The influence of HDL and purified apoprotein E on platelet activation induced by serotonin

Elevated plasma levels of high density lipoprotein (HDL) are recognized as having a beneficial influence on the progression of atherosclerosis. As platelets are closely involved in atherosclerogenesis, it is difficult to evaluate if the protective effect of HDL is associated with its ability to affect platelet structure and function. Previous studies give conflicting reports concerning the HDL platelet interaction. In our in vitro experiments, washed human blood platelets were preincubated with HDL (100 800 μg/ml) and then stimulated by serotonin (5 Hydroxytryptamine, 1 5 μM), a potent agonist and mediator in the process of atherosclerosis. Aggregatory studies and electron microscopy revealed that HDL could not prevent morphological alterations of blood platelets treated with serotonin. Furthermore, high dosages of HDL led to platelet activation. These findings indicate that HDL may not inhibit agonist induced platelet activation. Our findings suggest that the protective influence of HDL may not be associated with decreased platelet function. Apoprotein E rich subclasses of HDL (HDL 2), particularly HDL enriched apoprotein E (HDL E), inhibit agonist induced platelet activation. In order to enlighten the role of apo E in this process, platelets in suspensions were preincubated with purified apoprotein E (50 400 μg/ml) and then stimulated by serotonin (5 μM). CFD-DEM simulation of high density particles fluidization behaviors in 3D conical spouted beds

A vibration isolator with a controllable quasi-zero stiffness region based on nonlinear force design

To achieve stability optimization in low-frequency vibration control for precision instruments,this paper presents a quasi-zero stiffness(QZS)vibration isolator with adjustable nonlinear ***,the stress-magnetism coupling model is established through meticulous theoretical *** controllable QZS interval is constructed via parameter design and magnetic control,effectively segregating the high static stiffness bearing section from the QZS vibration isolation ***,a displacement control scheme utilizing a magnetic force is proposed to regulate entry into the QZS working range for the vibration isolation *** results demonstrate that the operation within this QZS region reduces the peak-to-peak acceleration signal by approximately 66.7%compared with the operation outside this region,thereby significantly improving the low frequency performance of the QZS vibration isolator.

riverine sulfate sources and behaviors in arid environment,Northwest China:Constraints from sulfur and oxygen isotopes

The fate of riverine sulfate ion (SO_(4)^(2-)) and its environmental effects in arid environment are difficult to evaluate due to its complicated sources and strongly coupled behaviors with water cycle which is significantly modified by *** understand the sulfur cycle in aquatic systems in arid environment,the chemical and sulfur and oxygen isotopic compositions (δ^(34)S_(SO4)and δ^(18)O_(SO4)) of major rivers around the Badain Jaran Desert,northwestern China,were *** rivers had averaged SO_(4)^(2-)content at 1336μmol/L,over 10times higher than the global *** δ^(34)S_(SO4)and δ^(18)O_(SO4)values ranged from-5.3‰to+11.8‰and+1.6‰to+12.8‰,*** end-member analysis and the inverse model showed that riverine sulfate was mainly derived from evaporites dissolution (0-87%),sulfide oxidation (13%-100%) and precipitation (0-33%),indicating heterogeneity in sulfur sources and behaviors along the river drainage with the lithology variations and climate *** isotopic tools combining with hydro-chemistry compositions could be applied to reveal sulfur cycle in arid *** on the calculation,sulfide oxidation plays the primary role in the headwater and upstream in the Qilian-Mountains area,where sulfide is widely *** the proportion of evaporites dissolution contributing to riverine sulfate is much higher in downstream in a drier ***,less precipitation and higher temperature can lead to more intensive evaporation,affecting the process of sulfide oxidation and enhancing the rates of evaporites dissolution and sulfate precipitation in the basin.

Highly oriented MXene/polyvinyl alcohol films prepared by scalable layer-by-layer blade coating for efficient electromagnetic interference shielding and infrared stealth

Controlling the orientation of two-dimensional MXene within layered films is essential to optimize or tune their mechanical properties and electromagnetic interference shielding(EMI)performance,but achieving the high orientation MXene layers on an industrial scale remains a challenging *** this paper,a scalable layer-by-layer blade coating(LbLBC)method was employed to fabricate highly oriented MXene/polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)*** the LbLBC process,MXene/PVA colloid suffered a strong shearing effect,which induced the ordered alignment of MXene nanosheets along the direction of the blade *** orientation of MXene can be effectively adjusted by changing the scraping gap of LbLBC,achieving a maximum Herman orientation factor f of *** a result,the mechanical properties and EMI performance of the as-prepared MXene/PVA films are in direct proportion to their orientation,with the optimal values of tensile strength of 145.5 MPa,fracture strain of 19.6%,toughness of 17.7 MJ·m^(−3),and EMI shielding effectiveness of 36.7 ***,the inherently low mid-infrared(mid-Ir)emissivity of MXene,combined with the densely oriented structure affords the composite films with Ir stealth,resulting in a substantial decrease from 150 to 66.1℃in the radiative temperature of a ***,these scalable MXene/PVA films exhibit remarkable potential for integration into the next generation of multifunctional protective camouflage materials.

Effects of physical crust on soil detachment by overland flow in the Loess Plateau region of China

Physical soil crust(PSC),a key component of surface soil structure,exists extensively in loess *** is considered to have a significant effect on soil detachment ***,the long-term effects and the corresponding mechanisms of PSC on soil detachment by overland flow are still not well understood,especially in natural *** investigate temporal variation in soil erosion resistance and the underlying factors during PSC formation,an 8×8-m soil plot was exposed to natural conditions in the Loess Plateau over a 524-day period spanning two rainy seasons and a winter between them.A flume test was conducted to determine soil detachment capacity(Dc)under six designed flow shear stress levels(5.66-22.11 Pa)using crusted(SC)and non-crusted(NSC)soil samples at different PSC development ***,two soil erosion resistance parameters,rill erodibility(K_(r))and critical shear stress(τ_(c)),were *** time,in the SC and NSC treatments,K_(r)decreased from 0.516 to 0.120 s m^(-1)and 0.521 to 0.223 s m^(-1),respectively,whileτ_(c)increased from 0.49 to 4.42 Pa and 0.26-2.46 Pa,*** in soil erosion resistance was rapid in the first one to two months,and then slowed down,with slight fluctuations *** the SC treatment,K_(r)was 42%lower andτ_(c)was 67%greater than those in the NSC *** properties changed greatly for both *** increased from 0 to 7.09 mm in the SC *** increased from 2.91 to 9.04 kPa and 3.01-4.78 kPa in SC and NSC treatments,*** soil erosion resistance parameters could be well predicted by SCT and Coh in the SC treatment(r^(2)≥0.82),while their best predictor was Coh in the NSC treatment(r^(2)≥0.90).The results demonstrate that PSC formation enhances soil erosion resistance in the soil detachment process in the loess region under natural *** study revealed the important role and complexity of PSC in the process of soil erosion,and provided theor
