Characterization of an iron oxy/hydroxide(gossan type) bearing refractory gold and silver ore by diagnostic leaching

A detailed characterization of an iron oxy/hydroxide(gossan type) bearing refractory gold/silver ore was performed with a new diagnostic approach for the development of a pretreatment process prior to cyanide leaching. Gold was observed to be present as native and electrum(6-24 μm in size) and associated with limonite, goethite and lepidocrocite within calcite and quartz matrix. Mineral liberation analysis(MLA) showed that electrum is found as free grains and in association with beudantite, limonite/goethite and quartz. Silver was mainly present as acanthite(Ag2S) and electrum and as inclusions within beudantite phase in the ore. The cyanide leaching tests showed that the extractions of gold and silver from the ore(d80: 50 μm) were limited to 76% and 23%, respectively, over a leaching period of 24 h. Diagnostic leaching tests coupled with the detailed mineralogical analysis of the ore suggest that the refractory gold and silver are mainly associated within iron oxide mineral phases such as limonite/goethite and jarosite-beudantite, which can be decomposed in alkaline solutions. Based on these characterizations, alkaline pretreatment of ore in potassium hydroxide solution was performed prior to cyanidation, which improved significantly the extraction of silver and gold up to 87% Ag and 90% Au. These findings suggest that alkaline leaching can be used as a new diagnostic approach to characterize the refractoriness of iron oxy/hydroxide bearing gold/silver ore and as a pretreatment method to overcome the refractoriness.

In this study,the chemical components of ethanol extracts from the resins of apricot(Prunus armeniaca L.),sour cherry(Prunus cerasus L.)and cherry(Prunus avium L.)trees were *** extracts'antifungal activity,minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC)and minimum fungicidal concentration(MFC)values were determined on seven different food-borne mold *** was the most abundant phenolic compound in Prunus cerasus and Prunus avium resin extracts,while chlorogenic acid had the highest concentration in Prunus armeniaca resin *** highest antifungal activity and the lowest MIC and MFC values were in the sour cherry tree resin's ethanol extracts(P<0.05).The highest antifungal activity was in the sour cherry tree resin's ethanol extract with a 19.24 mm zone diameter on Aspergillus *** contrast,the lowest effect was on Cladosporium cladosporioides with an 8.00 mm zone diameter in apricot tree resin's ethanol extracts(P<0.05).The lowest MIC and MFC values were recorded using the sour cherry tree resin's ethanol extracts on Rhizopus nigricans(16.6μg/mL)and Aspergillus flavus(47.3μg/mL)***,apricot,sour cherry,and cherry tree resins extracts can be used as natural antifungals against molds.

BACKGROUND: True alarm rate of the Code Blue cases is at a low level in the Dr. Beh?et Uz Children's Hospital in ?zmir. This study aims to analyse the use of the Code Blue alarm cases in the children's ***: This retrospective clinical study evaluated the age and the gender of the cases, the arriving time of the Code Blue team, the date and time of the Code Blue Call, the reasons of the Code Blue Call, and the verifi cation which were all obtained from the Code Blue forms of the hospital dated between January 2014 and January 2015. The data of 139 Code Blue cases' forms were investigated and was divided into two groups: before and after the education containing 88 and 51 cases, ***: Conversive disorder(26% to 13%, P<0.01), syncope(21.5% to 19.6%, P<0.01), convulsion(17% to 13.7%, P<0.01), hypoglycemia(4.5% to 3.9%, P<0.01), anxiety(4.5% to 1.9%, P<0.01), head trauma due to syncope(4.5% to 0%), cardiac arrest(1.1% to 0%), respiratory difficulties(2.2% to 1.9%, P<0.01), suspicion of myocardial infarction(2.2% to 1.9%, P<0.01), fall from stairs(2.2% to 0%) and agitation cases(1.1% to 0%) were reduced, however, the hypertension cases were dramatically increased(3.4% to 29.4%, P<0.01) owing to the hospital staff's education. The Pearson's correlation coeffi cient before and after education was 0.837. About 97.8% of the Code Blue cases were false calls with female greater than male(P<0.01).CONCLUSION: The results of this study show that more education is required for the hospital's staff and a new color code that is to say pre-diagnosis team should be formed.

Environmental attitude studies have been a key focus within the environmental research field, as the significance of ecological citizenship for the sustainable development discourse has been highly recognized in recent years. In this context, the influence of demographic variables on environmental attitude is an emerging issue that is widely investigated in the west. In this respect, this paper seeks to understand the impact of demographic variables on the environmental worldview of Famagusta residents in order to make a scientific contribution to the possible construction of relevant strategies. A random sample of 165 residents within the territory of Famagusta Municipality was chosen for the survey. The survey tapped the relationship between environmental （ecocentric and anthropocentric） attitudes and selected demographic variables （age, gender, education and household income） and the survey results were evaluated with the help of SPSS （statistical package for social sciences） analyses. The findings reveal that younger respondents, women and the highly educated do not achieve higher scores of environmental attitudes and household income has a statistically significant nonlinear effect.

The main objective of this study is to generate accurate synthetic hourly solar radiation data by using an easily accessible open source *** this regard,a new approach is proposed for estimation of synthetic hourly global solar radiation during the day by utilizing only annual solar energy *** time in literature,a model has been developed for prediction hourly and daily solar radiation based on annual solar energy parameter in this *** of the model were generated and tested for Turkey and one of them was presented as a case study within this *** term measured hourly horizontal solar irradiance data from a network of Turkish meteorological stations was used to calibrate the model *** predictions are compared with the solar data available in literature for *** advanced simple new model is utilized in open source computer program and has the potential to be adapted to other countries.
