) and m-MnWO_(4).depending on the formation conditions,the optical band gap energies of the composites varied from 2.63 to 3.01 *** largest absorption red shift and lowest band gap energy were observed in the film composite formed in an electrolyte with W:Mn=2:1,at a current density of 0.2 A cm^(−2).Composites obtained in electrolytes with W:Mn ratios of 2:1 and 1:1 exhibited photocatalytic activity in the degradation of rhodamine C and methyl orange dyes in the presence of 10 mmol L^(–1) H2O_(2) under ultraviolet and visible light *** role of hydrogen peroxide in this dye degradation on PEO-coated composites under light irradiation is discussed.

Velocity profiles and energy fluctuations in simple shear granular flows

Rheology analysis of granular flows is important for predicting geophysical hazards and designing industrial processes. Using a discrete element method, we simulate simple shear flows in 3d under a constant confining pressure of 10 kPa. The inertial number proposed by the gdR Midi group in France is adopted to distinguish rheology regimes, Both translational and angular velocity profiles are investigated, and both fluid-like and solid-like behavior modes are observed in the flows. The maximum angular velocity occurs near the localized deformation area. We also investigate the energy characteristics of the flows and find that at very small shearing speed, the mean kinetic energy density ek is close to zero, while the mean elastic energy density ec is much greater. At large shearing speed, ek increases. The fluctuating parts of the two types of energy increase with increasing shear speed. Thus, the mean energy density ratio ek/ec can be used in addition to the inertial number to distinguish flow regimes. These results provide insights from energetics into the rheological properties of granular flows.

Well water contaminants and colorectal cancer in North dakota

The presence of organic matter in lakes profoundly impacts drinking water supplies,yet treatment processes involving coagulants and disinfectants can yield carcinogenic disinfection *** assessments of organic matter,such as chemical oxygen demand(COd_(Mn))and biochemical oxygen demand(BOd_(5)),are often ***,optical measurements of dissolved organic matter(dOM)offer a rapid and reliable means of obtaining organic matter composition *** we employed dOM optical measurements in conjunction with parallel factor analysis to scrutinize COd_(Mn)and BOd_(5)*** was performed using an independent dataset encompassing six lakes on the Yungui Plateau from 2014 to 2016(n=256).Leveraging multiple linear regressions(MLRs)applied to dOM absorbance at 254 nm(a254)and fluorescence components C1-C5,we successfully traced COd_(Mn)and BOd_(5)variations across the entire plateau(68 lakes,n=271,R^(2)>0.8,PdOM optical indices yielded superior estimates(higher R^(2))of COd_(Mn)and BOd_(5)during the rainy season compared to the dry season and demonstrated increased accuracy(R^(2)>0.9)in mesotrophic lakes compared to oligotrophic and eutrophic *** study underscores the utility of MLR-based dOM indices for inferring COd_(Mn)and BOd_(5)variability in plateau lakes and highlights the potential of integrating in situ and remote sensing platforms for water pollution early warning.
