Objectives:The aim of our study was to compare the effects on quality of life(QoL)and stone-free rate(SFR)of percutane nephrolithotomy(PNL)and retrograde intrarenal surgery(RIRS)in patients with renal stones 2-4 *** and methods:A total of 102 patients with renal pelvis stones were enrolled in this prospective controlled study,of which 52 were performed RIRS and 50 with *** QoL was evaluated by using Short From-36 pre-and ***,the surgical data of all patients during and after the operations were compared between the 2 ***:The mean age,body mass index,stone size and density of the patients in the 2 groups were statistically similar(p>0.05).The SFR of PNL and RIRS were found 94%(47/50)and 73%(38/52),respectively(p<0.01).There were no statistically differences between operation times,minor complication rates and Short From-36 scores of the 2 *** times were 1.13±0.34days for RIRS and 2.9±5.7days for PNL(p<0.05).While the blood transfusion rate of PNL group was 8%(4/50),none patient was made blood transfusion in ***:The results of our study show that the blood transfusion rates and hospitalization times of RIRS group are significantly lower than PNL for management of renal pelvis stone 2-4 *** these advantages of RIRS,the SFR is significantly lower than PNL for these *** effects on QoL of the both interventions before and after surgery were similar.

BACKGROUND:Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytripta-mine) is a free radical scavenger and a strong antioxidant,secreted by the pineal *** this study,we evaluated the effects of decreasing and increasing serum melatonin levels on malonyldialdehyde (MDA),superoxide dismutase (SOD),and reduced glutathione (GSH) levels in pancreatic tissue from rats with experimental acute ***:Experimental acute pancreatitis was induced in three groups of Wistar albino rats (10 animals per group) by pancreatic ductal *** first group had only acute pancreatitis and served as the *** pinealectomy was added to acute pancreatitis in the second group,removing the source of endogenous melatonin (low melatonin levels group).The third group was given 0.1 ml daily intraperitoneal injections of 20 mg/ml melatonin solution for one week (high melatonin levels group).The effects of melatonin levels were evaluated by comparison of the levels of MDA,SOD,and GS in pancreatic ***:We found that intraperitoneal melatonin injections decreased the levels of MDA and increased the levels of SOD and GSH in pancreatic ***:Exogenous melatonin has a preventive effect on lipid peroxidation and oxidative damage in acute pancreatitis.

The mucocele of the appendix is an uncommon disorder which is often asymptomatic but sometimes causes acute appendicitis-like symptoms. Sometimes, patients with mucocele can present with confusing symptoms. Preoperative suspicion and diagnosis of appendiceal mucocele are important. Ultrasonography and computed tomography are useful tools for the diagnosis of appendiceal mucocele. It may be also recognised by colonoscopy as a smooth submucosal lesion of the cecum. Optima management of the mucocele could be achieved through accurate preoperative diagnosis. Preoperative diagnosis is a major component for minimizing intra-operative and post-operative complications. We herein report five cases and discuss the diagnostic methods and surgical treatment.

In this study, moisture content, peroxide and free fatty acid values and microbial counts of 30 Karinyagi samples taken from different retail markets in Afyonkarahisar province have been investigated. The average moisture content of Karinyagi samples was found to be 17.64%. The average peroxide values of the samples was found 2.33 meq O2/kg fat. Free fatty acid values of samples ranged at 2.2-5.2 mg NaOH/g fat and the average acidity value was found to be 3.43 mg NaOH/g fat. Total aerobic mesophilic bacteria, yeast/mould, coliform group and Micrococcus/Staphylococcus counts of Karinyagi samples were 5.59, 5.54, 2.56, 1.24 log CFU/g fat, respectively.

Lipoma within an inverted Meckel's diverticulum presen- ting with hemorrhage and partial intestinal obstruction is an exceptional clinical entity. We report a case of 47-year-old male with a history of recurrent episodes of partial intestinal obstruction and melena due to a subserosal lipoma located in the base of an inverted Meckel's diverticulum. According to our knowledge, this is the first case of a lipoma within a Meckel's diverticulum giving rise to this clinical scenario without the existence of heterotrophic gastric or pancreatic tissues.

We show that the electron-positron annihilation process resulting with the creation of two gamma photons cannot be fully determined without the conservation of the angular momentum which has two elements, namely, the conservation of the spin angular momentum and the conservation of the quantum flux which work as the conservation of the magnetic moments as well. The conservation of the quantum flux has never been considered so far for any collision process. We show that the missing conservation rule in the above process is the conservation of the total quantum flux which is the hidden variable of that process. By using the quantum entanglement together with the conservation of the quantum flux we show that the initial and the final states of this collision are fully determined. We also show that each of the gamma photons created in the end carries a quantum flux of ±Φ=±hc/e?with itself along the propagation direction. Here the (+) and (−) signs correspond to the right hand and left circular helicity, respectively.

Afyon kaymak （milk cream） is traditional dairy product of Afyon city which is a junction of Middle Anatolia and West regions and famous with its thermal tourism and food. However, challenging production process led Afyon kaymak to lose its importance. Although buffalo milk is the raw material of traditional Afyon kaymak, cow milk can be used in the process. In traditional process, milk is filtered with double cheesecloth and gotten into the aluminum or tinned copper milk cream pans where the capacity is around 2.5-3.0 L. Half-filled pan is warm up to 90-95 ℃. Pans are carried to cool area and left until cooling. Milk cream on the cooled pans is lined by a pin. New milked milk is added to the lined cream in pans and heated for 1 h. It is covered and held on for 6-8 h. While holding period is until afternoon on summer time, it is until mid-afternoon in winter. Covers of the pans are opened and hold in a cool place until morning and, thus, cream is chilled. Cream layer on pans are lined and gotten out of pans. Cream as circle is divided into four pieces and left to the cream package after turning down. In this review, we aimed to give some information about Afyon kaymak and its production methods.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between lower urinary tract symptoms （LUTSs）, erectile dysfunction （ED） and symptomatic late-onset hypogonadism （SLOH） in ageing men in the Aegean region of Turkey. Five hundred consecutive patients 〉40 years old who had been in a steady sexual relationship for the past 6 months and were admitted to one of six urology clinics were included in the study. Serum prostate-specific antigen and testosterone levels and urinary flow rates were measured. All patients filled out the International Prostate Symptom Score and Quality of Life （IPSS-QoL）, International Index of Erectile Function （IIEF） and Aging Males＇ Symptoms （AMS） scale forms. Of the patients, 23.9% had mild LUTSs, 53.3% had moderate LUTSs and 22.8% had severe LUTSs. The total testosterone level did not differ between groups. Additionally, 69.6% had ED. The presence of impotence increased with increasing LUTS severity. Symptomatic late-onset hypogonadism （AMS 〉27） was observed in 71.2% of the patients. The prevalence of severe hypogonadism symptoms increased with the IPSS scores. A correlation analysis revealed that all three questionnaire scores were significantly correlated. In conclusion, LUTS severity is an age-independent risk factor for ED and SLOH. LUTS severity and SLOH symptoms appear to have a strong link that requires etiological and biological clarification in future studies.
