The increasing influx of people to mountain base environments has opened up the area to a myriad of problems that threaten the liveability of the residents and the sustainability of the ***,sufficient empirical investigations have not looked at the particular issues that threaten their liveability *** the case of Idi-OriShasha mountain,this study examined the condition of informal urbanization at the mountain-base and equally investigated residents’living *** conducted questionnaire survey with closed and open-ended questions to collect data from 65 out of 533 houses within a buffer of 250 m from the mountain and retrieved 50 completed householdhead *** results revealed that majority of the residents were not satisfied living at the mountainbase because of the inadequate facilities that have contributed to their current living ***,mountain-base residents are liable to many liveability threats such as noise pollution,sleeplessness,building/wall cracks,destructive erosion,and water *** study recommends adequate infrastructural provision intervention in the area in order to upscale liveability dimensions and general residents’living ***,similar studies could be conducted elsewhere for validation and comparison of findings.

Black women have always been likened to being a less physically active group compared to women of other races/ethnicity,with reports of a high prevalence of obesity and other cardiometabolic diseases among *** purpose of this study is to examine the health benefits of physical activity on women of color,as well as barriers that inhibit their *** searched PubMed and Web of Science databases for relevant research *** articles were:Published in the English Language from 2011 to February 2022;conducted predominantly on black women,African women,or African American *** were identified,screened,and data extracted following the Preferred Reporting Item for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis(PRISMA)*** electronic search produced 2043 articles,and 33 articles were reviewed after meeting the inclusion criteria.13 articles focused on the benefits of physical activity while 20 articles addressed the barriers to physical *** was found that physical activity has various benefits for black women participants but they are being hindered from participation by some *** factors were grouped into four themes,namely Individual/Intrapersonal barriers,Socio-economic barriers,Social barriers,and Environmental *** studies have examined the benefits and barriers of physical activity among women of different racial and ethnic backgrounds,but there have been very few studies of African women,with the majority focusing on one geographical *** addition to exploring these benefits and barriers,this review offers recommendations on the areas researchers should focus on to promote physical activity in this population.

Objective:To identify the knowledge and awareness level of human mpox viral infection among healthcare workers in southwestern ***:A cross-sectional study was conducted in Ekiti State,southwest Nigeria among 316 healthcare workers that were selected through a systematic random *** were collected with the aid of a semi-structured,self-administered *** Chi-square test and binary logistic regression were used to find the association between the independent and dependent *** significance level was set at P-value<***:Two hundred and twenty-two(70.3%)of the respondents were aged≤40 years,mean age(36±9)years,189(59.8%)were female,306(96.8%)were Christians,and 203(64.2%)were *** hundred and fourteen(99.4%)of the respondents were aware of mpox *** sources of information about mpox were medical education(44.0%),radio/television(32.0%)and newspaper(21.0%).However,among those aware of the disease,209(67.0%)demonstrated poor knowledge *** than 5 years’experience of medical practice was the only significant predictor of higher knowledge level of the disease(OR 1.76,95%CI 1.01-3.06;P=0.046).Conclusions:Despite the high awareness level of mpox infection among healthcare workers,there still exists a huge knowledge *** is recommended that targeted intervention could be directed towards continuous medical education and simulation exercises on re-emerging infectious diseases like mpox to improve the knowledge of the healthcare workers.

General anesthesia with controlled ventilation through endotracheal tube is an anaesthetic technique used by the anesthesiologists all over the world. Laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation is necessary to achieve this technique. Traditionally succinylcholine is drug of choice for induction due to its rapid onset of action. Aim: This study compared the efficiency of magnesium sulphate in reducing fasciculation and increase in serum potassium which are the common complications associated with suxamethonium administration. Methods: Fifty six patients being planned for lower abdominal surgery under general anaesthesia were randomized into two groups M and S. Serum potassium was taken in the theatre, three minutes before induction of anesthesia patients in M group were given 6 mg/kg of magnesium sulphate diluted in 10 ml normal saline intravenously while in S group 10 ml of normal saline was injected intravenously. The occurrence and degree of fasciculation were recorded after administration of suxamethonium in both groups while serum potassium was also taken at the end of fasciculations. The researcher was blinded to the content of the syringes until after the study. Results: More patients in the S group had fasciculations compared to the M group while the degree of fasciculations was more in the S group, the serum potassium increase was more in the saline group.

Introduction: Perioperative management of patients with corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) could be extremely challenging in order to keep the balance between providing optimal medical care and protecting health-care providers from the risk of infection. Also the respiratory effect of COVID 19 could also alter the course and outcome of surgery. Aim: We aim to report a 30-year-old COVID-19 patient who had emergency cesarean section on account of placenta praevia. Methodology: The cesarean section was done under subarachnoid block while there was no significant event perioperatively while preventive measures were taken to avoid cross infection with the managing team. Results: The patient had a safe anesthesia and surgery. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test was done fourth day after surgery was negative for the mother and child.

Objectives: Rapid and accurate identification of persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 which causes COVID-19 is key to managing the pandemic. The urgent need to scale up access to COVID-19 testing in Nigeria has led to the government’s introduction of the use of COVID-19 Ag rapid diagnostic test (RDT) across various settings in the country. However, field performance evaluation of the rapid SARS-CoV-2 antigen detection test is required to be conducted periodically and compared with the gold standard real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test for diagnosis of COVID-19 cases. Design: A prospective COVID-19 screening and un-blinded verification of the performance of the STANDARD Q COVID-19 Ag test kit. Setting: The rapid SARS-CoV-2 antigen detection test, StandardTM Q COVID-19 Ag kit was compared with the RT-PCR test for detection of SARS-CoV-2 in nasopharyngeal samples for COVID-19 screening from persons and personnel attending a national youth camp orientation exercise during the second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak (January to March 2021) in Ondo state, southwest Nigeria. Participants: Three hundred fifty-one persons and personnel were screened for COVID-19 infection. Results: Of 351 respondents screened, 68 (19.4%) were positive, and 264 (75.2%) were negative for both COVID-19 Ag RDT and RT-PCR assay. The rapid SARS-CoV-2 antigen detection test’s sensitivity and specificity were 78.16% (95% CI = 68.02% - 86.31%) and 100.0% (95% CI = 98.61% - 100.0%), respectively and the diagnostic accuracy was 94.59% (95% CI: 92 - 97). Post-consumer polymeric wastes in form of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) can now be considered suitable as a precursor for the synthesis of low-cost activated carbon (AC). This study produced AC from LDPE using sulphuric acid (H2SO4) and potassium hydroxide (KOH) as the activating agent. The reaction conditions for pyrolysis were varied in the range of 0.50 - 2.00 M, 400°C - 500°C, and 45 - 60 minutes. Physico-chemical investigations reveal that AC yield is significantly dependent on both carbonization temperatures and time. The obtained optimum values of 446.50°C and 51.09 mins gave a yield of 24% for the base-activated carbon. The high iodine numbers obtained strongly indicate the presence of large surface area and pore volumes is further confirmed using the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis which reveals the presence of pores on the external surface of the carbons. Fourier Transform Infrared Technique (FTIR) analysis further shows that the synthesized compounds are purely carbon with rich oxy-gen-surface complexes on the surface which is as a result of the introduction of the chemical oxidizing agents. The produced carbons were found to have high adsorption affinity for selected inorganic ions which are: Mn7+, Co2+, and Cr6+. Adsorption isotherm results show the adsorption process to be favourable with the Langmuir isotherm parameter RL having values of <1, while the Freudlich adsorption model was found to perfectly fit the data at selected adsorbent dosages and adsorbate concentrations.
