Effects of Lepidium sativum supplementation on growth and gonadotropins secretion in ovariectomized, estrogen-implanted rabbits

Objective: To test the effects of dietary supplementation of Lepidium sativum (Ls) seed powder on growth performance and gonadotropins secretion in ovariectomized, estradiol-implanted rabbits. Methods: Ovariectomized, estradiol-implanted Chinchilla rabbits were assigned into four experimental groups: Ls seed powder was included into normal rabbit chow at 0% (control), 5% (low), 7% (mid) and 10% (high) w/w. Experimental feed and water were given ad-libitum for 3 weeks. Weekly body weights and daily feed intake of rabbits were recorded. Twenty-one days post-feeding, blood samples were collected at 15-minute interval for 3 h (PeriodⅠ) after which 2.5 μg gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) was injected intravenously and the sampling continued for another hour (PeriodⅡ). Plasma was harvested and analyzed for luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FsH) by radioimmunoassay. Results: Feed intake was significantly (Psed in Ls-supplemented rabbits. However, the increase in feed intake did not result in significant body weight gain. Ls seed supplementation significantly (Psed mean plasma LH dose-dependently from the low- to the mid-Ls level and then decreased LH at the high-Ls level. Ls supplementation increased (Psma FsH secretion. Injection of GnRH had no effect on plasma LH, however significantly (Psed overall plasma FsH secretion. Conclusions: Ls seed supplementation stimulates feed intake and gonadotropins secretion in rabbits. Gonadotropins effect may be mediated through Ls seeds phytosterols through the activation of estrogen receptors thereby producing agonistic effects resulting in LH and FsH secretion. The differential responses of gonadotropins to GnRH in Ls-supplemented rabbits suggest differential regulation of the synthesis and secretion of these gonadotropins.

Mpox disease is caused by a double-stranded DNA virus, genus Orthopoxvirus of the family Poxviridae. The incubation period is usually 6 to 13 days but can range from 5 to 21 days while symptoms and signs may persist for 2 to 5 weeks. Although, the clinical features are usually less severe when compared to the deadly smallpox, the disease can be fatal with case fatality rate between 1% and 10%. In Imo state, Nigeria, there has been a changing epidemiology of the disease in the last 6 years and the frequency and geographic distribution of cases have progressively increased. This study aims to conduct a review of the disease epidemiology between 2017 and 2023 and implications for surveillance in Imo state. surveillance data from the surveillance Outbreak Response and Management system (sORMAs) was extracted between January 2017 and December 2023 across the 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Imo state. A line list of 231 suspected cases was downloaded into an excel template and analyzed using sPsssup>®sup> version 20 software. Analysis was done using descriptive statistics and associations were tested using Fischer’s exact at 0.05 level of significance. Of the 231 suspected cases, 57.1% (132) were males, 42.9% (99) were females and the modal age group was between the ages of 0 - 4 (32.5%). Eight (8) LGAs (districts) accounted for 71% (n = 164) of all the suspected cases. 21.2% (49) were confirmed positive, 27 males (55.1%) and 22 females (44.9%) (p > 0.05). Modal age group was 20 - 24 (22.4%, n = 11), 18% (9) were children under 14 years, p > 0.05. Case fatality rate was 8% (n = 4). There was no significant association between mortality and age group. Five (5) LGAs accounted for about 60% (29) of all confirmed cases. These LGAs contribute only 20% to the total population in the state. Only 5.6% and 4% of suspected and confirmed cases, respectively, had knowledge of contact with an infectious source. The study described the epidemiology of Mpox outbreaks between 2017

A Comparative Analysis of Caffeine Extraction Efficiency from Different Tea Varieties and Its Effect on Human Physiology: A spectrophotometric Investigation

The current work imitates the trivial method which intricates the abstraction along with classification of caffeine accessible in variability of decoction shrubberies which are expended in two different states of India (Telengana & Uttar Pradesh). As per observation individuals of both the states are identical tender of consumption of tea. Abstraction progression tangled variability of stages which are discoursed in the work. In addition, the outcome of drinking of caffeine or the permitted ingestion of caffeine over tea has also been conferred through the work and linked the data with the literature data. In this study, we used a UV-visible spectrophotometer as well as liquid-liquid extraction method to determine the caffeine content in various tea samples. The significance of this study lies in the fact that accurate determination of caffeine content is essential for quality control and labeling of tea products. The UV-visible spectrophotometer method was found to be simple, reliable, and sensitive for the detection of caffeine in tea samples.

The concept of zero waste is an ideal situation that will require different solutions for different categories of *** waste(E-waste),the fastest growing category of solid hazardous waste presents various unique *** product repair,reuse and remanufacture(3re)are crucial for effective source reduction of E-waste and the integration of the electronics industry into a circular or zero-waste economy ***,3re implementation is restricted by regulatory difficulties,particularly the invocation of copyright ***,we use the examples of electronic printer cartridges and restored compact discs(CDs)to identify the challenges and to explore solutions for managing the risks associated with E-waste through circular economy and the opportunities presented by innovative Blockchain solutions.A set of international consensuses on judicial definitions,such as 3re,refurbish fake/counterfeit product and copyright exhaustion,are proposed to accelerate source reduction in E-waste management toward the goal of zero waste.

Analysis of inhibition of concrete steel-rebar corrosion by Na_2Cr_2O_7 concentrations:Implications for conflicting reports on inhibitor effectiveness

Corrosion test data were measured using non-destructive electrochemical techniques and analysed for studying inhibition effectiveness by different concentrations of NazCr207 on the corrosion of concrete steel-rehar in NaC1 and in H2sO4 media. For these, specifications of AsTM G16-95 R04 were combined with the normal and the Gumbel probability density functions as model analytical methods for addressing issues of conflicting reports of inhibitor effectiveness that had generated concerns. Results show that reinforced concrete samples admixed with concentrations having 4 g （0.012 7 tool）, 8 g （0.025 4 mol） and 6 g （0.019 l tool） NaaCr207 exhibited, in that order, high inhibition effectiveness, with respective efficiency, r/, of （90.46±1.30）%, （88.41＋2.24）% and （84.87±4.74）%, in the NaC1 medium. These exhibit good agreements within replicates and statistical methods for the samples. Also, optimal inhibition effectiveness model in the H2sO4 medium was exhibited by 8 g （0.025 4 mol） Na2Cr207 concentration having r/=（78.44±1.10）%. These bear implications for addressing conflicting test data in the study of effective inhibitors for mitigating steel-rebar corrosion in aggressive environments.
