Objectives:This study aims to ascertain if cultural factors influence the childbirth place choice of women in Oyigbo.Materials and Methods:The study used a cross‑sectional study design using a self‑structured questionnaire as the instrument to collect data from 384 volunteers through simple random sampling,and these data were analyzed using frequency and percentage for descriptive statistics while Chi‑square was used for inferential statistics at 0.05 level of significance.Results:The influence of cultural factors such as family traditions(χ^(2)=12.56,P=0.006),beliefs(χ^(2)=70.66,P=0.000),lack of confidence in health facilities(χ^(2)=367.83,P=0.000),and the presence of male skilled birth attendants(χ^(2)=50.85,P=0.000)were statistically significant to the choice of childbirth place,while patriarchal system(χ^(2)=2.99,P=0.393)was not statistically significant to the choices of childbirth places of women in Oyigbo.Religion had a statistically significant influence on childbirth place(χ^(2)=125.46,P=0.000).Conclusion:This study shows that religious and cultural factors have a significant influence on the childbirth place choices of women in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Sickle cell disease is the most common inherited hemoglobinopathy and is characterized by painful vaso-occlusive crisis.Pregnancy in women with sickle cell disease is associated with an increased incidence of maternal and perinatal complications,but notwithstanding,adequate care through preconception,antenatal,intrapartum,and postnatal stages ensures a better outcome.Despite the management of pregnant women with sickle cell disease being best accomplished using a multidisciplinary approach,few therapeutic interventions have been explored.This paper focuses on the effective conventional and non-conventional management of pregnant women with sickle cell disease with the aim of suppress the alternating effect of sickle cell disease and pregnancy for better maternal and fetal outcomes.The conscious use of these therapies integratively or alternatively can improve self-care and quality of life,decrease the occurrence of discomforts and complications,and reduce frequency of hospitalization.

Background:Albizia lebbeck(L.)Benth,a medium to large tree belonging to the family Fabaceae,is commonly used as a medicinal plant for various disease conditions.Aim:The aim of this study was to establish a pharmacognostical profile for the leaves of Albizia lebbeck(L.)Benth in order to aid its identification and authentication.Method:Standard macroscopic methods were employed to analyze the physical parameters of the Albizia lebbeck(L.)Benth leaves.Fresh leaf samples and dried leaf powder were studied under a microscope to reveal the plant’s microscopic features.Preliminary phytochemical investigation of the plant material was also conducted using standard methods.Result:The results showed the presence of fibers,epidermal cells,stomata,sclereids,prismatic crystals,vascular bundles,and parenchyma cells.Preliminary phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of phenols,flavonoids,glycocides,terpenes,tannins,saponins,carbohydrates,and quinones.Conclusion:These pharmacognostical and preliminary phytochemical observations can be considered as standard for future studies.

Medical image classification becomes a vital part of the design of computer aided diagnosis(CAD)models.The conventional CAD models are majorly dependent upon the shapes,colors,and/or textures that are problem oriented and exhibited complementary in medical images.The recently developed deep learning(DL)approaches pave an efficient method of constructing dedicated models for classification problems.But the maximum resolution of medical images and small datasets,DL models are facing the issues of increased computation cost.In this aspect,this paper presents a deep convolutional neural network with hierarchical spiking neural network(DCNN-HSNN)for medical image classification.The proposed DCNN-HSNN technique aims to detect and classify the existence of diseases using medical images.In addition,region growing segmentation technique is involved to determine the infected regions in the medical image.Moreover,NADAM optimizer with DCNN based Capsule Network(CapsNet)approach is used for feature extraction and derived a collection of feature vectors.Furthermore,the shark smell optimization algorithm(SSA)based HSNN approach is utilized for classification process.In order to validate the better performance of the DCNN-HSNN technique,a wide range of simulations take place against HIS2828 and ISIC2017 datasets.The experimental results highlighted the effectiveness of the DCNN-HSNN technique over the recent techniques interms of different measures.Please type your abstract here.

Objectives:Two different methods,namely traditional sundrying and solar dryer drying were employed to investigate the effect of drying method on the quality of Indian anchovies,Stolephorus commersonnii.Materials and Methods:Fifty fish samples of Stolephorus commersonnii were purchased for the drying study.Traditionally dried fishes were bought from the local market.For solar drying the samples were kept in on the solar cabinet dryer KSD 25 designed and fabricated by the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology(CIFT).International standard AOAC methods were used for quality analysis of dried fish samples.Results:The method of drying by the solar dryer is more hygienic and faster than the traditional sun-drying method.The biochemical compositions and sensory evaluation of the products obtained showed significant variation between the two drying methods.Solar dryer-dried fish has got good organoleptic score than the traditional sundried fish.The overall quality of fish dried in the solar dryer was better than the traditionally sundried fish.Conclusions:The study clearly indicates that solar drying can be used as an environment-friendly method for fish processing which enhances food security.

In recent years, the demand for Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) in smart farming has had a tremendous increase in demand for its efficiency. Wireless sensor networks have very many nodes, and it is of no use when the battery dies. This is why there are several routing protocols being take into consideration to cub this problem. In this paper, in order to increase the heterogeneity and energy levels of the network, the M-LEACH protocol is proposed. The key aim of the Leach protocol is to prolong the existence of wireless sensor network by lowering the energy consumption needed for Cluster Head creation and maintenance, the proposed algorithm instructs a node to use high power amplification as it acts as the Cluster heads, and low power amplification when it becomes a Cluster Member, in the next stage. Finally, for better effectiveness, M-LEACH employs hard and soft threshold systems. Since it eliminates collisions and reduces the packet drop ratio for other signals, the M-LEACH protocol proposed works better than the Leach protocol.

