High-performance and stable AgSbTe_(2)-based thermoelectric materials for near room temperature applications

AgSbTe_(2)-based ternary chalcogenides show excellent thermoelectric performance at low-and middletemperature ranges,yet their practical applications are greatly limited by their intrinsic poor thermodynamic *** this work,we demonstrate that AgSbTe_(2)-based ternary chalcogenides can be stabilized for service below their decomposition threshold.A series of AgxSb_(2-x)Te_(3-x)(x=1.0,0.9,0.8 and 0.7)samples have been prepared by the melt-quenching *** them,phase pure Ag0.9Sb1.1Te2.1 is verified by comprehensive structural characterizations from macroscale by X-ray diffraction to microscale by energy-dispersive spectroscopy and then to sub-nanometer scale by atom probe *** composition is further chosen for the stability *** decomposition threshold of Ag_(0.9)Sb_(1.1)Te_(2.1)appears around 473 *** this temperature,the chemical compositions and thermoelectric properties are barely changed even after 720 h annealing at 473 *** figure-of-merit(zT)value of Ag_(0.9)Sb_(1.1)Te_(2.1)below the decomposition threshold is very competitive for real applications even compared with Bi_(2)Te_(3-)based *** average zT of Ag_(0.9)Sb_(1.1)Te_(2.1)at 300e473 K reaches 0.84,which is higher than most other thermoelectric materials in a similar temperature range,promising applications in miniaturized refrigeration and power generation near room temperature.

An original interfacial hybrid cross-linker molecule combined electrochemical and photochemical properties by substitution of two functional groups,pyrene,and *** first group enables anchoring by strong p-stacking interaction or by electropolymerization onto multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNT).The other photoreactive group allows the covalent link with biomolecules under long-wavelength UV *** was chosen due to its ability to photogenerate high reactive radicals under UV *** photoreactivity of these immobilized nanostructured conductive surfaces was tested towards the covalent attachment of tyrosinase which is well known to oxidize a large range of phenolic compounds and its yield and availability was evaluated by amperometric measurements of catechol by using molecular *** architecture exhibiting the best analytical characteristics obtained for catechol was then chosen to detect dopamine.

Application of Genetic Algorithm for Computing a Global 3D Scene Exploration

This paper is dedicated to virtual world exploration techniques, which have to help a human being to understand a 3D scene. A new method to compute a global view of a scene is presented in the paper. The global view of a scene is determined by a “good” set off points of view. This method is based on a genetic algorithm. The “good” set of points of view is used to compute a camera path around the scene.

Abnormalities of uterine cervix in women with inflammatory bowel disease

AIM： To evaluate the prevalence of abnormalities of the uterine cervix in women with inflammatory bowel disease （IBD） when compared to healthy controls. METHODS： One hundred and sixteen patients with IBD [64 with Crohn＇s disease （CD） and 52 with ulcerative colitis （UC）] were matched to 116 healthy controls by age （＋/- 2 years） at the time of most recent papanicolaou （Pap） smear. Data collected consisted of age, race, marital status, number of pregnancies, abortions/miscarriages, duration and severity of IBD, Pap smear results within five years of enrollment, and treatment with immunosuppressive drugs. Pap smear results were categorized as normal or abnormal including atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance （ASCUS）, low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion （LGSIL）, and high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion （HGSIL）. RESULTS： The median age at the time of Pap smear was 46 （range： 17-74） years for the IBD group and matched controls （range： 19-72 years）. There were more Caucasian subjects than other ethnicities in the IBD patient group （P = 0.025）, as well as fewer abortions （P = 0.008）, but there was no significant difference regarding marital status. Eighteen percent of IBD patients had abnormal Pap smears compared to 5% of controls （P = 0.004）. Subgroup analysis of the IBD patients revealed no significant differences between CD and UC patients in age, ethnicity, marital status, number of abortions, disease severity, family history of IBD, or disease duration. No significant difference was observed in the number of abnormal Pap smears or the use of immunosuppressive medications between CD and UC patients CP = 0.793）. No definitive observation could be made regarding HPV status, as this was not routinely investigated during the timeframe of our study. CONCLUSION： Diagnosis of IBD in women is related to an increased risk of abnormal Pap smear, while type of IBD and exposure to immunosuppressive medications are not. This has significant implicatio

BACKGROUND We report a case of post-coronavirus disease(COVID)immune hepatitis occurring in a young male with no pre-existing *** SUMMARY A previously healthy 21-year-old male patient was admitted to our hospital with mild *** the course of in-hospital isolation and monitoring,he developed an alanine aminotransferase(ALT)and aspartate aminotransferase(AST)increase,with the enzymes peaking at day 24(ALT 15 times the upper normal limit),with preserved liver *** liver enzyme increase occurred 20 d after the complete clinical remission of COVID-19,and ALT dynamics paralleled the increase in total antibodies against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).The case was interpreted as post-COVID immune hepatitis,with extensive laboratory investigations excluding other potential *** hepatocytolysis remitted 20 d after the peak ALT,without further intervention,with complete recovery,but the total anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies continued to increase the next 5 mo following the acute *** Close attention should also be paid to young patients with mild forms of disease,and a high index of suspicion should be maintained for post-COVID complications.

