Occurrence of Ibuprofen in the Waters of the Bengal River in Nova Friburgo

The increasing use of pharmaceuticals throughout the world is generating a new environmental problem where they are found in low concentrations, but the long-term risks to various organisms, as well as human health, are not yet known. These drugs, as well as their metabolites, are introduced into aquatic environments through excretions or discharges and may cause the same exposure as POPs （Persistent Organic Pollutants） due to its continued entry into the environment. The aim of this work is to develop a sensitive analytical method for the detection of ibuprofen and its metabolites in the Bengalas river that crosses the city of Nova Friburgo in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Three collection points were analyzed monthly in the river from its source, as well as points of treated water throughout the city. The samples were collected monthly and lyophilized. Subsequently, they were subjected to a solid phase extraction （silica） with the solvent dichloromethane： hexane （1：1; v/v）. The samples were evaporated over a nitrogen atmosphere and subjected to a LC-MS （Liquid Chromatography with Mass Spectrometry） with 5% acetic acid gradient： acetonitrile as the mobile phase. In the search for drugs, there were found ions and fragments of ibuprofen （m/z 206, 205, 177） that were sought and compared to with their standard. These indicators can result in deleterious effects on aquatic life in these bodies of water, as well as on those who use this water from the Bengalas river.

In this article, the primal-dual interior-point methods are used to minimize costs and losses in a predispatch model for the generation and transmission of direct current (DC) power flow in a hydroelectric system with pre-programmed manipulations;i.e., in cases of preventive maintenance, within a period of twenty-four hours. From the computational standpoint, the effort required to solve a problem with and without manipulations is similar, and the reasons why will be also discussed in this study. Computational results prove these findings.

The Brazilian Cerrado has been converted to farmland,and there is little evidence that this expansion will decrease,mainly because agriculture is the country's main economic ***,the impacts of intense modification of land use and land cover on surface runoff and soil erosion are still poorly un-derstood in this ***,we assessed surface runoff and soil loss in a woodland Cerrado area under a former pasture area,which was abandoned and has undergone a natural regeneration process for 7 years(RC).Its results were compared with that found in an undisturbed area of woodland Cerrado(CE),40-month-old eucalyptus(3.0×1.8 m)(EU),and pasture under rotational grazing(PA).The study was conducted on Red Acrisol located in the Brazilian *** performed rainfall simulations on a plot of 0.7 m2 and using three constant rainfall intensities of 60,90,and 120 mm h-1 for 1 *** each rainfall intensity,we carried out four repetitions using different plots in each treatment,i.e.12 plots per treat-ment studied and 48 plots in *** noted that the soil physical properties were improved in RC and,consequently,water infiltration and soil erosion control;RC presented surface runoff and soil loss different from EU and PA(a=0.05).The macroporosity and soil bulk density affected surface runoff in RC and PA because the RC was used as pasture and is currently regenerating back to the cerrado *** the rainfall intensity increased,EU became more similar to PA,which showed the highest surface runoff and soil *** findings indicate that natural regeneration processes(pasture to the cerrado vegetation)tend to improve the soil ecosystem services,improving infiltration and reducing surface runoff and soil erosion.

Introduction:Global estimates determined that there would be 14.1 million new cases of cancer and 8.2 million deaths from ***:To determine the adjusted mortality rates of the 5 most frequent primary sites of cancer and the mortality rates of the 5 most frequent primary in Brazil,between 1979 and ***:Epidemiological study between 1979 and 2015 based on data obtained from the Online Atlas of Mortality provided by the National Cancer Institute of Brazil(INCA)using information on cancer deaths obtained within the System of Information on Mortality(SIM)of Brazil Ministry of ***:When analyzing the mortality rate of the 5 most frequent primary sites by type of cancer from 1979 to 2015 for both sexes,we show that in the year 2015 the cancers with the highest rates are:bronchi and lungs,breast,stomach,prostate and unknown primary location.A total of 527,980 deaths from bronchial and lung neoplasms were recorded,304,546 deaths from breast cancer were recorded,407,611 deaths from stomach cancer were recorded,268,061 deaths from prostate cancer were recorded,and 257,357 deaths due to neoplasia of unknown primary location were *** we analyze the world standard rate and Brazil’s standard rate for mortality,we show that Brazil has higher values for the 5 most frequent primary sites by type of ***:The epidemiological study of these values aims to determine what are the main descriptors and characteristics to determine preventive measures against the increase of this disease.

Bacterial cellulose (BC) can be used in wide area of applied scientific, especially for tissue regeneration and regenerative medicine, lately, bacterial cellulose mats are used in the treatment of skin conditions such as burns and ulcers, because of the morphology of fibrous biopolymers serving as a support for cell proliferation, its pores allow gas exchange between the organism and the environment. Moreover, the nanostructure and morphological similarities with collagen make BC attractive for cell immobilization, cell support and Natural Extracellular Matrix (ECM) Scaffolds. In this scope, Natural ECM is the ideal biological scaffold since it contains all the components of the tissue. The development of mimicking biomaterials and hybrid biomaterial can further advance directed cellular differentiation without specific induction. The extracellular matrix (ECM) contains several signals that are received by cell surface receptors and contribute to cell adhesion and cell fate which control cellular activities such as proliferation, migration and differentiation. As such, regenerative medicine studies often rely on mimicking the natural ECM to promote the formation of new tissue by host cells, and characterization of natural ECM components is vital for the development of new biomimetic approaches. In this work, the bacterial cellulose fermentation process is modified by the addition of vegetal stem cell to the culture medium and natural materials before the bacteria are inoculated. In vivo behavior using natural ECM for regenerative medicine is presented.