The Mean Central Cornea Thickness and Associated Factors among Adult Patients Attending Mulago Hospital Eye Clinic Kampala, Uganda

Background: The mean central corneal thickness (CCT) values are known to have an influence on intraocular pressure measurement and vary widely with age, sex and ethnicity. Little is known about the pattern of CCT in central Uganda. Aim: To determine the mean central corneal thickness and its associated factors among adult patients attending Mulago Hospital eye clinic, Kampala Uganda. Design and Method: A cross sectional study was done from August to October 2016 on 270 adult patients selected by systemic random sampling. The study included all adult patients who attended the eye clinic during the study period and consented to the study excluding those who had conditions causing abnormal thinning, thickening or irregularity of the cornea. The participants were evaluated by history taking and ocular examination including visual acuity assessment, slit lamp examination, central cornea thickness measurement, intraocular pressure measurement and funduscopy. Data were collected using a pretested questionnaire, entered using Epidata and analyzed by STATA11.0. Results: Of the 270 patients examined, 61% were female, 39% male, the mean age being 42 years ranging from 18 to 96 years. The mean central corneal thickness for both eyes was 539.3 (SD ± 41.65 μm) ranging from 332 μm to 701 μm and mean intraocular pressure was 15 (SD ± 5.34) mmHg. Gender, ethnicity, IOP, glaucoma, hypertension, diabetes, refractive error, were not statistically significantly associated with central cornea thickness. However central cornea thickness was statistically significantly associated with systolic blood pressure (r = -0.24, p = 0.025) and age (p = 0.002). A one-year increase in age reduced the mean central cornea thickness by 0.54 μm. Conclusion: The average CCT of Ugandan adult population was 539.3 ± 41.65 μm which falls in the category of normal central cornea thickness. Central corneal thickness reduced with increasing age and increasing systolic blood pressure.

The distribution of small mammals in mountainous environments across different elevations can provide important information on the effects of climate change on the dispersal of species. However, few studies conducted on Afromontane ecosystems have compared the altitudinal patterns of small mammal diversity. We investigated the species diversity and abundance of non-volant small mammals(hereafter ‘small mammals')on Mt. Kenya, the second tallest mountain in Africa,using a standard sampling scheme. Nine sampling transects were established at intervals of 200 m on the eastern(Chogoria) and western(Sirimon) slopes.A total of 1 905 individuals representing 25 species of small mammals were trapped after 12 240 trap-nights.Abundance was highest at mid-elevations on both slopes.However, species richness and their distribution patterns differed between the two slopes. More species were recorded on Chogoria(24) than on Sirimon(17). On Chogoria, species richness was higher at mid-high elevations, with a peak at mid-elevation(2 800 m a.s.l.),whereas species richness showed little variation on the Sirimon slope. These results indicate that patterns of species diversity can differ between slopes on the same mountain. In addition, we extensively reviewed literature on Mt. Kenya's mammals and compiled a comprehensive checklist of 76 mammalian species. However, additional research is required to improve our understanding of smal mammal diversity in mountain habitats in Africa.

在马拉维经济严重依赖农业的状况下,中小企业,特别是那些在马拉维从事农产品加工的中小企业,发挥着非常关键的作用。然而,这些中小企业中只有少数采用了技术创新。以此为出发点,本研究旨在调查技术创新如何对马拉维农产品加工型中小企业的增长产生影响。采用目的抽样方法,得到来自马拉维南部、中部和北部的300(300)家农产品加工中小企业的抽样数据。目的抽样方法仅针对于那些采用技术创新的中小企业。数据通过对农产品加工中小企业开展问卷调查来收集。并采用描述性统计方法对定量数据进行分析。结果显示,农业部门占马拉维国内生产总值的30%以上,研究表明,基于参与研究的96%的中小企业可以得出结论这样的结论:技术在中小企业绩效中发挥着重要作用,而且利用技术的中小企业与其他中小企业和大公司竞争的机会更大。该研究的结论是,技术创新(产品和工艺)与马拉维中小企业业务的增长之间存在正相关关系。并进一步表明,中小企业及其雇员的教育和培训水平对中小企业的技术吸收起着重要作用。与受过基础教育的中小企业相比,受教育程度较高的中小企业更有可能在经营中获得现代技术。

This paper reviews the research work done on the Reliability Analysis of Controller Area Network (CAN) based systems. During the last couple of decades, real-time researchers have extended schedulability analysis to a mature technique which for nontrivial systems can be used to determine whether a set of tasks executing on a single CPU or in a distributed system will meet their deadlines or not [1-3]. The main focus of the real-time research community is on hard real-time systems, and the essence of analyzing such systems is to investigate if deadlines are met in a worst case scenario. Whether this worst case actually will occur during execution, or if it is likely to occur, is not normally considered. Reliability modeling, on the other hand, involves study of fault models, characterization of distribution functions of faults and development of methods and tools for composing these distributions and models in estimating an overall reliability figure for the system [4]. This paper presents the research work done on reliability analysis developed with a focus on Controller-Area-Network-based automotive systems.