The main objective of the present paper is to determine the potential impact the qualitative and quantitative tendencies in the labor market on the decisions which influence the design of monetary policy worldwide. The analysis is focused on how human resources and phenomena associated with them could influence potential growth and, further on, how they can impact monetary policy decisions at national level for European countries outside the euro area and at ECB level for the euro zone countries. Moreover, the paper will envisage potential macroeconomic reactions （monetary decisions herewith included） to human resources dynamics. The economic variations are regarded through the perspective of growth potential shown by the Research ＆ Development sector and also through the effects of labor force migration. The analysis of statistical data aims at pointing out the different economic perspectives in the European Union, the United States, and Japan, also considering the disparities between EU member states. The analysis is completed by the use of the ranking method, the conclusions stating once more the crucial importance of the human factor in drawing monetary policy decisions

There has been growing interest and insight into the histological composition of retrieved stroke *** of the main focuses of the stroke clot analysis literature has been the implications of clot composition on mechanical thrombectomy ***,the holy grail of clot analysis may not be in the field of clot-device interaction,but rather,in understanding mechanisms of fibrinolysis *** mechanisms underlying the low response to fibrinolytic therapy,even with the newer,more powerful agents,remain poorly *** factors such as embolus size,location and collateral status influence alteplase delivery and recanalisation rates;compositional analyses focused on histological and ultrastructural characteristics offer unique insights into mechanisms of alteplase *** this review,we strive to provide comprehensive review of current knowledge on clot composition and ultrastructural analyses that help explain resistance to fibrinolysis.

Acid tars coming from refining oil products with sulphuric acid are mainly composed of sulphonic compounds, free sulphuric acid, water and insoluble substances (generally referred to as non-sulphonable) Due to the very complex composition and free sulphuric acid, the acid tars represent a hazard to the environment. It has been attempted to use acid tars for various purposes, but for pollution reasons, it has been given up. For this reason the possibility has been studied of reusing them by transformation into non-polluting products. The surface-active solutions resulting from acid tars can replace the fluohydric or the hydrochloric acid, used in the technological operations of rock fissuring or fracturing in the crude oil reservoirs The fissuring or fracturing operations are made under great pressures, pushing the solution towards the well bottom, i.e. inside the reservoir, where it reacts and/or dislocates the rock, allowing the crude oil left in the mother-pocket to accumulate.

Proton pump inhibitors therapy and risk of Clostridium difficile infection: Systematic review and meta-analysis

AIM To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis on proton pump inhibitors(PPIs) therapy and the risk of Clostridium difficile infection(CDI). METHODS We conducted a systematic search of MEDLINE/Pub Med and seven other databases through January 1990 to March 2017 for published studies that evaluated the association between PPIs and CDI. Adult case-control and cohort studies providing information on the association between PPI therapy and the development of CDI were included. Pooled odds ratios(ORs) estimates with 95% confidence intervals(CIs) were calculated using the random effect. Heterogeneity was assessed by I^2 test and Cochran's Q *** publication bias was evaluated via funnel plot, and quality of studies by the Newcastle-Otawa Quality Assessment Scale(NOS). RESULTS Fifty-six studies(40 case-control and 16 cohort) involving 356683 patients met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. Both the overall pooled estimates and subgroup analyses showed increased risk for CDI despite substantial statistical heterogeneity among studies. Meta-analysis of all studies combined showed a significant association between PPI users and the risk of CDI(pooled OR = 1.99, CI: 1.73-2.30, P < 0.001) as compared with non-users. The association remained significant in subgroup analyses: by design-case-control(OR = 2.00, CI: 1.68-2.38, P < 0.0001), and cohort(OR = 1.98, CI: 1.51-2.59, P < 0.0001); adjusted(OR = 1.95, CI: 1.67-2.27, P < 0.0001) and unadjusted(OR = 2.02, CI: 1.41-2.91, P < 0.0001); unicenter(OR = 2.18, CI: 1.72-2.75, P < 0.0001) and multicenter(OR = 1.82, CI: 1.51-2.19, P < 0.0001); age ≥ 65 years(OR = 1.93, CI: 1.40-2.68, P < 0.0001) and < 65 years(OR = 2.06, CI: 1.11-3.81, P < 0.01). No significant differences were found in subgroup analyses(test for heterogeneity): P = 0.93 for case-control vs cohort, P = 0.85 for adjusted vs unadjusted, P = 0.24 for unicenter vs multicenter, P = 0.86 for age ≥ 65 years and < 65 years. The recent crisis was unusual in its speed and breadth and the type of countries affected. Systemic crises, situations of significant stress in the financial sector, followed by significant policy interventions, often affect several countries at the same time. In the past, though, crises have been largely limited to specific regions or types of economies, the Nordic countries in the early 1990s, Latin America in the mid-1990s, Asia in the late 1990s, and the emerging market economies of the early 2000s. The recent crisis has been unusual in its global nature, affecting countries with a speed and virulence not seen since the Great Depression, with major advance countries and countries recently integrating with the European Union (EU) most affected.
